Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

now if sony will just show the same dedication to the few remaining online ps2 games and actually UPDATE a server or two, ill be a happy camper.
everyone acted so shocked and amazed…..like sony has never been hacked before. go buy a game called socom combined assault. people hack every day, walk into room and freeze peoples systems with codes.
this isnt the first attack on sony, its just the first one they NOTICED or CARED about.
I wish Sony would have put the Don’t be a jerk there while it was down. All there was to read of the comments was… “Waaaaa! I’m gonna buy an Xbox.” (Personally, I like the Wii better. XD) (AND I have all 3 systems. Before folks start bawing.) AND DID YOU FORGET YOU’RE ON A COMPUTER?! (Most 360 games come out on for Windows anyway… And my computer has less frame skipping. XD)

oK everyone who is having a problem loggin in the server is not down anywhere in north america. Just keep trying it eventually will work.

anyone know why there are 2 shades of green on the map? i live in MO, which is dark green and have no market service yet but can play on PSN. Anyone in the light green states have Market access? the map doesnt have a legened to tell you the difference…

Tips:
restart the ps3 AFTER you install the 3.61 update
then change password and reboot again n login
Alright people. This loyalty business has to stop. Sony is just a company and so is Microsoft. No need to run to either extreme. “Well Sony is the best and I could never change because I might break their hearts. THEY DON’T CARE! And for the ones who are like “I’m selling this piece of garbage and getting an Xbox” are idiots too. Maybe it’s time to invest in an Xbox though. Oh, and cross game chat… Please, Sony… Don’t ever bring it. If you want to chat to someone while in a different game just call them. Oh, they’re not that good of a friend? Then why bother?! I’d never want to be playing a game and have someone in my ear yelling about cake or some nonsense while I’m blowing something up, or playing LBP.
Cross game chat is a dumb idea for people who like to hear themselves talk. If you aren’t playing the same game as your online friend but still want to chat… Fire up Skype and call them then talk all you want.

I’m more mad that my ps3 got the red blinking light of death and then they give me a replacement that does the samething then I get back a replacement with no online accesses so I still can’t go online till the store is up that’s why im so mad not so much the PSN going down I know its a company and they could care less.

man… i had to create a new account because for some reason i couldnt reset my old account password. i kept gettin server error. and the other thing is even on this new account i cant log into psn… i live in alabama… Frustrated.
I am really quite happy that the network is back up and that we can play online… but this Kombat Kode crap is actually quite annoying… So even though you reinstated your network I cant play Mortal Kombat online until you bring the store up so i can enter that stupid code… that in all honest shouldn’t even exist… If people want to sell their games to other people they should be able too.. the big basis behind me getting my PS3 was the FREE online gaming… but now you have to buy a new code for some games just to play it online if its bought from a third party?! I mean heck if i have to pay to play a game online I would of just gotten an xbox…
