Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

half an hour ago i was able to play medal of honor online, and now for some reason when i tried to sign back in, it said that “the psn is currently undergoing maintenance” AGAIN. am i the only one with this problem?
This is seriously becoming frustrating. I was able to play for a while this morning. I come home and PSN is down again. Can we at least get some updates, and not a generic message? Let us know if it is going to go down again. Please don’t post these “GREAT NEWS!!!” videos stating it’s back up for nothing.

Playstation network is up and running finally and I’m so happy yet it keeps going in and out in NC wtf? Anyways hopefully the problem will be fixed soon
I think they are working on bringing the Store…Cause the store is constantly loading.

I originally laughed when reading all the comments the past month. Now, especially after they’re starting to restore the PSN, people ARE STILL WHINING. Some people have JOBS and a LIFE they have to live. For me, PSN is merely entertainment. Isn’t that the name of the company? SONY ENTERTAINMENT. Don’t get so bent out of shape when something goes wrong. Do you work for Sony? Do you run a network? Can you create a network that millions, maybe more, use? Then stop whining on a blog page that will get you no attention besides negative. It takes more than a couple days to re-do a network. They told us that originally because they thought it would take a few days.
I’m with the “I want the Store” guys but at least I can copy all that Digimon 02 to my PSP now…and FF7

If your “personal information” was retrieved, cry about it. EVERYBODY’S WAS. If you have credit card info on there, that’s your own problem. IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYBODY ON ANY WEBSITE USING CREDIT INFORMATION. Ebay, Amazon, PayPal, or any other website you’re required to have a credit card can get hacked.
Sure I didn’t like not playing black ops for a month straight. I work 8 hours a day, come home and play. But I had to find other means to consume time. Stop acting like somebody shot your mother. Sony doesn’t have to promise you anything. In fact, I would hope they penalize anybody running their mouth ON SONY’S WEBSITE.

Dear Sony and Mr. Hirai,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am not talking for ALL PS3 users, only those who feel the same as I do, which is the majority I am sure. We were frustrated, not so much at you (Sony) but at 2 people. 1.) The insignificant, heartless bugs who did this to our beloved network, and 2.) Ourselves, for taking PSN for granted. We now realize just how valuable our Network is, how close our cyber buddies are and how much of a stress release PS3 really is. For all of your work and dedication Sony, thank you, from the PS3 community.

this is crappy and very frustrating. I was able to get the update and change my password, and also play black ops last night. but now I turn on the ps3 and try to login into psn, and its telling me psn is currently under maintance. what the hell is going on? I live in washington state does anybody have answers?

Illinois is back on again. I wonder if South Park is going to do a episode on the playstation notwork. Saw the “No Internet” episode the other day, reminded me of this situation.
