We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.
Consumers who haven’t reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up.
someone said the store will be back up on the 24th but i think it will be maybe a couple days later. as long as it is up before Christmas i’m good.
I just bought Dragon Age II for PS3, It has redeemable code for game, but you must purphase it via Playstation Store, do you know when this will be back up? Thank you :)

To anyone who needs to redeem a code they already have, it can be done via the PS Store website. Just go into manage your account and you can redeem codes from there. Just used it to redeem my code for DC Universe so I can verify for you all that it works.
@ DJPac08 : I see what you are saying and I agree with you, I just wish they would get some things straight thats all. None of this should have ever happened, and its very stressful having to cancel a credit card because sony did not update their security. I have no doubt in my mind that sony makes a far superior console than microsoft, however there are obviously things that microsoft is doing daily that sony was not, such as updating their security. It has already been confirmed that sony was using an old security system, which is totally unacceptable when you have 70+ million peoples credit card numbers along with every other bit of personal information. If they were on top of these things this would never have happened. So yes, it is sony’s fault; yes I am annoyed; and yes I am glad the service is back up, although it should have never been down. And no I dont blame the hackers I blame sony. If you trust someone to watch your kid, and your kid gets hit by a car because your babysitter was watching tv, who is at fault? The driver of the car or the stupid babysitter sitting on his arse? By the way that was a statement not a question.

whoever hacked it probably sold so many acccounts of peoples info to hundreds of different people. maybe even thousands. all of our lives are at jeapordy. and when do we get the identity theft deal promised. while my friends and i are being booted off because someone signing in somewhere else under our usernames. I think its funny how everyone is forgetting Microsoft got hacked a while back to. Then again they didn’t try to cause quiet a stir. Furthermore Sony the general population that is posting and reading these post may not have realized it but im not such a dumb-ass. I know you aren’t telling us something big. Why else would you have shut down psn for nearly a month, and still have PlayStation store shut down. Furthermore what is the point in causing such a stir? Really in this kind of a situation a major company isn’t going to not give nearly constant updates on what’s going on as to reassure there customer’s. Instead your doing just the opposite. Personally if I have to take a guess as to the “secret” i’d say that your so called “Hackers” are actually former employees you pissed off. I <3 your stupidity!

To icy_cold_killer you need to add to your statement that the car that hit the kid did it on PURPOSE. Now that is a whole different story if the car hit the kid on accident or on purpose… These damn hackers hit Sony on purpose, which is exactly a whole different story. My two cents on ur statement about “not blaming the hackers” an attack that happens intentionally is at fault. I am not saying Sony is not at fault, yes they needed to updated their security, but I blame the damn hackers for this chaos

1) I’m sick of you all complaining that the NETWORK was hacked they are moving over to 360 now! good GO!,.. if all you do is play COD Black Ops & MW then leave since you have no REAL respect for the PS3 & what it can all do! go pay a GIANT company that have tons of $$ for online play. its still FREE on PS3 so now your COD is gonna cost you an 60$ a year.
2) the less annoyed but complain, things happen! deal with it,.. internet service is FREE on the PS3, i take it if you go into some restaurant or grocery store & they give you a free sample & u dont like it, what do, ask for YOUR MONEY BACK? it was free, so shut up!
3) those who have PS Plus (THIS INCLUDES ME) yes, i know this did suck! i have ~8 games that i play online, including ONLINE only titles like MAG! i respect you all for paying for this service & i do was disappointed that it was not up for me to download more games. since i reserved BRINK at 2 stores to get both copies of DLC i didnt even pick mine up yet due to this & now found out the FREEBIES you get i already BOUGHT!! =( major sad face)
4) all those WHO DID NOT COMPLAIN but, instead were grateful to sony and showed them the respect they deserve,.. yes they got hacked, yes this was a major thing,.. but tech is there & tech came be destroyed. i was patient through this whole thing, calling sony about every 4 days or so to get an update on things,.. the first thing i said to EACH representative was
“i want to tell you i am not gonna be one of those customers you area dealing with screaming at you or anything, i respect you and know that your job must be allot more hectic these past few days.”
each one of them told me they really appreciate that and thanks, that pretty much all day all they have is people screaming at them and calling them names and being extremely rude to them! that’s totally unacceptable people!
5) i strongly feel that ANY system that is MODDED OR HACKED in ANYWAY shud be BANNED from the NETWORK and anyone found hacking into the network should have their IP permanently blocked and their system FORMATTED to a empty HD!

I suggest sony shuts down the website PS3NEWS.COM. Its a hacker mod website that leaked the rebug ps3 from what I learned is basicly like a dev ps3 with lots of extra functions and can download content from ps store for free. Why dont they stop these hacks??? You can go to any torrent site they are easy to download… I would rather support the developers and buy the games but these hackers are ruining the gaming industry just like they did with the movies and music by pirating and stealing the copyright data. Please do something sony! They are ruining the ps3s future.

I have notified sony and wanted to let others know that I have received calls at my home phone using a scam of being a local company questioning my address how long lived here whether we were ready to remodel. Of course no questions at all were answered and when asking for info on who this person was and what they wanted they refused answer direct questions. I have pull cc files and placed alert on all bureaus. If sony was to send out letters to all US customers stating theft of their personal and credit info most (not all) would be able to put credit freeze on their credit accounts free of charge or min. fee. Otherwise to put a credit freeze on ones acct. it is $10 per month (I believe that you have to pay all 3 that fee).
As for the cowards that hacked this (and all others) system (whether or not for personal gain) you are just that cowards and terrorist. I hope that you are apprehended, tried, jailed and then get your just deserts in prison (and of course I am sure I speak for many when I say that I hope your cell mate enjoys you as much as he or she can).
finally reset my password. I’ve been trying to do this since Saturday. Email came about a minute after I requested it.

I can’t believe most of you are still “loyal” to this company after all this. Sony doesn’t even care for the smallest bit about you gamers. They care about the investors and developers. If they did care as much as they say they do , they would be straight forward and not lie about what’s going on and not trying to be all hush about it.

Good news at last, the password changing site is finally back on! Just changed my password and can finally get on after over a month of suffering…
I haven’t had a problem signing in or anything since it went back up. Let me change my password right there. Really wish the store was back, though. Gotta get me Honest Hearts and stuff. Speaking of which, I agree with Thor4more. That’s exactly why I only get the ps cards. Not really a hassle beings as I’m at Wal-Mart sometime or another throughout the week.

Hello everyone, I heard about playstation network been down almost for a month. I am glad it’s back online for good. however, I wish sony can increase more characters instead of just 8 characters when creating passwords. i’m sure everybody would like to have 12 or more characters of passwords. Just doing the best we can to try to outsmart hackers. Sony is doing everything they can do to keep playstation network more secure and safer too, of course. We do NOT want anymore of security breach like this one ever again. Sony could have thought about having more than 8 characters passwords since they have learned their lessons after the security has been breached last month ago. I’m just giving sony an suggestion, of course.

guys sony is offering alot more than they have to. would people seriously quit nagging them and dissing them. they had to rebuild a network my guess is they changed wires for less lag and better connection making them go over the time expected.
