Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. awesome job Sony. You did better than I expected handling the whole situation in its entirety. Just one question. Yesterday, I was able to return online. Wanted to play MK online after dinner last night. Then when I tried to sign back in… it said, “A connection to the network could not be established. Said something about a DNS server error was timed out or something. I changed my stuff, and tried to reconnect, and it’s still giving me the same message.
Is this because it hasn’t been fully established in any southeastern states yet? Or do I have to disconnect my modem or something like that? Someone give me some feedback, please and thank you. :-)
Yes I will like to ask about a couple of offer that were affected by the outage. I am referring to a promotional free copy of Portal 2 for PC that was offer at release date. Also EA offer a free copy of Mass Effect 2 for PC with your copy of DA2, And since PSN store service were not available I just wonder if we be able to get these offers at some point.

Wow!!! its kinda sad that there were people so addicted to gaming that a month off from being able to play online and get “trophies ” got people stressed out freaking out, it wasl ike they were having withdrawals. i on the other hand enjoyed spending time with family and playing 2 player games with my little brother instead and enjoying the crappy and nice weather seattle has to offer.one of my co workers started freaking out that he couldn’t get some lame trophy before our fishing season starts and so he bargained with the captain let him start the season in 2 weeks instead of may 18th he got replaced instantly by the captain and we found another greenhorn kinda sounds like hes tweaking out about the online gaming being turned on. yea i just felt like sharing that bit of my down time experience.
oh and how come i cant add comment to the blog off my ps3 i think that should come in one of your future updates i think that would make things a bit easier on certain people or something

Thanks Sony for doing a great job, from a fellow gamer; gamer for God that is. lol. Anyways, I reseted my password, and it’s saying that connection to the network could not be established. Telling me to go to network settings and whatnot.

Relax….atleast we can play online again. Not having the store does suck but atleast online play is back. It would be nice to be able to install DCU, but I cannot do so because it requires the store. Just relax…sit back….and enjoy the things that they are providing. I am sure they want it up just as bad as you do.

I still have not received an email from Playstation regarding my password reset, and it has been almost 36 hours. I tried creating a new account and logging in but an error message pops up and says i must us my own sign in ID. what is going on?

I’ve been shootin’ holes in people all afternoon on Black Ops! It’s great to have the PSN back! Thnx for the restoration Sony. I’m hesitant to give too much props becuz I have a funny feeling tht there are more hiccups to come, similar to yesterday’s “30 minute” down time.
Kudos to Sony for recovering as quickly as they did from this debacle. I thought it would be much longer.
Shame on you Sony for doing a poor job of keeping the loyal customer base apprised during this debacle.
“Welcome Back” Package: Doesn’t need to be extraordinary, but it should be something that appeals to everyone and something that is permanent. Otherwise it’s just more ammunition to blast Sony with.

@1165 You’ll have to create another user name for your PS3 then try to create an online account. For some reason we’re not able to access another online name from an already set up user name. I hope this makes sense to you.

I have a question, an important one!
I have 3 different accounts, 2 of them were created with hotmail & live.com emails, and the other one with a gmail one. What happened was that when I tried to change the passwords on all of them, the only email I got was on the gmail one, and I didn’t get any on the hotmail or live emails (confusing grammars, but I think you get my point :P)!

Glad PSN is finally back and stronger then ever! Ive been a loyal PlayStation fan since the launch of the PS1, and will continue being a proud part of the PlayStation family going forward.
However I did have one concern.. In regards to the complimentary ALL CLEAR ID PLUS program, I noticed in the fine print it says for US residents only. I live in Ontario, Canada. Does this mean all of us north of the border will be missing out on this? If so, that is kind of a letdown. I was under the assumption that Canada was part of SCEA?
Sony, can you please elaborate on this issue for all of us?
