I don’t mind system updates, as long as it doesn’t make me think my PS3 is broken and as long as I can download free movies from websites

IDK, i ran into a hacker at least every other game on mw2 before the hacks.
What i know is that the freakin people hacking and taking those codes, some of which have been posted even in this thread, should quit being a pain, and either get a life, or play the game for fun like EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD. If you have no life AND hack your game just cuz your not good enough, you are a complete failure.

I have a serious question for ps3 managers or workers… When the update offer is on screen it gives me the choice to do it thru internet or thru usb storage… Were can I get the update thru internet to do it manually? this way you guys will have less problems with us, and more happy users… Why don’t somebody think of this?

I have been all day working, then with my baby up and down, know Im at home, I finish everything, put baby at sleep, turn on my ps3 going to play BOP’s and [DELETED] an update in the middle of the night, and it wont work and it wont let me play :S Im so mAD ([DELETED]). And for those criticizing people like me, (that hate useless updates) at least I don’t have time to play like you all, and when I have it it is ruined by this updates constantly. Oh gosh! ps3 is [DELETED] lately…..
I understand that they’re trying to provide the best experience for all but so much is broken a.d needs to be improved such as the browser which is a mess. I want someone to answer why my android phone browser which has maybe half if even that power of the processor has a far superior experience even with flash 10.1? The OS doesn’t even have hardware acceleration yet and runs smoother than the xmb. I love Sony products especially my PS3 but this is getting old quick especially with this tired interface and lack luster features.
In short fix the damn browser, give the xmb an overhaul,
If your screen goes black like mine did or your system shuts off and is hard to turn back on hold down the power button after turning off the system at the back and turning back on keep holding the power button threw a series of beeps and then repeat it did get mine back and then go download the new hacked version install it usb downloads and installs usb stick in minutes and your on 3.56 faster than theses jack asses give it you over there oviously under bandwidth server they have and it will not cause your system to go bllack screen geesh the hackes have better servers than Sony go fiqure!

To be honest I had a hacked ps3 myself just for the hell of it. Barley updated it, it doesn’t ban you or anything if some people were wondering if you do have the hack. The thing i noticed was that i am unable to play my games on my emulators and there is no more “Install Packages” folder. Only game i had that i played was MegaMan Zero on my emulator lol xD So yeah nothing really big to those of you who haven’t hacked your ps3’s
I downloaded/installed the update just fine and did so in less than 10 minutes.

i think that the ps3 is an awesome machine that unfourtunately havent been given the adequate support that it deserves.for example we have a browser that loves to lock up from time to time.also, the cd/blu-ray player should use more support like mvk files and other popular and legal files.on the application department , you guys are doing pretty decent job with netflix support,vudu etc..thats one of the brightest spots of the machine!
however, there are other feautures that have been either forgotten or just simply ignored by you guys. for example cross game chat and universal custom soundtracks…
anyways,there are always going to be pirates. and i think besides patching. you guys should beef up the console with the feautures that the ps3 deserves and the community wants because in doing so should inhibit the homebrew or piracy factor.
in closing, there are like me. millions of honest users of the ps3 out there. please, dont make us suffer for the actions of a few.

for every update, i come here to see what the updates for [they should just tell us when we get it on the console] n i always hope for new features, like the 3D one. But this ones pretty good too.. hackers ruin the fun for a lot of people online, so security is just as important.
I would like to thank ps for costing me a championship in my league with a system update at around 7:50pm cental time zone when you have more players online and NOT in the morning hours. THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Lol… That sucks that we have this useless update… I’m glad I keep my ps3 on most the time… I don’t have to update since I don’t log off :) that sucks for everyone who keeps stalling though.
Just know Sony that no matter how good u think your security is people can hack it…
If the hackers would supply their own servers and enables features that were better than the ones Sony offers… I would pay 50 bucks a year to Play online

The update took me less than 5 mins to download and install.
4 hours after the update,and one hacker has hacked the PS3 once again, that’s pointless what you are doing Sony!

Hackers don’t own anyone in games. Cheating to give you god mode does not make you a good player. It makes you a loser. And no I have not been owned by a hacker.

Sony, how do you expect us to trust you if you don’t just say what’s in these updates. Don’t be vague about it. Who do you think you are, the government?
How about adding something meaningful? Or better yet, fixing the compatibility problems that you created in 3.50 and since?
Funny thing is, I did want to buy X-Men arcade for PS3 because it did support six players on a single console. But since you won’t even let me on the storefront for that or to get any demo’s without accepting yet another worthless update, I’m voting with my wallet, and buying it for the other system instead.

Seriously, where is the USB update method? I can’t even get past 1% on DSL from the PS3. And the only update on your site is for 3.55. You just had to kick me out of Netflix to make me update and then make it so I can’t update because you are too slow to place the file on the web for manual updating which is what I have to do each time you update. Seriously, if you think this will stop the hackers out there you are a fool. I promise that within a couple days this patch will be hacked and you will be back to square one. Why don’t you actually add the features the hackers are offering? I am sure if you asked the hacking community to help you implement the features your customers want to see, you’d have them within weeks and ready to deploy. Instead you haven’t added a single feature in nearly a year and have only managed to challenge hackers in a battle to see who can beat who. You will lose. Companies always lose in these types of battles. Get your s**t together and do something productive.

Yeah I don’t really get the desire for cross game chat. I mean what’s so special about it? If i’m playing Socom I sure as heck don’t want to be talking to someone who is playing another game as i’ll be focused on the game that I am playing.

The reason its only been security patches for awhile is because all Sony can think about is “Oh no my precious system has been hacked” The problem is we have all the keys and Sony can’t stop us now. So, if Sony is listening… GIVE UP! If you’re going to update your system make it something useful! It has been hacked and there’s nothing you can do about it. Look at the Xbox 360 or Wii for instance, once they were hacked it was over, no security patches can fix it. Do all of your loyal customers a big favor, no more security patches!

I’ve already manually disabled my PS3 from the internet out of fear that someone will tap into my console searching for credit card information. And since the PS3’s source code is cracked wide open I won’t take any chances. So even though this process might take a long time, meaning continuous firmware updates until this is thoroughly fixed, I will remain offline until this is resolved. If not then PSN is dead to me, and hope I the PS4 is better designed internally than the PS3.
