We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.
Consumers who haven’t reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up.

I was wondering how many hackers there are on the PS3 ? ( specifically Black Ops )
How many people do you ban a week/month for hacking ? Is it still possible to hack in black ops ?
( Anything is possible to hack, which was obviously proved by the attack on you, sony )
And if you could also please provide me with the same information, but for xbox..
I would greatly appreciate this, and I’m really hoping you actually answer me.
And if I get no reply, I will probably just sell my PS3 because of horrible customer support.
Oh and also, don’t take this as a decision in me getting an xbox.

I have friends in that region and since PSN over there are not up yet I can’t play and chat with them.

Primary reports seem to be that updating to firmware 3.61 will cause PlayStations to overheat. There have been various reports of this on a few different games now, all reporting their PS3s turning off or ‘Red Lighting’ after having installed 3.61.

i keep getting kicked out of matches and the description always states “lost connection to host” a few of my friends have had this problem to. at first i though it was my internet connection but it turns out its doing it to all of my games and tells me to sign back in to psn. any details you can give me on what’s happening or if its going to get fixed. all of my achievements earned on a match is removed due to losing connection to the host if you could help me out id really appreciate it. thank you

Was this exploit discovered before anyone actually used it to illegitimately change any victims’ passwords? Just curious, my PSN accounts weren’t compromised and I changed the email addresses associated with them just to be safe.

to anyone who says we can’t complain about the service, because it’s free: [DELETED]. Sony has kept their service free to compete with the xbox. Most of us would have never gotten a PS3 if it didn’t have online functions to begin with anyways. Regardless, we all payed good money for our PS3’s and are not getting what we deserve. PS store, meh big deal. 1 month free of PS+ = a huge load of [DELETED]. We won’t be able to play the games we download with PS+ after it expires. HEY what a great idea someone in Sony had… let’s give them a taste of something that will hopefully make them purchase it in the long run so it can help boost revenue from the lost month of income! What was the topic of the day? “How to re-compensate income while mildly satisfying customers?”

Look, with PSN, you can have FREE online gaming, with Xbox 360, you have to PAY for Xbox LIVE. Be happy with what you have instead of begging for more.

I think everyone will agree that as soon as sony makes psn open and running 100 percent we as the buyiers be happy enough…….however i regret to said that i agree with some who say that it taken too long and ill inform about what going on with the network and as a business you SONY should and still respondable to inform us of everything that is happening with the system on a day to day base……..i do thank you sony for making sure that instead of letting the system go down the rabbit hole you choosen to make the system not at what it was but better then it were and as a proud owner of my ps3 i will wait for the news that SONY finally open the psn and running 100 percent……..thank you to those who agree with my statements and i DO HOPE SONY WILL RESPOND TO MY MESSAGE ASAP with better updates of what going on and what they plan on doing with as much detail as possible so we all can understand what sony has to go though to get the system up and running…….again thank you sony for everything up to now and hope to hear from you soon.
