Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.

It has been more than 28 hours since i sent the request to change my password via pc. i still have not received any communication from sony on any of my accounts. anyone, even if not working for sony could you please reply as i have not seen any responses to my type of question
@Jeff. I been hearing much about the Playstation plus on the welcome back package and that after the membership expires that you cannot use the content after it expires is that true or not
Several of my friends and family have bought ps3’s since i told them the network was back up. I’ve been a spokesman for sony for years…telliing everybody what great products they have.Now they got ps3’s when can they create online accounts so they can join me on my online havoc.i tried to help my sister start an account but we kept getting the error message when will the network be fully up and running so i can tell them they haven’t wasted there money….

I load in Playstation Home and went to Aurora. I was suppose to recieve a reward for reaching level 55. But instead of recieving my reward it froze my console. Now everytime I go to load Home it freezes my console. How do I get into Home without it freezeing my console?

Will I be able to redownload any of the things I’ve bought in the store again for free or will I have to buy them again? Had to delete some stuff on my ps3 but just upgraded my memory (I love that you let us do that Sony).
Sony I am having some trouble recovering my account. I don’t have a PS3 and I used a fake email on my account, I have also looked at the Questions and FAQ’s, but do not find it helpfull. I would like to suggest if it was possible that we can use an alternative email to recover my password. Please my other account has my games and my PSP is activated with that account, Thank You.
I hope the Uncharted 3 Beta Online will still be available with the PlayStation Plus.

Is the PSN working in Romania? I got the update but I didn’t receive the reset-password e-mail. Instead I just did it here. Will it work now with the new password?!
Be very careful all I really think that the Update crashed my system. It was working just fine before I updated then It turned it’s self off and gave me a flashing red light.

sony just try to get the playstation store back i want the black ops new maps
Here’s the deal. I live in Peru. If you are a registered user with a Peruvian account you cannot access any of the network services. No playstation home, no playstation store, nothing… because the region is not supported. It hasn’t been supported ever, that in itself is discriminatory. The PSN attack took away the only thing we could access, the online multiplayer functionality.
My question is: Are we going to get compensation just like everybody else or are we going to be forgotten as usual?
By the way, I had to create an American account, yesterday, just so I could post this message, and suddenly I have access, thru this new account, to all the services denied to my Peruvian account. I am sure that it is somewhat irregular to do this, but from what I read in post it’s very common and it’s the only way to get the services.

Still having issues with logging into the :Forums” have tried all OS from Linux to Windows using this account. The forums just spits me out into the log in area. no band has been implemented, Its been going on for 5 months. I thought maybe a hacking incident might be the cause of it.. But, I am thinking after changes From Quest services to Com Cast services may result in accessing it, but it is a no go lol.A rep told me that there have been reports of this and there is nothing that can be done… Can you Knock a few heads over there at the company that runs the forums? see what is going on?
at any rate, Something has got to give. I have enlisted 10 e-mail address for that thing, and not one can use it.
I am new to all this PS3 gaming stuff. My husband and I FINALLY were able to get a PS3. The sucky part was that we bought it the same weekend that all this happened and PSN went down. how is that for Murphy’s law? I would like to thank everyone that comments and the replies to them from jeff and others because without ya’ll we would have been more in the dark than most since we had no idea what we were missing. thanks you all you out there we now know a heck of alot more that we can do when everything gets completely u and running. Oh I noticed that MSN is using “.live ” prefix? you might want to update your data base and double check with that Sony.
If PSN is stronger and better, PS Home must be the waekest link. I’m having connection issues with PS Home.”Connection to the server was lost” I use PS Home more than I play disk based games. Is there some problems with PS Home?
Ok good job Sony it may have been a long layoff but it was worth it, now I have one question…. I have two ps3s my problem is my 30gb has the Black ops first strike maps while my 80gb (which I fixed myself…YLOD and it wouldn’t read blu ray disc anymore) doesn’t and if im correct i need the playstation store available to download the maps to my 80gb right? If im wrong can someone help me with this problem thx.
firstly well done on the restoration and great work but i noticed that you are putting up games posts and most people will not be going back to check these posts would you send an email to the psn constumers to let them know when the ps store and welcome back package will be up and running and maybe a message on the psn itself thank you
secondly if you send an email to the costumers that have had their email changed will they still recieve the email at their current address???

First and foremost, i am grateful that you did the best of your abilities to ensure that both Playstation 3 owners and your 3rd party vendors are able to work together to provide the best content availalbe. On a personal note, I do hope your continued efforts to catch the group/individual responsible continues and that updates are posted as well.
I do aprreciate the offers so far and expect more player interaction with SONY to make the PS3 system and network to be better than what others would expect. It would be beneficial if more content would be announced as E3 is coming up and we can have have bragging rights on exclusive content you cannot find on Nintendo or Microsoft. A fan for life…

Spoke to Netflix and we troubleshooted everything but still wont work.
Is it just me or are the weapons more accurate in Bad Company since they came back on line. The machine gun on the tank was much better IMO.
How do you get lemonade out of this situation???? Sony suffered through this problem but i would bet peripheral/dependent companies, specifically game developers suffered more. Maybe there is some sort of bidding system for discounts you guys could implement to help those smaller companies to bounce back and sell more while reducing cost to yourselves. Those companies play a huge part in your success; how can you incorporate their services into a plan for keeping your customers happy when you have to go “down”???
******Most Importantly, considering their success and shortcomings with this circumstance, what changes will be made to other facets of the company??? Let Sony know we want to know how this “problem” has turned into an opportunity to evaluate and improve the overall health of the company. What happens if our information is used after 1 year? Is the “welcome back” package worth

My answer is no, it’s not worth it. I understand Sony is a victim of a crime but they allowed
themselves and us gamers to become a victim of this crime. I hope Sony takes care of us
to the best of their ability and does everything in their power to not become a victim again
or allow us to be victimized again. Xbox is laughing at us right now.

1. What about games that require users to redeem an online pass before they can play online? For example, Mortal Kombat can’t be played online because there is no way to redeem said online pass. Is there an alternate solution aside from waiting for the playstation store to come back online?
2. Why were the Socom 4 servers offline yesterday after working on Saturday? When will they be turned on?
3. Why can’t I link my PSN account to Steam to redeem my free copy of Portal 2? Thing is I just changed my password and the steam/PSN web portal gave me an error about retrieving credentials.

I can’t believe Sony has the audacity to post /update the welcome back package and post two new game blogs before answering or dealing with any of the serious questions posted on the FAQ blog. Is this how it’s going to continue to be? We were kept in the dark a.k.a. hardly any updates when Sony shut down the network. Now we’ve got questions that are far more significant then “what are you going to give me?” and “when are you going to start talking about games again?” but the only answers we get are “thanks it’s good to be back” and here take these free products??? Were you hoping that would stop the whiners? It’s been well over 48 hours since you brought the network back online. We’ve had to wait for emails with links that won’t allow us to reset our passwords no matter how many times you correctly enter the letters and numbers. C’mon my patience is already thin and this time I’m not shut out of the blog so I am able to post my opinions and pose my questions.
Has anyone noticed Sony has removed this blog from the list of blogs on the blog home page???

I would be reporting that several people who die in Latin America are having problems making the change of password through the console and through the Computer Pages are giving problems and not being sent any email to persons who carried out the Registration Hotmail.com using the system from Microsoft.
I want a response from a representative of the Company on the solution of this problem believe that this is occurring because of new security policies of the Company. Oh also people complaining that the First Attempt Console is marking the error 80023156 and quickly as possible.
The company forgot that Brazil is in the same region that connection referring to USA / CANADA

I can confirm, PSN works in Romania.
If u don’t receive the passwaord-changin’ e-mail use the playstation.com to do this and you will be able to connect with the new password.
Unfortunately the store isn t available in Romania, although I have spent so much on the PS3, games, accesories, ecc… I even bought a very expensive Sony LCD just to have everything from Sony… And we are so many using this system in Romania and the store and all the features are not available.
This is not fair because we are customers just as all the other customers wolrdwide.
Anyway, PS3 and PSN rulez. Keep it up. And safe. ;)
