Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

Hey Patrick, you must be relieved , you can finally get your life back. Well, its been a long and sometimes trying road, but in hindsight its all cool. I did promptly delete my CC info and change my name and address. I guess its psn cards from now on. I’m just glad I’m not one of the morons who bought a 360 in haste.
I cant my ps3 broke right before the hack got my replacement back after the network was down now I can’t access the store for my online access to use any of my games online.

I’m happy PSN’s back online. Now I’m hoping we get the Store back before the end of the month. I need that Sebastian DLC for Dragon Age II like air and water. I picked this game up two days before the crash and didn’t have the chance to get it!

there were rumors about a new XMB interface and a new web browser wich i have been waiting for since i bought my first ps3.the web browser is the most important one of all to me,but i updated my ps3 last night…….and i don’t see anything diferrent at all……can anyone share some light on this for me? :o(

Thanks, Sony. I was getting real pessimistic and cynical there, but I still waited patiently for this day. Now I can finally enjoy MAG sitting down, and try some new games online. And to all of those who whined while PSN was down and said they were gonna get an Xbox instead, go ahead. Just be prepared to pay $10 more per year just to play online than it costs to get some nifty bonuses from here. Also, enjoy the vast collection of FPS games and scant collection of pretty much everything else (Not that I have anything against FPS games). I didn’t switch because, in my opinion, it was far more beneficial to wait out the outage than to blow $200+ on a new console, and then re-build my gaming library, and pay the $60/year just so I can go online. Yes, I will admit, playing against the computer tends to get old after awhile, but it was worth it. So, I’m not overly mad. I just hope that the free stuff they give us is either good or of our choice. At the very least, I’m hoping the DLC is of something I have, which might be unlikely, as I no longer have a good amount of the stuff in my trophy list if they’re going by that, and if they don’t let us choose from DLC.
Sony thank you very much for getting the PSN up as soon as you can. I’ma loyal PS3 gamer and I would never leave the PSN. I ask you to take your time on fixing the Play Station Store. Thanks (:

you guys need to stop asking for the psn store already, i mean damn first it was “when is PSN coming back” then “im concidering buying an xbox now” and now that the network is up you guys cant stop asking about the store, leave it alone and wait and play the games you were crying about 2 days ago, when the store comes back you’ll get whatever theyre giving so be patient.

Glad to hear that my state’s PSN is up and running. When i hear the Playstation Store is operational also i’ll be even more happy. Thanks for getting us operational once again Sony!

As we all had to wait and hope everday, all those people who doubt the system. Well you just made the dumbest mistake yet by trading in a $230-500 PS3 for less than $75. For a machine that has a 38% chance of breaking on you in the first three months. All you had to do was just wait for the server to come back on but nooooo, lets spend even more money on a worthless piece of crap. Yeah think that one over.

The PS Store isn’t available seeing how the PS Store has missed three of it’s weekly content updates and Sony is trying to sort out the details with regards to the Welcome Back program where some of the details needing to be sorted out is region specific. Also, the PS Store is likely the one that would need the most work done to it seeing how the PS Store is most likely what would make use of our account information and would warrant additional security since it’s the part of the system that would make use of your credit card/PSN Gift Cards/Wallets. Be patient as Sony announced that they are hoping to have more information with regards to the PS Store within the upcoming days.
