Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

for those of u who say they havent gotten there email yet check your spam mail i found mine in there
I’m excited to see some progress but for the few people in my situation basically everything is still offline. I bought a PSP Go the day of the outage, so a download only system with a network outage basically is a small brick until the store is online. I’ve only had the patapon 2 demo to sustain me. So thanks for getting the network up, but here’s hoping the store is soon to follow.

Thanks Sony…for a min there I was about to get rid of my PS3 for a Xbox. But then I remembered…remembered the good ol’ days when there was no such thing as online play. So I stuck with it and now I’m burning rubber on GT5. :D
PSN will fully be online by May 31, is when the store comes back, can’t wait so i can download my dlc for my game!

Bringing PSN back online took forever to happen. What were the Sony PS3 engineers doing all this time and the time before the hack? Were the engineers busy playing with themselves??? Get your game together Sony. Bring the PSN Store back online in less than 2 days and not next week or next month. Sony you will have to stop your engineers from watching anime all day and do some real work on PlayStation.
One more hack or BS like this and Im off to 360 or the Wii!

Hey I have an account that I never downloaded anything from but the promised email isn’t coming and it’s been hours. Has anyone else had this problem and if so does anyone know how to fix it?

While I was far from impressed with your initial notification procedures, and even less impressed with the lack of timely useful information, I’ve remained a loyal Playstation fan throughout. Hopefully you’ve reinforced your security and configuration management policies enough to preclude issues like this one.
Now I have 24 days of Black Ops butt kicking to make up for. You have no idea how dysfunctional I’ve been during this tmeframe. I guess that’s nothin more than a sad commentary as to how much time I spend plaing on Playstation. Rock on SONY…!
