Want to become Famous? Want to become a Mission Designer and have your mission appear in inFAMOUS 2? As promised, here are the juicy details of how to participate in the inFAMOUS 2 Limited Release User Generated Content (UGC) Beta.
Potential candidates can sign up at inFAMOUSthegame.com starting on Monday March 14th at 12pm Noon Pacific Time using the “Sign Up for the UGC Beta” link on the front page. The sign-up period will only last for one week, ending March 21st at 2pm Pacific, so don’t miss your chance to create. Using what can only be described as “voodoo magic,” we will select a group of lucky winners to participate in the Beta Test, starting April 12th. The ambitious and talented Mission Designers that are selected will be emailed a golden ticket, which is technically called a Beta Voucher, in early April. The Beta Vouchers will be sent out in phases, so if you do not get one immediately, you may receive one later on. Don’t let it get spam-filtered out, because it’s the only way you can get in!
All the legal requirements are available here. Read them, know them, live them, because you wouldn’t want your mission to not make the cut due to a technicality. That would be weak. For instance: Did you know that, even if you already registered to the website, you will need to re-register? See what I mean? You didn’t. Neither did I, but it is a legal requirement. You need to register your email on the registration page, by clicking the cleverly titled checkbox that says “Enter me into the UGC Beta Program Sweepstakes.”
Also, this UGC Beta sign up is only open to US residents, as there is a separate process for other territories.
We want to see what you can do, so don’t sleep on this. Keep in mind, the best of these missions will be handpicked by Sucker Punch to auto-populate into every user’s game world on or near the launch day of inFAMOUS 2. If that smells like win to you, then do your best to be creative, innovative, and to polish your mission(s) to the quality of a shipping title. Beta participants will lead the way at launch, but once the game is released, the floodgates open for mission designers around the globe to Become FAMOUS.

I’m seriously and legitimately considering boycotting Infamous 2 what with the apparent favoritism to only U.S residents. It is a severe disappointment to me and lots of my friends that we don’t even get a chance to try it out because we are not from the U.S.
It’s a good thing I haven’t pre-ordered it yet. At least there are many other games coming out this year that I can enjoy that won’t single out people that don’t live in a specific country.

Im getting kinda reeeeaaalllly sad on this one, after all the competitions i see , i get all ready up to join only to see that it is for the US residents, what about the EU residents, do we get some fun at all or?
I just re-registered, hopefully I’ll get the beta. This is easily my most anticipated game, I just pre-ordered the hero edition today. June 7th cannot get here fast enough.

That’s all fine and dandy for European PS plus members, however I’m a Canadian PS Plus member and I can’t even enter this because it’s only open to US residents.
I’m gonna boycott it just because of that? Yes, I am. I’m not going to shell out $60 for this game anymore. Will I buy in one day down the line? Sure, when it’s in the bargain bin or as a greatest hit, but if there truly is no way for Canadians to get access to that, that is utter BS.

It’s more about principle for me – with the amount of games that are on my list of games to buy this year, along with some that are still on my list that I haven’t bought yet because I haven’t had the time to play them, not getting Infamous 2 on day one is going to be nothing terrible for me. I only ever got Infamous because I got it for an extra $5 with a controller bundle (controllers normally 54.99, bundle was 59.99). I was pretty excited to here about the created missions aspect of the game (I was more than likely not going to get the game before that). But the simple fact that there isn’t a possible way for Canadians to get in is bogus. As far as I can tell, there is no real rational behind it as other games have included Canadians in the beta and what not.
Sure, we do get “free” health care, but our taxes pay for that too. I’m not sure how health care plays into any conversation about video games, I have yet to suffer a heart attack or any health condition as a result of video games.

It’s not just because theres other games. It’s because you’re angry and wont support the developers because you cant into the beta. If there’s so many other games you’re interested in stop being so hung up on this beta and go play those other games.

On one hand I’m extremely excited for this game so I want to try out the beta, on the other I really want to be blown away by the experience when it is released and don’t want to spoil anything.

1st, I just want to say, I absolutely LOVE this new decked out design of the blog! Sleek and bold, a perfect appeal to all gamers. XD Great job who ever decided to change it. 2nd, as with everyone else, I would love to have the chance at playing the BETA. LittleBigPlanet and ModNationRacers may have not been my types of Play, Create, Share games, but maybe InFamous will give me a run for my money. XD
