Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

IDK how “good” Live is suppose to be. I’ve played it, and I think its SHlT! The XBOX dashboard is cluttered too! Plus, PSN is a better community. Live is like the ghetto and PSN is a gated community.
I am a fan of video games! I play them on both systems! I know a better online service when I see one!

i supporeted sony from day one withe the ps1,ps2,ps3,and so much money spent. but i found that supporting one system was a mistake so i bought a xbox 360 slim and havent stoped playing it because a great game no wath system it on is a great game.

I am not dissing either system, just stateing facts that XBOX LIVE is much faster than PSN with connections and downloads, and less lag, I own both 360 and ps3, so its cold hard facts in my comparisons

I had my PS3 for at least 3 years. If I had Live it would be $60 a year or $180 for 3. (ignoring the fact that they only recently changed it to $60) Thats money that could be used for a lot of things.

Very true, but I was actually a little disapointed whith the connection quality on XBox live. It’s at least as good as PSN, better probably but with dedicated servers I expected no connection errors and no host migrations while playing COD on dedicated servers. Still, Live is VERY impressive after playing on the PSN for so many years.
You know now that it’s finally over…It just doesn’t seem like it’s been that long
