Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

I am glad everything is under control now. I wasn’t able to comment the time the network was down. But I wanted to say that i was with you all the way. Seeing those comments with the rude people rushing you or getting rid of there ps3 showed how immature they was. All they need to do was go read a book or matter of fact play the game on single player. Rushing something after a cyber attack is nothing but crazy, that will just lead to gaps in the system that would eventually lead to another attack.
I am proud of you guys and i have been a faithful fan of PlayStation since the PlayStation 1. Please continue the good work. As my family always tell me: Make this situation be another obstacle that you learn to over come. In the end you’ll gain more experience in life. <—-something like that, (^_-)~★

I am in Colorado and this is my first time signing into PSN, it let me setup but now it wont let me sign in. Lets me sign into Netflix and browse movies cant watch though because I need to be signed into the PSN.. Any suggestions? or is it Colorado that map was confusing just a sea of green

Everyone i had the server error thing and all u have to do is go to your gmail account and you will see that they emailed you a link to change your password

@2917 i got the same problem. i live in alabama and i cant reset my password for my original account. so i created a new one and cant sign into ps3. The post said it may take a while for the service to fully restore but. who know how long a while is >.>

I am really finding it amusing how people are getting all mad at sony for it going back offline for about 2 hours saying stupid things like “wow sony really” and then when its back they go like “I love you sony,Sony for life” and all that. From the start it was worst. This is funny.

( HawnKeez ) Has a very valid point. Also u can only change so much info. Once ur info is in the hands of someone with no morals your screwed. Name & address is enough to ruin anyone now days. However sony said they will be providing anti id thief which should help keep & protect you a little more. I had already joined a id protection co. a while back & i haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary as of yet. As some have committed just change your cc & pin that wont really work with ur address & full name out there. that info alone is enough to get the rest of ur info along with start new cc in ur name.
As for sony they may not of handly this they best but the are trying to make up for the faults.
