Now that some PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been restored and you’re once again enjoying online gaming and entertainment, we’re happy to provide details about the “Welcome Back” appreciation program for customers in North America. We developed the program as an expression of our gratitude for your patience, support and continued loyalty during the service outage. From all of us at PlayStation, thank you and welcome back!
This package will be made available to all existing registered PlayStation Network and Qriocity users in North America (US and Canada), and will be made available shortly after we have fully restored the service. More specific details about these offers and eligibility requirements will be posted as the services go live.
All PlayStation Network customers can select two PS3 games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

- LittleBigPlanet
- Super Stardust HD
- Wipeout HD + Fury
For PSP owners, you will be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.
- LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
- ModNation Racers
- Pursuit Force
- Killzone Liberation
- A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
- Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
- Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
- To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.

However, I have all the games that are being offered for free. So…ummmm…I’m not sure how to react. Can I get like just $20 credit and I can get something I don’t have? I hate to feel ungrateful. :(

Uhm, this says “existing Playstation Network accounts”. How about the few that purchased systems during the blackout? Me and my girlfriend purchased one as a gift for her younger sister, but she hasn’t been able to get on the PSN and purchase the games she wanted from the Store. We got her a $50 Playstation Network card, but were unable to use it for about 19 days (and counting). We couldn’t even sign her up for a new account so that she could benefit from the welcome back program.
As an aside, I own all these stellar titles. I’m also an early adopter of the Playstation Plus program. I’m glad I’ll be reimbursed for the time missed, but none of these free offerings are of much use to me. I was wondering if there might be a way to ‘gift’ these free copies to friends on other accounts, similar to how Steam does it.

That’s right the cheap skates that don’t buy are getting the freebies while the rest of us who do spend and already own these games are basically getting nothing except the Home freebies, and half of those items I probably already own as well :(
I didn’t get Infamous or Wipeout HD when I got my PS3, so having a chance to finally own them is really nice. This is a pleasant surprise. :)

This is pretty wicked. If you own a PS3 and a PSP do you get access to both deals? I’m just curious. Dead Nation, Infamous, Pursuit Force, and LittleBigPlanet (PSP) would be a pretty crazy haul. I also need to point out that if anybody does not have Wipeout HD + Fury then they need to pick that up. Not only is it my favourite PS3 game by far but it’s probably my 5th favourite game of all time and I’ve been gaming since Colecovision man.

I’m sorry to say this, but this welcome back package is a slap in the face to PS3 owners who have been around since the start and have supported Sony from the beginning by already having purchased all those old games (aside from Dead Nation and ModNation Racers being newer releases).
I already own those games. They’ve been out for over a year and some since launch! Basically the only thing I get out of this welcome back package is 60 more days on my plus subscription and some movie rentals?!

So tell me something, SONY…is there a way that I can opt out of this,”welcome Back” package? I already have ALL of the games that you are trying to give away, and since everyone knows that you, PLAYSTATION THEMSELVES know that we already have those games…basically I am tired of being ripped off here. It’s even more sly that you offer us PLAYSTATION PLUS, and all those free games that we can download and play, WHILE WE ARE SUBSCRIBERS!!! As soon as that 30 days is up, we can’t play those games any longer. And if that wasn’t bad enough, for those people that DO download your “free” games, they will have to turn around and purchase a larger hard drive to have enough room for these digital games, and you will make even more money. In essence, I DO NOT WANT YOUR WELCOME BACK PACKAGE! Tell me how I can opt out of this please.
Great selection of games. Good job Sony. I feel a little bit let down because I already own all of the PS3 games up for offer, but I will definitely grab some of the PSP goodness! I think you guys did a great job of handling this whole unfortunate event. I just hope the hackers will leave you along now, because we have all suffered enough!

While I still don’t agree with the delay in Sony not notifying everyone that there could have been a problem and then releasing more information as they got it, it seems Sony wants to make amends for what happened. Two games, movies, and Playstaion Plus? My only gripe now is I wish they would have given one or two free movies to download and keep instead of just letting you watch them over the weekend. I am a casual Playstation/PSN user. Like at least one of the posters above, I had no idea of an outage. I had just bought the new Mortal Kombat and was hoping to play online and unlock the Classic Sub-Zero character included in my game. i would like to have access to some of the movies as a casual user. I also hope my code I have waited a month to use is still valid. If these codes are no longer valid due to the outage will Sony make good on that?
