Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

thx u finaly… i was suspended for 6days and i couldnt play online.. and now i can and i been playing cod with my buddy for about an hour now…rumor- say we get free plus and other free stuff becuz of the network beening down so long..is it true??

hello fellow sony fans im, im glad the psn is back up and i would like to say that i would like to meet with some of ya on home, if you wana find me im at loot space station….
now on to a pressing matter that i must tell sony and sony if you do indeed read these then you will be happy to know i had actually met one of the hackers, i do beilve he was where i am he was able to gain acess to the Airlock, his screen name(now i dont want anyone going and hunting him down except sony) is XxYoungCasperxX, im just doing my part which i think all should do to keep the psn up and only go down for updates. which is to report anyone who is botching the system in anyway! thank you for bringing us back online sony and i have been a loyal fan since ps first came out!
Really hoping the Store will be back up within a couple of days. Thanks to the odd way that Netherrealm did Mortal Kombat’s online, I can’t redeem my Kombat Pass to use it and am stuck having to use a free two day trial…. I also can’t redeem all of my other codes (or should I say “kodes”?) for the game. Klassic Reptile, Klassic Ermac, Klassic Jade, and my avatar and theme pack. They’re all begging to be redeemed!

Last night when I was at 50% threw with the update my ps3 shuts off on it’s own. When I try to turn it back on my ps3 turns on for a second then the light goes from red to blue to yellow back to a blinking red light. I was so excited for the psn to go back up and now I’m really pissed cause of this update my 40gb ps3 wont turn on !!!
P.S I was waiting on L.A Noir, how would you fix this problem with out me buying a new ps3 or paying you guys to fix the problem that your product or the update did!!

If you are a paying + member or something of that nature I can defiantly see why they would want to and should get compensation for the PSN being down.
Though for other people, I feel no sympathy. /: They need to learn a thing or two about patience.

I took for granted how much I enjoy playing ANY MP gamr, until PSN went offline. Playing single player mode and racking up the trophies was OK, it got old all too quick. Thank you Sony for you hard work to bring PSN back online, and all of you are able to have justice served on whoever was responsible for this. I would like to have my version of justice served, but that would be a little too much.

It’s good to be back. I’ve been on Socom 4 all morning so far and things have been running great. It was well worth the wait to be honest. Here’s hoping the hackers get what’s coming to them and we can enjoy the PSN to it’s fullest without anymore problems like this.

Congrats Sony for getting PSN Back online. I believe you guys handled this very well.
Others PSN User and myself are glad to be back online. Those who switched from
PS3 to XBox basically swithced from free to PAY TO PLAY(PTP).
I think we PSN users should get Escalation MAP Pack for COD Balck Ops for free.
And Myself with other PSN users would like Cross-Game Chatiing. It would be very conveinient
for all users.

This is great news! I knew it took a while for restoration and was quite patient through the whole process! Happiness ensues!
Although the days were plentiful, I saw that there was a number of comments left by some indignant people who take this network for granted. Its a free network and Sony has given us so much in return! Why must those who dont get things their way have to be so ungrateful for what we hold even when its gone for a moments worth?
I just wanted to get that out in the open, some of the complaints left in the comments were so dimwitted that it irritated me. People just dont understand that a process in restoring anything starts from the ground up! You dont leave any rock unturned and testing is to ensure functionality. Complaining wont get us any where!
