Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!
Relax, the servers are NEW, they have hiccups, so if people have trouble signing up, wait a little to try again, according to some people in the comments.

i just have to say that i was excited to see the network up in my region… however it was short lived since my system decided this morning to have some sort of booting issues… long story short 3 hours later i ended up having to reformat the whole system and lose ALL of my data and settings and DL’s.. you name it i lost it. Having said that i am still a happy PS customer because i was able to get back online FOR FREE and play Modern Warfare 2. I had faith in Sony and realized that i would rather it be done right than hasty, im just hoping that the PS One games,themes, and DLC i paid for i will be able to recover and download again, and im also happy that i was able to keep my online ID… thanks Sony… looking forward to the shop opening and getting a taste of PS Plus !

I’m in Canada and HAD the playstation NETWORK for a short period today but i kept getting BOOTED OFF and by 8:00 P.M. I couldn’t log on! Getting that “SITE MAINTENANCE” MESSAGE again!! I GIVE UP.

Ok so it cant be entirley screwed because of the fact we can still log on here. Right. Before there wasnt this option. Sony; after almost an entire month of no online gaming your back and ready for action. All the gamers who stuck by you so far were so glad to have all our games back and to have the human element in them. Now to have to be shut down for maintence……….again……makes me and a few others feel like the fixing of this problem might not suffice. Now Im on the Sony side of this, but this doesnt mean that we ( gamers ) are not vulnerable to being let down, by even some of the largest companies in the world. Obviously there is a new problem in the system, or this will be the second of multiple attacks against Sony. AN UPDATE WOULD BE EXTREMLEY APPRECIATED.

thank you sony. you have save me from going to buy a xbox i came close to getting one but i hung in there. i also want to know when the ps store will be up aand some people r signing out and there are getting the matance thingy again. why is that happening? anyways just though i would ask. i am so happy that i was able to get on today and chill with my friends online. i missed that alot. and hope that nothing happends like this ever again.. thank u sony !!!!

OK, i took a 4 hour nap from 3:30 to 7:30. When i fell asleep, PSN was working and i was playing Black Ops, but when i woke, I signed in and it said that the Server is undergoing maintenance , what is going on. Also, when i was on earlier, and playing, it would sometimes kick me from a game and give me a message saying, “Error, someone else has already logged onto this account.” Please help me with both problems

My psn is not working either. I was playing like 1/2 hour ago when I went to log back it again the under going maintenance again. Who knows maybe they are updating the psn store so i can buy the new map pack for black ops.
the servers didnt crash.. how is it any different from people getting home and signing on everyday? besides, they upgraded them.
