Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

Hope that was a lesson for you Sony. You can´t win against the Internet !!! The Internet never forget !!! Just saying this cause there will always be someone who is smarter then you. Listen to your customers, don´t act like an evil empire who wants only become richer and richer. Then everything should be fine. And now back to PSN, it´s about time.

Sony, thanks for all the hard work. My wife and I are both disabled so it’s been rough having our crack taken away for a while. We knew it would be worth it in the end, though. We also have lots of things we want to buy when the store is up, so we’re anxious for that. For now, though, we’re just thrilled to be online again. My wife loves Free Realms and racing Dolphys, and I gotta shoot/race some suckas, lol (or get my butt kicked, but either way, what fun!)

Companies should always be prepared for things like this. Always think of worst case scenarios and try to have a plan and backup software, servers, etc. in place and ready for such a event.
I’m sure SONY lost a lot of customers due to the length of time it has taken for the service to be restored, but if they would have had a backup plan in place and they would have restored service in a much more timely manner they wouldn’t have lost all of the revenue and cutomers that they did, not to mention the other companies that lost money who develop the games for PS3.
Just like BP and the oil rig disaster, a plan of action should have been in place before the accident.
WAKE UP AMERICA!
Always have a dedicated department looking for ways to exploit your network and hopefuly you find the holes before the hackers do.

Most people purchased the PS3 due to its online service and the ability to play others.
So when the service is not available for weeks, i think people feel they should be compensated.
I wouldn’t have purchased the PS3 if it wasn’t able to play games online with others and I’m sure lots of others would ay the same.

Hey man you could have continued watching Netflix since day one of the outage. All you have to do is click on Netflix, when you get the error back out. Do this a few times and it will automatically connect to Netflix for you. Hope this helps, to bad you didn’t know this before. If that don’t work, pay your bill….. lol
Okay, uhm hello I just wanted to tell you that I just noticed that all of my game data has been deleted or something? They were deleted from my other account that I haven’t got acess to yet because it says that I will receive an E-Mail message within the next 24 hours and it has been over 18 hours now. SO I got 2 problems. As I start a game it says something like this: ”The data is corrupted (80029209)” Please help me and try to send me the e-mail message as soon as possible.

@itsjackyl what happened was out of sonys control. the got hacked did you know how many years it took hackers to do this many lol. would it be wrong if sony said “to ensure gamers something like doest happen again you have to pay for online play”

c´mon, it´s time already for this thing to be REALLY working… yesterday i was able to play for lousy 2hours and no game would connect anymore, even tough my friend could send me msgs… but, let´s face it, i dont use my playstation for chit chat.
