Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!
Finally back on, to find out Mortal Kombat is way too slow on line. :-(

1839 – one month of a free service, and you’re complaining? it’s not like you pay anything, and sure, when you bought you’re ps3 you bought it with getting the psn free and accessibly in mind (I know I did), but you can’t expect a business to continue doing business if they just give everything away for free. Sony’s lost a TON of revenue over this whole debacle, and I think it’s pretty darn nice that they offer non-subscription users ANYTHING, even if it’s just a token. Sony just spent 20 some days in the frying pan to do the best they can to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again. I’m not bedazzled by their PR, but I think a month’s free ps+ is a nice gesture, even if I don’t really think I’ll get any use out of it.

Okay firstly psn is back up that is awesome, secondly i heard talk of free content please be zombie maps, or maybe some funds in our “wallets.” And psn through all of this no matter WHAT happens and no matter how many people switched to 360, XBOX 360 STILL SUCKS.

It’s great to be back! I have supported Sony through the whole outage; yes it was tough. But I’m not about to let go of the company I’ve been loyal to since 1995 (when I was 6 years old). When I heard about the hacking, I simply cancelled my credit card and was sent a new one. Problem solved. Yes, Sony did need an security overhaul on a global scale. Sometimes things happen for a reason and I believe this to be no different. I’ve loved having PSN back! Thank you Sony.

Thx Sony for all the time and effort u guys put into getting us back online. It been a long wait but for security reasons I guess it was worth it. All those people that said they were going to xbox forget em. They ain’t true Sony fans and will miss out in the future
