Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

I’m not mad for two reasons. One, I didn’t have a credit card on file, prepaid all the way. However, I did have about $10 from a prepaid card I redeemed before the network went down, hopefully that’s still there.
And secondly, the Gears of War 3 beta came up around the same time, so I had something to do while waiting.
I redeemed my Mortal Kombat online pass, how will I download it with the Store still down? Thanks in advance!

thanks 4 getting our network back up. i dont mind the down time as long as its fixed 4 good. hopefully we wont have as many hackers (cheaters) on games such as cod

Glad online gameplay is back! I’m so sick of the haters. Sony’s network had flaws but I hate when people said they were asking for it or had it coming, as if it was their fault. The fault lies with the criminal hackers. It’s despicable.
Finally I can comment here. Thanks Sony, and for those that change from PS3 to Xbox360 Saturday, well, enjoy paying for the online gaming!!

Well done Sony. lets see how many of those people who were bashing you come back and play on PSN…And heres to you Mr. Seybold….you did a great job for the hand that you were dealt. This whole situation had almost nothing to do with you and you were giving updates as you were allowed/told to do. So on that I give you two thumbs up on a great job. and for all those other questions that are being asked about the store…if people would take the time to read and do a little research, the store will most likely be up by the end of the month. People still need to take a deep breath and say thank you to Sony for having the online play back. they could have waited longer and put everything back online all at once but they were thinking of their costumers and decided to put it back online in stages. And it was a great move for you at Sony. So for that I will once again say thank you to Sony and keep up the good work. And you to Mr. Seybold, keep up the great job.

its a bout time, i mean i understand they had to “beefup” security but almost a month, come on- still i was so happy when the network went green in my state. I DONT HAVE TO CHECK PLAYSTATION.com EVERYDAY TO SEE IF ITS UP AND RUNNING ANYMORE–hlls yeah———-YOUR LUCKY PLAYSTATION, THAT IM A DEDICATE PLAYSTATION GAMER,lol, I was gonna hook my xbox back up but i said no i’ll wait to see what playstation is gonna do. Playstation has more mature adults and more mature people playing so that is the reason playstsation rocks, i’ll admit that ive jammed out on the xbox for awhile when it came out but that is because when PS3 came out (when i gt mine) nobody was playin online(which suxd) so i went to online on xbox. As soon as ppl started getn a PS3 and playin online, i started playin PS3 more online and said lata xbox. Ill admit that Playin online thru PS3 is way better than xbox. So with all that said lets try and keep the network up this time- shall we?
