Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.

According to Sony, every PS3 user gets a free 30-day PS+ membership as a ‘welcome back’. So for those of us who already HAD PS+, are you also going to move up our subscription end date by the same number of days as the PS Store was down?

How many stupid people does it take to spam a blog? To you tht keep asking about our plus subscriptions read the freakin FAQ article instead of just asking questions. The whole time the network was down most of what I read was a bunch of babies whining and crying and it’s still that. Grow up you little whiners. I have both systems and I much prefer PS3 even considering all the issues. Sony was not at fault really. No system is unhackable, the pentagon has been hacked so don’t be ignorant. I lost 2300 dollars and I still back sony. I know in the end it will be taken care of. I trust sony.

Also on Black Ops, when will the new patch be downloadable? There was I think the eighth patch released for Black Ops. It had some really good things in it, so I just want to know if that will downloadable soon.

With regards to the whole store update and what will be given to us, i just wanna chime in my opinion here and say and i am not trying to be rude or anything but constantly seeing people post about Cod map packs and cross chat is getting beyond annoying. I realize that people who do play cod love the game and wan specific things in lieu of compensation however what cod players need to understand is that
1. Not everyone plays cod or want a part of the welcome back pack to be something associated with cod
2. People repeating this request over and over is just redundant and even if 5 million people who play cod voiced this request down’t mean it will happen simply because not everyone would use it or even benefit from it.
3. Cross chat is another request that has been asked for to death. Now i know some would find this to be good to have and if it was implemented then great but

Sucker Punch should try evaluating making a good game instead of inFamous 2.
I had to buy a new PS3 the day this happened. I have not been able to redownload any of the plethora of content I have already paid for. Why is this feature lumped in with the Store functionality and will it be restored before or at the same time as the Store?

@AngryMudkip i have been having the same problem. i have not received an email for my password change but i was able to make a new account in a matter of minutes. I think i will end up calling if i do not get anything by tomorrow morning. This is taking way too long, and why were some people asked to rest on their ps3 and others by email. This system is not making sense to me

I have a psn account through hotmail (live.com). why is it I received a reset email for this account through yahoo within minutes and yet, over 24 hours later, I still have not received a reset email through hotmail? the whole isp theory seems all shot to bits.
I have been waiting for the email for two to three days :/ And yet nothing. I just wonder how long does it take not to be rude or anything. Had to make a new account but ps3 wont let me sign in with another account. And have been on hold for near a hour on ps support -.-

I created a new account also, just so I can post blogs on here. I have been waiting 36 hrs.. I here ya, this is getting to be a bit ridiculous. Especially when they post on the forum saying it will only take up to 24 hrs.

@3 It will probably be the $10.00 games. There is no way that we would be able to get the “good” games. Hell, we probably won’t get Black Ops Escalation for free when it is out. It really sucks because $15 is a lot for a few maps. $3 a map. Arrgghh. lol

Some of my ps plus content has expired even though I am still a member. will I be able to extend the licenses when the store goes live?
You may know psn is back up. I know I need to change password, says it’s mandotory. I tried logging in through ps3, tells me they sent email to change my password. I went to email and clicked on link, it shows me a box to type numbers and letters, I typed the numbers and letters in the box, all correct… Then it tells me “There is a problem resetting your password. Please click the link again or copy and paste the link into an Internet browser.” I tried this a number of times, no success. Why did I get this message? Anyone else with this problem??? Is it something wrong with thier site?. I’ll try tommorow to see if I can get this to work
jeff i have a question now that the welcome back package details are up i was wondering if i got it too cuz i bought my ps3 a couple days after the network was hacked, from a friend but i was completely unaware of it and i was planning on playing online straight away but then i waited 2 and a half weeks basically for the service undergoing maintenance message to go away and i was reading all the updates and news from my ps3 and i created this profile at like 2:30 in the morning once it was up but do i still get the package? and someone else has the same question

I work in networks, and even though I stupport sony, I enjoy calling any company on B.S., especially when they are outright lying to their consumers. If there is a problem with msn, maybe they didn’t know, maybe they did or do. Point is that I am losing trust. Bill Gates may be the antichrist, but at this point, who’s to say the antichrist isn’t better than the devil? ISP problems my backside!
For those that are having issues getting their emails with hotmail accounts, I would suggest. Checking the junkmail or spam folders. That is most likely where the emails from psn are ending up.
I have a North American account but I am currently living in Seoul. When will Korea be back online? Two weeks ago my hard drive was corrupted and I had to format it. I would really like to restore my profile and retrieve some of my cloud saves. Thanks
