  • Memory? Has to be a lot or do we have to buy cards separately?

  • Battery life? Price?

Other than that its looking great! Uncharted and Little Big Planet? Better start saving up my money :D

  • Well, just like I posted in the other blog post about the NGP, appears Sony is doing the old screw job once again now screwing over original PSP owners like the original Xbox owners got screwed from Microsoft with the 360.

  • ProjectInfiniti: “This is Sony here: Proprietary accessories.”

Yeah, like the standard usb ports on the PS3.

And the standard off the shelf laptop drive upgrades for the PS3.

Way to make a complete fool out of yourself. Think before running your mouth off again.

  • Any internal memory? if so how much is there? Also Video out to TV?

  • @AddisonW

Yeah, not unlike the completely new proprietary USB cord, power adapter, component/av cords, cradle, and M2 micro sticks that PSP Go forced users to buy if they thought they could just simply use their original PSP accessories. You mean like that?

Yeah, next time you want to chump another poster, made sure you’re not in any shape of form the chump yourself.

  • Will it come in red? I need it to match my new red BMW m3.

  • Also in the states will the 3G service be CDMA or GSM or both? I’m going to guess GSM but I like options.

  • as i really don’t have very much to say about the umd thing, since i only own 2 right now.. i do have a couple questions.. will the bluetooth connect to a ps3 controller like the pspgo did? will there be video out, to play on my tv? and one i know you can’t comment on, so leave it out if you have to.. but, is there any sort of projected price point for the system? all very important info for me determining whether or not i’ll buy it..

  • Beast everything i want from a handheld! my concerns are :

1- Is it region free or not? i am interested to play a JP made
games and i might travel a lot so i think this system has to
    region free :)

    2- Can i import my PS1/PSP saves ?

3- Is there any possibility of HDMI output via usb ?

4- Can i have more than one account ? like my PS3 account and my old PSP account for example ?

  • SuperTiso,

    Shut up dimwit.

  • Sony is giving itself room to grow, every oled screen can literally put out refresh rates of up to 100,000 Hz, couple that with a bluetooth shutter glass and you have a better 3d than a parallax crap nintendo has. it only requires an update from sony as always. See with the ps3, they thought out all these from the start.

  • This thing is a beast. COD portable will sell this device alone!

  • I’m really disappointed that Sony didn’t take advantage of the ONE thing that it was pushing so hard at this year’s CES, namely 3D. I mean come on Sony, you’re puting a glasses free 3D screen on your bloggie video device, but you’re not putting it on the next gen psp? Talk about a wasted opportunity, not only could you have cornered the market with 3d movies available on PSN, but think of all the high quality games that could’ve been enjoyed on the PSP2. Instead, the 3DS will be the only portable 3D device on the market when Sony could’ve easily have put up a solid play for and possibly win that market.

I am also not a fan of the touch screen. Do gamers need or even want a touch screen? the XMB is simple and effective and elegant. Maybe if this was a phone the touchscreen and its added cost would’ve make sense, but i don’t really see the point of it, other than to drown the platform with iphone type casual games.

  • I cant believe it doesnt have umd/bluray-based UMD. Backwards compatibility with PSN but not UMD is a slap in the face to most PSP owners. I own 6 PSPs, and I wont be getting PSP2 anywhere near launch. Way to make your existing owners happy.

And flash? What was the reason you used CD/DVD/UMD/BRD in the first place? Cause it cost many times less? You’ve ruined game development!

  • dont worry, sony is giving itself room to grow, every oled screen can literally put out refresh rates of up to 100,000 Hz, couple that with a bluetooth shutter glass and you have a better 3d than a parallax crap nintendo has. it only requires an update from sony as always. See with the ps3, they thought out all these from the start.

  • Im also disappointed at the lack of 3D, that means I need a 3DS.
And that new UI is UGLY. The XMB was awesome! Award winning even!

  • @63
Well that “Parallax crap Nintendo” doesn’t require glasses. Which – even if it would be better looking – really is NOT an option on a MOBILE device…

  • @AddisonW

Yeah, spoken like a chump. I thought so. Again, next time, unless you’re 100% right don’t ever try to throw some wannbe virtual weight around the internet unless you know what you’re talking about.

    Now you can shut up.

  • Will the NGP and the games be region free ?

  • glasses free 3d requires you to sit at one spot and its kinda hard to do that when you playing a game plus it reduces viewing angle, that is where the 5 inch oled comes in. 3d is just an update away if sony knows what it is doing, sell a nice 3d glass for $30 and i wont mind buying

  • I was just wondering if you could clarify about how the software titles will be released…

Do you mean that there will be a slot for a flash memory card to expand the memory and save digitally distributed games on to? Or that each individual game will be sold on it’s own card that resembles a flash card?

  • “This backward compatibility is a mess, I have more than 50 UMDs that’s not supported in NGP (PSP2)”

    Same here:

Which means I wont be buying PSP2, a system I’ve waited years for already.

  • the new flash-based cards… are they a new propriety media card that isn’t apart of PC’s currently? Then again, the ability to still connect to the PC will be there through USB most likely. I hope there isn’t a way for game copying then, for Sony’s sake.

  • you are forgetting that sony is at the fore front in 3d tech. I cant wait for you to play the 3ds and tell me how crappy the 3d is.

  • ► Battery Life ?
► Bluetooth should of been up to date to Bluetooth v3.0+HS
► Mobile network connectivity should of been(4G)

But I’d say we wouldn’t need most things as I said above because it’s not like it will be fully used anyways because most Bluetooth headsets are up to pair with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR anyways like the PlayStation Bluetooth headsets both older and new Official PlayStation Headsets.

The Most thing I rather seen was 4G because 3G is not as fast as you really want especially when you compare to WiFi in the NGP aka PSP2 is way faster by a long mile then the basic 3G.
*Average speeds found below on 3G Networks
► AT&T: broadband access, provides download speeds of up to 1.7Mbits/s and uploads of up to 484Kbit/sec

► Verizon: broadband access, provides download speeds of up to 1.4Mbits/s and uploads of up to 232Kbit/sec.

► Sprint: broadband access, provides download speeds of up to 1.2Mbits/s and uploads of up to 294Kbit/sec.

  • I think people are giving credibility to this 3D gimmick too much. While the gimmick will sell toward to the sheep Nintendo always gets, in the end it’s not practical. You have to be at a certain angle, probably in a certain light, who knows the long term effects or damage it could cause to children/adults eyes.

Sony could easily be an update away from offering 3D on the machine. Then again, why bother when we’ll be straining our eyes on a small screen? I’m not the least disappointed with the PSP2 aside from the design being that of the original model. I guess now normal PSP users will go through what us Go owners had to deal with library wise.

  • @68
Last time I checked, I think you do sit at one spot when you play a portable system, I doubt many of us are going to be walking down the street playing games, looking at the angle you need to, which is straight into it. Portables are a personal system, who cares if your friend sitting next to you can’t see it. They should get their own :D And I seriously doubt 3D glasses will be at the 30 dollar price range by the end of the year, and furthermore, this thing better be bright as hell because everyone knows with those glasses, the brightness of your experience goes down significantly.

  • 3d is not a gimmick go to the movie theater and watch a nice 3d movie. I have seen some movies on a 3d tele and i must say its not that bad, its a relatively new tech which if you paid any attention to CES you would see it has improved alot. I love the psp2 the way it is but i’d like for sony to shot those nintendo fan boys up by doing it and doing it better.

  • Dude first we aint robots so we cant sit still while playing games be it on ps3 or psp, we move our hands and heads and the slightest head movement ruins the 3d on a parallax 3d system.

  • @oluka007
That’s exactly what I was hoping the psp2 would do, but unfortunately that seems it will not be the case. And they’re already doing it with their bloggie, they have a glasses free 3d display on it for 250. I of course have not seen the 3DS in person, but almost every video game news outlet has been impressed by it, so I tend to go with their opinion rather than some random person commenting.

  • Do the sticks click in for L3/R3 buttons?

** Things to Add Please **

► Please add a Mini HDMI Port (VIDEO AND AUDIO OUTPUT)
► Mini USB Port (Charge Device and Transfer Data)

Why make a special port and have to use a special cable to hook up to charge and transfer any data to and from a PC.

Let me guess this does not come included to play video and it’s only to charge and transfer data when you clearly don’t need to rip off the customer and need make that cable use of all 3 things such as: (Video, Charge, Transfer)

Will this NGP (aka PSP2) make use to hook up to a TV for gameplay use? Lets Hope so.

  • When im talking about viewing angles im not talking about tilting your head at an angle im talking about your pov. say you see an enemy in a game with 3d off when you turn 3d on you cant see that enemy at same spot you have to move closer to the character to see him, just like aspect ratios.

  • To be honest i dont need to hook up my portable game system to the tv (keyword = portable) thats why i have my ps3.

  • This thing will be super pricey at launch. I predict nearly 400 bucks.

  • i cant wait for the NGP i mean it looks epic and plus it is made from playstation of course its gonna be good playstation is way better than xbox 360 crap the only thing i was displeased with was they didn’t say anything about zipper interactive ( hint MAG best game ever ) that would be awesome mag on the go i can picture it already me VALOR killling s.v.e.r. like there was no tomorrow ya playstation MAG2 available only on PS3 and NGP sony MAKE.BELIEVE.

  • Awesome, I got the PSP when it first came out and I’ll get this when it comes out.

Now all I want to know is price and when an I’ll be set.

  • Any word on the front and back camera megapixels? Also will it allow video chat or recording?

  • WHOOT WHOOT!!! This is a day one buy for me as lon as its not 500 bucks that is lol!

  • Dear PlayStation,

If you need product testers to test the NGP in the field, I’m your man.

  • Nice specs but will it have the games to support it? Looking at the other handheld, the PSP is lacking in the software department.

    @Sid Shuman
Wow Sid, you did a very piss-poor job of answer @26 konarkanuck question. He asked if we are ONLY GOING TO GE ACCESS TO THE PSP TITLES THAT ARE AVAILABLE ON THE PLAYSTATION STORE.

  • Awesome, THANKS FOR LISTENING and making what looks to be a great new PSP! Looking forward to more.

  • Nerdgasm!!!

  • I dont have any of the PSP’s cuz i hated the thumbstick on it and it didnt look like I’d like it so I just never bought one. But this new one… it looks nice and sexy. I might actually think about getting this one if they have games coming out that I’d like to try. Keep up the good work Sony. Love you guys.

  • Great, my PSP UMD drive dies a week after I buy Kingdom Hearts BBS and now the NGP hasd made all my UMD games redundant!

  • OH, but it does look bloody fantastic!

  • Thing I don’t understand is why so many people complain about this not being backwards compatible with umds, I mean seriously couldn’t play my NES games on my SNES, and when this comes out who is going to want to play top down killzone when they can play new games that are actually made for the new system, the only game from a ps2 or ps1 were final fantasy and twisted metal, Meh I just don’t see why everyone thinks they deserve something more than what they are getting

  • what? no 3D Support?
i guess we’ll have to depend on the true innovators
Sony give up on creating hardware, and software for that matter
