Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

I would personally like to state that this is a great day. How i have missed MAG! Thank you to all of the Sony employees who put in long hours to make this all happen and make the PSN a much safer environment for everyone. i hope those responsible are found and given a fair trail in a court of law. and i hope to see the PS Store back up and running, so i get the latest and the best that only Sony can bring us.

I confess I doubted you for a while there, Sony… Playstation has been my go-to console from the beginning, I still have my original Playstation (the full-size one) propped up on the table in my basement, but even as an original “fanboy” I was beginning to reconsider — Glad to see you didn’t let me down!

How can all of you compliment all the geniuses at sony for first off taking this long to get services back up and which they still arent up, and also this sort of thing should not happen to a major company such as sony in the first place so please stop complimenting them for creating a network that some joe shmo hacked into in the first place, just my personal opinion, and also since they have the right to delete any comment for any reason they deem necessary how much do you bet almost every negative comment is deleted anyways?
Are you kidding me…….It taking 4 weeks for the restoration of these services was ridiculous. And you expect a pat on the back for loosing peoples sensitive info and then taking forever to restore it. And people are actually gullible enough to say thanks.
Where is this welcome back package promised and where the hell is the store??
Keeping people updated with vague messages over the weeks and with false statements of the service returning in 3 days only to not return was very unprofessional.
And you expect us to still buy stuff from you guys on PSstore? wtf Ask yourselves one question. Would you buy stuff from yourselves with your own credit card? Yeah didn’t think so. Also the generic security features. What security features are those what encryption method is being used to protect data, what firewall features, and so forth? We deserve to know what the hell you are using to protect OUR data.
Yeah so I guess thanks for the long ass wait, the incompetence of loosing user information and then not allowing any method to voice our opinions, basically silencing an entire community on the incompetence of not being able to make separate databases for different logins. Really top notch job there.

Wow SONY IS freaking STUPID. I tried resetting password and i get ” A server error has occurred” in one of my accounts. The rest of the accounts I could reset fine.
I tried forgot password and i get an error “error occurred 80023156”
Wow, And I am not the only one this is happening too. Way to go SONY!!!!

Nice work getting the PSN services back up and running.
This software update won’t let me sign in, my email address is 31 chars long, and its stops inputting at 30.
I didn’t have a problem with earlier software updates.

Thank you Sony for finally bringing us a whole new and more secure network. Sure where difficult times for us as consumers as well you as a company, well obviously was more difficult for you, but after all, here we are back again. I believe that what you need to work more is the communication with your costumers. Besides all the inconviences that this attack caused, one bright side is that now you are better prepared to avoid future problems like this, and will also teach other companies the value of security, and you know what they say, “What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger” So I clearly believe sony will stand easily against everything, good job sony,

And btw someone wise on this said a while back during the outage that even the Pentagon has been hacked. So is Sony more important or supposed to be better able to defend itself than our own government from hacking? Get a clue! Sweet!! I’ll be really happy when the store is up so I can redeem my Kombat Pass and download alternate uniforms. But I’m so stoked that I can play online I don’t mind getting totally owned like I did.
Hey people, let’s recall Sony was blind sided by the hacking on their network, and didn’t really know the all info in enough time to tell anything. I say Sony has done a pretty good job of handling things so far. Yes, things could be better but come on, you have to understand that Sony didn’t want to panic you unless there was something to panic about,. True they should have had better security so this thing wouldn’t happen, but you have to admit that Sony has PSN back on line let’s all show some thanks and move on. I have been reading the negative feedback on this board, I for one still support PS3 and will NEVER GO TO Xbox Yick! Thank you for making we are all safe and let the fun start.
