Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

Just keep trying, I had same problem, could make a new acct, but eventually the login let me change the password

I was playing MK 9 online about 2 hours ago.
Then I got disconnected from their server.
tried to play other games but none of them worked.
I tried to reboot my router, but when I tried to get back online it said that PSN was currently undergoing maintenance, again.
What’s going on?

If you cant change your password then you probably have updated the software to version 3.61

I’ve been on this morning and have not been dc’d all day. Although I have heard reports of short lived outages which I attribute to there location possibly.
I’m really glad the network is back online, but I’m still waiting for the Playstation Store to go back up too. I purchased DC Universe online on April 22nd, only a few days into the network outage. And with the PSN down, naturally I haven’t been able to play it. But after the network came back up last night, I found out when I tried to start playing that I can’t go any further that the opening screen without first validating my start-up game code at the Playstation Store. Sooooooo, there’s that! I mean, I can certainly handle the extra wait… More waiting to play won’t irritate/annoy/kill me or anything… But I am curious as to when the restoration process is expected to be fully complete.
Good to go from the Great NorthWest. PS3: patched. Ready to roll.
Can you add cross chat and maybe fix the multiplayer for Red dead redemption because I heard that nobody can invite each other to play with their friends.
