Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!
@Joseph_425
how often do you play rdr and wat lvl ru
Im so happy i did’nt have to use that corny xbox 360.lucky for me i own all 3 systems. But im very happy sony fixed the problem. My advice to sony is just be honest have a more sercure network so next time we can be more prepared.Sony u are the best if u was’nt know one would care.O yea were is the free stuff. LOL.
Hmm. Sony really dropped the soap on this one. And where is the ID theft protection for the rest of the world? The hackers got through to the system through a known vulnerability and yet again Sony is dragging their feet with bringing the rest of their customers with the same protection that they offered to the Americans. Don’t think for one moment that I’ve forgotten the fact that my name address email and other information is in the hands of malicious and opportunist people waiting to pounce on any opportunity where they can exploit that information. Big corporations always take short cuts thinking no one will find out, trying to save a buck. How many more things are there that Sony is hiding from us that may or may not come out someday. I guess Sony is taking the approach of “easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.” I will continue to play on PSN because that’s what I payed for when I purchased my two PSPs and my PS3 and games, but no way do they deserve any gratitude.
What about PSN?
60$ a year for XBOX SUCKS
Thank you Sony. I just want to know when the Playstation Store will be backup. But at least the regular PSN is backup! Thanks again!
i agree with u joseph 425
As for the “welcome back” package. That’s just ridiculous. Two out of five (or two out of four for PSP users), there are lots of games out there that are great, but undoubtedly the selection will be slim pickings, at best. “Here’s five pieces of lint I have in my pocket, you not only get to choose one but TWO pieces of lint. Am I not so generous?” One month of PSN+, LOL, that’s not a gift. I can only see Sony profiting from that offer. I would rather know my info is safe, but what can you do? (other than patch up KNOWN security holes).
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
The PSN is now available in Israel just for the notice .
Thanks Sony!
Enough of the damn ?’s about the store…read the blog…you no speak english?? Now for a more relevant question: Where is our codes for AllClear ID PLUS that were supposed to be emailed to us over a week ago????..Anyone know??
I mean PSP
All that’s left is PS Store!
Wanted to see when I’m getting my free Identity theft protection and free Playstation Plus membership Keltoy. Is that a problem? Can’t play COD while I watch the race.
ok first. thank you sony for getting back up and running, you guys did a great job under the circumstances
2. to all you little whiney babies that put them down for something out of their control, you deserve x-box not an elite system like ps3. good ridance to all you who dumped sony for microsoft.
3. to all the little whiney babies who wanted to dump sony for microsoft over a free service..lol. you folks are a joke and should be slapped upside your little heads.
4. to all you really true sony fans who stuck with them, you all rock and make me glad to be part of a TRUE gaming community. i salute you all. and commend you all for sticking with sony through these tough times. lets all get out there and show the X babies what they will miss.
peace out folks stay true
corny joke
when xbox goes to sleep it triple checks it closet for ps3
i agree with u joseph 425
we waited so long today is the day
i am playing mk9 online right now. loving it thx sony
Today as I was playing on the PS3 I was sent to the logging page and a message appear saying that SOMEONE SIGN IN USING MY ID I think that hackers are still able to hack into our accounts.
I am extremely confused at the appreciation people users are showing for being treated this poorly by Sony. My guess is Sony’s PR department is implanting fake blog replies to spin online opinion of the gaming equivalent of the Deep Water Horizon spill. Sony is responsible for having faulty blowout preventers and I will not thank them for the cleanup of something that never should have happened in the first place.
However, I enjoy my PS3 and I hope this is a wake-up call for Sony executives to alot the security team (if there actually is one) the resources necessary to avoid future outages. If two years go by without issue, I will personally write a letter to Sony thanking them for showing maturity by admitting fault, fixing the problem and following through with it over time. Rising above mistakes is what impresses me as a consumer and I expect nothing else from an electronics giant I’ve trusted for so many years.
I wanna start spending this 500 bucks of psn station cash. But alteast the music works.
guys who has DC universe online?
All I can say is ‘Yay’! I have more in next post…

@bigben_10

And that will come in time I’m weary about data stuff.
just be patient about the ps store other countries need to have online first
While online an error popped up and said someone else with the same id just signed on and kicked me out of my game. Hopefully this is just a kink that needs to be worked out with the network coming back online. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
Finally merkin’ in Black ops again, Swag.. SONY FINALLY CAME THROUGH :)
YES FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! now lets get ps store back

thanks guys! all of my friends said they might be switching to xbox360 but i never even dreamed of switching. do you wanna know why? because you guys are THE BEST! through all this hacking i knew you guys had good security its just that the hackers were so smart!
I want to meet datastorm in person. That guy can only copy and paste bs during the whole outage. I wish I could clear his cookies!
I think sony blocked my comment. I guess I will block their services from my household.
Anybody know what they mean by you can change your password via VERIFIED EMAIL?
Why wouldn’t a hacker be able to change our passwords again if they have our email addresses?
THIS IS FANTASTIC!
Now if only I could figure out why Clash of Heroes won’t save my online progress…
Still, stoked that PSN is back up! I played Portal 2 with my brother last night!
be patient about ps store!!!!!!!!!!
or
Portal 2 with Steam is great.
Psn restoration has now gone live in UK Ireland and areas in the middle east
Thank you so much for the hard work you guys did I am really happy we pulled through this . I hope that in the future sony will be better prepared for this type of situation.
Thanks for bringer the network back up in time for my Second ME2 play-through. and don’t worry about all these people raging, I’m pretty sure the good majority of us understood how big a fix this had to be as soon as they heard the news stories.
I play for a couple hours a day. Do the math, $60 a year is a great deal for a reliable network. I was REALLY hoping that while the PSN was down they would work on improving the functionality of it. I love the party chat on XBox, I was really hoping that Sony would add that feature while the network was down.
