Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

Yo I never got the reset password message can someone help me? Ive tried it so many times and it still doesnt work I never got the message and if I press “x” it says “Server error has occured” after it tells me how to reset it well what I have to do…But it doesnt send me the message to my email.This is my second account…

hmmm i played last night, now when i come home from work today it says that the psn is currently undergoing maintenence. it this because many people got on at the same time, overloading it, or updates?

i am online psn and have about 20 friends online too, sounds like some people are having trouble signing in…its probably not good idea to sign out…. i got errors on playstation.com saying there was server maintenance and was getting some errors on socom4 getting into a lobby… hope its just the store and final services being restored… im sure the store will have a epicly immense update can’t wait

I was playing on my Xbox 360 and somtimes my PC too well wating for PSN to come up yesterday i got black lines on my TV when i tryed to restart the xbox 360 i got the e74 error! good thing PSN just got up today!

The company also expedited an already planned move of the system to a new data center in a different location that has been under construction and development for several months. In addition, PS3 will have a forced system software update that will require all registered PlayStation Network users to change their account passwords before being able to sign into the service. As an added layer of security, that password can only be changed on the same PS3 in which that account was activated, or through validated email confirmation, a critical step to help further protect customer data.
How?a lot of people don’t have the same ps3 any more ylod and have changed emails like me and does Sony know most ps3 players have more than one account(to have more than one online name)with emails they made up and didn’t use their real info when they signed up how will they get there accounts back.will Sony just keep the money(most are just kids and didn’t read the rules) in those accounts if you can get an answer from Sony let us know thx. Let us just change are passwords on the ps3 we have now and all will be good Sony
Thanks Sony. Just need to know when the PS Store will be up and running so I may download the online passes such as Mortal Kombat. Luckily Mortal Kombat has a free onlie trial.

About time, but the store is still down on ps3, and treyarc didn’t fix the black ops servers with 24 days of downtime to do so.
@XxR3DxXHamsterX, it was doing that on my brothers account too. Give it a bit of time. I think it’s because the system keeps going up and down due to their UM. But you should eventually recieve something. Try clicking the “forgot my password” later and go from there.

Sony’s Steve Reynolds has tweeted that he’s aware of the issue. “There is a problem with PSN in the latest countries we rolled out to (except UK, IRE & ME),” he said minutes ago.

PSN is hands down the best system to ever exist on the face of this planet.
CrapBox went down 2-3 weeks and still has hacked accounts and system.
CrapBox wont ever and will never be near or even as good as PS3.
PS3 will reign the gaming industry till PS4 comes out and so forth.
i still think sony is shooting for may 31 to bring the store online though it would be cool to have it up earlier. and sony i do want a shirt that says : I survived the PSN holocaust!
but the world ends on the 21 (jk) so i dont care.

Quickly before I head into work. You guys are awesome. I was excited yesterday when I saw the updates on firmware and when I saw the PSN slowly come back on throughout the nation. Now that the PSN is back Live, I want you guys to focus on marketing all the awesome games you guys have/had come out.
It’s gaming time and all these title releases on PSN and retail need to be put out on display for all to see, enjoy, and support!

glad that they got it up, but it took entirely too long. sony is a BILLION dollar industry. could have been prevented, should have been fixed sooner. we can go on and on. the point is its on and its over with. lets try not to have this happen again. or ill shoot everything “sony” brand that i own. love the the ps3 but cant take another month of down time or another “illegal intrusion’. its in the past, lets move on, but jesus that was ugly.
