Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

So, everyone was moaning and moaning because it was down for so long. It was just barely down for a month and apparently some people’s lives were ruined by this. Says a lot about them and what they have going for them in their lives. Or rather what they DON’T have going for them.
And now that its back, these same people are now moaning and moaning still, this time asking for their free stuff.

So I woke this morning and decided to work some more on AC Brotherhood which I picked up during the outage for some good offline gaming. However, I will not be playing it because I had a nice message telling me a system up date was required. So now its time to PWN SOME NOOBS!!!!!…. Sorry Ezio, your cool and and Imma let you finish, but KZ3, Black Ops, and MvC3 are some of the best games online right now XD.
Thank you Sony for all the long hours put into fixing the network. Your next step should be to give the whole team that put in the massive number of hours into fixing it a couple days off… a couple of PAID days off. They deserve it. They can start working on the store and any other services after that.
@people who bought Xbox360s….. Have fun with those when they break. My original PS still works, my Xbox 360 died in a year…. Nuff said.
P.S. This should be a holiday celebrated by all PS owners from now on. We’ll do cool stuff like eat lots and play video games all day…. Wait a minute. that sounds familiar…..Hmmm….. I’ll have to get back to you on this idea.

Been laying low since the whole fiasco to keep from getting impatient from the daily updates of the network still being down but now it’s back up! I have 2 ps3’s (slim and original fat 20gb ps3) and the original fat 20gb has been rendered useless when it comes to playing ps2 games. I bought the system with the built in backwards compatibility at launch and because of patch 3.61 I cannot play a ps2 game in it (it wont even recognize the disk–and my disks are flawless and I tried multiple before anyone asks)…. anyone else having this issue? If this is the case then I really hope its an oversight on Sony’s part….. because if they took it out on purpose thats crap.
woot woot, the network is back up and now its time to kick some serious rear at black ops. i had to be the most bored person on earth waiting for the network to come back up, i even resorted to watching the auction network channel on tv to pass time lol.

While PSN was down, my file system was accidentally corrupted. I had to format it, and I LOST EVERYTHING!!!
Level 9 in trophies, everything in MW2, 9th Prestige black ops, aced every LBP/2 level, lvl 36 in GT 5. Everything!
As it turns out, I didn’t. My CoD stuff was stored on the servers. The only thing I lost was class names and such.
My trophies, man was I sad. Then, when I signed onto PSN I was still lvl 9! I thought if I synced it, it would take it to what I had saved, BUT IT DIDNT! When I synced it, ALL of my trophies were back! =D
Lastly, my GT 5 save is in good shape. Using the amazing cloud storage, I gave my save to a friend for help. He still has it! I can just get my lvl 30 save from him. I will lose 6 lvls and 14 mil cr, BUT IM HAPPY!!!!!!
