Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

Yes! After over 3 weeks I can finally participate in the comments on here. Drove me crazy to not be able to contribute on here. I can certainly appreciate having PSN back online (Bloodshot eyes from being up too late binge gaming LOL). I do hope Sony and more specifically the PR team for Sony learned some lessons . Communication to your customers is vital in crisis situations.

i love this rivalry between ps3 and xbox fans. you do realize that these things people keep asking for like xgame chat, in game music, being able to see trophies by pushing the center button xbox has had sice it came out. on the other hand ps3 has a blu ray player, better line up of games that im sure xbox would like to get ahold of and PS also does have seniority. so they have there perks they have there downfalls. but please continue the rivalry i love seeing what people say i own both so i guess im more like a double agent. actually a mercenary whoever offers more i tend to side with until the other steps it up. i may not be a hardcore sony or xbox fan, but i can gladly say im a gamer. just like merkin fools online anyway i can. Psn is back up, yay, now we wait for playstation store and our free games which we never got.
I would really like to know when the store will be back up? because my original Ps3 which I had for about 5-6yrs. developed the Red Blinking Light of Death 4 mons. ago so I had to wait a month to get the money up and then I payed SCEA to fix it and sent it in to them got it back 18 days later only to get a replacement Ps3 that developed the same problem 2 mons. later. I’m not doing anything different then the 1st 5-6 yrs. I had my Ps3. I have it in an open area and vacuum the air vents to stop dust from building up! So again I had to send it in to be fixed and again 18 days later I get it back which was about 2 and a half weeks ago only to find out that PSN was hacked into and that the network was down. Plus I was told if it were to happen a 3rd time after the 90 days that they garantee there work for I would have to pay again to have it fixed there should be a lemon rule if a problem happens 3 times it should be fixed for free. Anyways now PSN is back up and I still can’t go online cause my 2nd replacement Ps3 does not have any of my games online accesses so all in all I haven’t really been able to use my Ps3 for 3 mons. out of the last 5 so aggrivated and fed up I know everybody is saying I’m getting an Xbox if it was just the network being down I could deal with just that, but after all this I’m definitely considering it when the next generation of Xboxes and Ps4’s come out unless I get something for free on top of what they are giving for the network being down!

Welcome back Sony, glad to see that you are getting back on your feet. However I’m afraid you have lost my trust in you. After changing my password the next thing I did after getting back into my PSN account was to remove my credit card details from the account. Not sure if I’m going to let you have them back either, trust, after all, is earned.
GUYS STOP ASKING WHEN WILL THE STORE BE BACK UP. THERE TRYING TO FIX SOME BUGS IN IT UNTILL THEN GET ONLINE AND PLAY AND STOP CRYING ABOUT IT. I KNOW SOME OF US AND MOST OF US HAVE CODES TO REDEEM AND SOME DUE EXPERED BUT IM SURE PSN WILL WORK THING OUT WITH YOU/US

PSN has 77 million users (includes PS3, PlayStation.com, and PSP) but it is all connected.
During the last CES Xbox reported 30mil while PSN had 60.
now we wait for the store, with that comes all the “free” crap they promised us
I want the store back up so I can get Back to the Future Episode 3. I already paid for it with the season pass, so I want it now! I also want the new Fallout: New Vegas DLC which is set for release on the 17th. I can wait for the Fallout DLC but I want my copy of BTTF E3.

Thank you sony for the hard work and the long hours you put for us the people of the psn community. i know most of you left home without your kids wife or husband you sacrifice everything to give us now a good and secure psn.
I can’t deal with poor quality parts and poor service on top of poor PSN security! I have always been a loyal Sony fan, but over the last few months I have been let down multiple times and no longer hold them in the same regard!

Soooo, the PSN was down for a month and most of you are happy because they finally did their job (we’ll see), albeit somewhat poorly?? That’s a recipe on how to get fired wherever I’ve worked and I fully expect that someone high up will definitely be “resigning.”
Secondly, Hulu Plus offered me ONE free WEEK although my service was down for ONE MONTH. Looks like I’ll be getting rid of Hulu Plus – more money for me I guess *shrug and a sigh*
