PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance today, from about 8am until approximately 5pm Pacific time. During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process. While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).
For those asking about the PlayStation Store, we’re still targeting restoration of all services by the end of this month. Contrary to reports, the Store will not be publishing today.
Stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for updates and a notice when maintenance has concluded.

Sony has suffered yet another online attack that has exposed users’ information, including their names, email addresses, and usernames.
As Sophos blog Naked Security initially reported, the Sony BMG Greece music site (SonyMusic.gr) was successfully hacked and the attackers later shared the data they recovered about the site’s registered users, which was eventually posted in an online forum.
More hacks have ensued, with Sony subsdiary So-Net Entertainment Corp. revealing that hackers stole redeemable gift points and a security firm reporting that a phishing scam was being run off of Sony’s Thailand server.
Sony estimates that the company will lose some $3.2 billion in the fiscal year ending March 2011. It also noted that the PlayStation breach cost it around $170 million, with the money going to improve security, providing identify theft insurance to its users, and more.
i guess its time to break the old ps2 and xbox. im all out of games to play on the ps3. all the games i want cost to much. most i pay for a game is $10 guess i better go to the fleamarket this weekend and get some new games. and all i want is my download list. i got a couple games ineed to go back to for trophies.

Sony should do much better to keep the customers happy as I know I pay for the Live for the year but the support is the best arround and they go the extra mile unlike sony support that only knows how to say you read the terms we can’t help you. PS3 stayed online with me to work out lag issues even though they knew it was the makers of Brinks issues and was willing to stay online and try other things. They also did a follow up and I also got a free avatar code from them just for being a customer. also giving me another month of live for 1.00 for one month.
I’m buying everything sony I will continue to play PS3 but when a new system comes out it will be a xbox purchase and not sony as they are crooks that took the other os from me and others.

Check the Blog, or FAQ, accept what you find and move on… If you are going to switch to M$ just because the PS Store isn’t up yet, then go right ahead. No one will miss you.

I can wait a few more days… I am much more interested in general online play anyway. I almost never check the PS Store… Not that it isn’t great or anything, I just have other things to spend my money on, like bills. Anyone complaining about the Store probably do not have many (if any) bills of their own…

for some reason i’m not able to get past the validating online pass screen for medal of honor online. i just got it like a week into the outage so i still haven’t been able to get my online pass stuff. oh, and i heard on inside gaming on machinima that the store would be back up today. is this true, or just another false rumer?

WAY TO GO PSN you’ve only worked getting the store back up today…HOW LAZY… I’ve tryed to be nice but this is rediculios. Oh, well at least we only have 5 more days to wait… Well… If they don’t, I wouldn’t be surprized to see them break another time frame. Well… this sucks… the least Sony could have done is tell us all the date of the ps store return was false, weeks ago when the rumor started… The KNEW we would all be getting our hopes up, but said absolutely nothing until the day of the rumored return… that’s low Sony. I will be shocked if the ps store actually returns by the 31st… they gave us false dates before when PSN was down, and I can definitely see them doing it again.
Though this ordeal has made me really unhappy with the company and I know i’m not the only one. My trophy score is level 27 so you can’t say i’m not a huge supporter. I expected more from sony on this besides than hearing [DELETED] gaming news tell us that “Well sony just said you can’t make everyone happy and we aren’t going to be changing the games we’re making free” which has made the company look even worse considering you aren’t even making oh… half? of your community happy? For those of you saying sony said the store would be up today please search the information before stating false information. It was a rumor from an unlinked site that stated somebody had released a memo stated that it was a target date.
Nobody has said it would be up today it has been a rumor for about 2 weeks.

That’s dirty Sony, just dirty. Any time any rumor floats around we get some kind of statement on it… at least a “we don’t comment on rumors” kinda thing which generally debunks that rumor. This time around when sites said that the store would be up today, You said NOTHING. Now comes the day and we get “PSN will be down for the day… oh and btw, it’s not because we’re putting the store up, like those rumors said”. *GRRR.

@486, hate to break it to you, but once the cards are scanned and activated, there is no return on them, you are pretty much stuck with them. All you can hope to do is sell them to a friend. I may be wrong about the return policy, I just know where I live they won’t let us return them.
