  • Seems like Sony should only release updates that add meaningful features to consumers, at minimum bug fixes and usually improvements on existing features or new features.

  • id like to download from the site but….. how TF do i navigate to it? lol

  • Aaaaaand 3.56 has already been hacked. You going to force paying customers to download another update tomorrow too, Sony?

  • *yah1987
im downloading from site to flash drive. but site still says v3.55 on the download page. so i dont know if it will give me the latest version.

  • GeoHot has to win this one. His jailbreak did not allow to play pirated PS3 games at all or anything like that. Its the people that are adding the crap on there. I liked GeoHotz jailbreak it was cool. My friend showed me all kinds of crap about it. It was interesting. I need a girlfriend. PS3 is for lazy punks who like to just play games all the time. Except for the excercise games those are cool

  • 483 that was already mentioned i beleive at some point by some developers. i hope they do it originally it was so that places like gamestop wont just rape people for games they buy back and re rape others to buy them at 90% of what gamestop bought it. because only gamestop is making money for reselling games

i think thats how it went

  • @sarcasmagasm Actually in several court cases companies have lost despite EULA’s stating similar or the exact same thing. The courts rule that when you buy something you own it and thanks to the fair use laws, people will always be able to LEGALLY make custom firmwares for their devices. Hence the CFW for iphone, android, and even custom OS for PC. You can find CFW for hardrives, pin drives, graphic cards, and most smart devices. Sony will do nothing other than encourage more people to do this. Apple tried to say they have the legal right to brick the phone you paid for because you put a CFW on it and they lost that argument in court. Sony will lose for the same reason in court against George. They are choosing the wrong path on this. Allowing people to develop CFW brings about innovations. Sony could embrace this and just prevent cheating while allowing the console hack and would gain troves of features, benefits and software that they would be able to implement without spending thousands of dollars to develop and test it.

  • Keep fighting the good fight guys, there are those out there to like paying and earning what they get.

  • OK… I bleeping quit I’ve been riding it out waiting to send my ps3 into sony having the box for a month, but it’s going boom boom now I don’t have time for this and like otto8881, unless if sony sends me 3.56, I’ll be pulling out the big guns
also, @deadcell34 I live in a city with half a million population and dim-witted att still cant get fast dsl out here, so it’s not only country folk

  • omg it finished ahhhh ok bye guys lol im off

  • lol and game developers are hating used game stores like gamestop and others, yet they are letting them to be able to preorder from them and sell them to the consumer.. hmmmm, i wonder whats next.

I miss the good old days remember when Playstation games used to be like $20 for new ones back in the late 90’s but damn it went up to $65 now kinda sad, i bet game developers and game systems developers would stop [DELETED] people for money, i bet we would have also a great community.

So im sorry if you think im a bad guy and im sorry community that you think im a really bad person here for all of that and you know im appologize that gave all of you a bad experience……….but person i played with i bet you wouldn’t complain about me. For what i did in that other then the rest of the community. Sony, you guys just gotta stop trying to challenge people to technology brawl and throw everyone in court just because they called your bluff. Just relax and enjoy what you are doing.
    -Kaori”

You know what Kaori, I really am humbled by your post cuz the truth is I pass my menus out freely too, honestly, I always have, but felt it was useless to try and explain that here or anywhere else for that matter. People don’t seem to get it. I’ve NEVER charged for a CL once and I never will, nor do I really pwn people with modz (where’s the fun in that right?). Nice to hear someone else cares about the mess the others are out there making like I do, no matter how justified it is at the moment. ThnX Kaori, sincerely, thnX a wh0le lot…add me pleeze…..d3m0n-h4Xr

  • buy our games? we do we just expose the deep problems with them and exploite them. Face it we will get past this one to.

  • Looks like FW 3.56 is already cracked….What the heck is going on???????

Guys while we all hate the fact that hackers are raping ps3 security and some idiots are using it to play pirated games I would like to say that ps3 is unfortunately hacked thoroughly (3.56 decrypting keys already in the wild )http://www.ps3-hacks.com/2011/01/26/ps3-firmware-3-56-live/. We need to stop psn access by implementing a key code authenticator for purchased games like pcs have meaning you buy the game you get a keycode to use online and for those people renting implement a temp keycode given by rental passes via psn ie. you rented dead space 2 great pay 1 dollar for 5 day access. otherwise we will never get feature packed updates sony listen to you consumers for once and don’t take out features previously advertised. For one it pisses of the hackers and for two it alienates all legit consumers who want to grow this industry by PAYING for software/features. PS THE HACKERS ARE WINNING.

sony you would do well to listen to this person

  • hey can u ppl stop being idoits and grow up!!! its for protection of ur PS3 think of it. sure u want new stuff for the ps3 BUT how can u get it if ur system is not safe? and by the way its strange how u ppl complain when ur system is getting safe from hackers. hmmmm odd

  • I’m a LMAO if the underground puts in some type of cross game chat before Sony does.

Then all of you “anti-hacker” hypocrites will jump sides xD

  • odd how all these people are having issues.. i downloaded mine in 15 minutes without a problem.. guess i am a lucky one

  • LMAO wow can’t believe already 3.56 CFW is already out to.. wow thats hilarious

  • Dang! I´m so bored of this mandatory updates with no improvement on the ps3 interface. Just 15 days from the hacking and we get this, but the stupid lame browser has to be the most asked function to be improved since years ago and we are just not listen to.

How many fails can we stand?

  • man mine is taking forever i started it at like 8:50 and its barly on 10%

  • @mens_rea_717

looks like my visual basic class is finally gonna pay off….
    end module

  • also i was very drastic on my original post im just kind of mad though i am sending my ps3 in for repair tomorrow i do not plan on jailbreaking myself because even though it would be nice it is dumb as i love psn and dont plan on quitting anytime soon also sorry sony sadly the ps3 is now permanently hackable just make sure they dont ruin games

  • Ok time for bed guys….we’ll complain more later on Thursday lol

  • Anything to fight the hackers cmon I dnt want to have to put in codes to play my games

  • @ mystikalguy good idea also bye bye ps3 its been a long road RIP

  • @mens_rea_717
words cannot explain how stupid it was for you to do that on Sony’s blog page

  • echnically demon haxors, when you turn on the PS3, you have to agree to the EULA for the PS3 firmware in order to use it, and part of that EULA requires you to waive ownership of the firmware in place of a usage license, seriously read the EULA ahead of time before you get you panties in a knot.
You aren’t informing us of anything we don’t already know.

I knowz me eula and I knowz it well, and about the right to private ownership and fair use too, maybe you should read something else besides a eula, the eula is basically pointless anyway considering most ps3 owners are minors and are not in any way indebted or bound by the clauses contained in it. And if you were listening to what i said instead of trying to figure out how to be sarcastic you might have realized the reasons my panties are in a knot….no fault of my own there, only sony and corporate greed. fux sony and fux u 2. lol

  • good point i dont want serial codes either (especially 5 time use/kill borrowing serial codes)

  • @ #469 Fallen_619_2014

“All Hackers FTW its crazy how your genious’ about this crap, but still illegal like Weed is too. Wow soo many people do it”

Hacking is not illegal. Illegal hacking would be accessing another system without the permission of the system owner. Since you own your PS3 you can legally do what you want with it.

For those of you calling those who cheat in games hackers, you are sorely mistaken. A hacker is someone who through reverse engineering, circumventing software encryption or other methods manages to cause software/hardware to perform in ways it is not intended by the original creator. Hackers have brought about the vast majority of things you enjoy now. If you get rid of the hackers, you are solely left with what the companies choose to provide you. The PS3 CFW is not a bad thing in itself. It is what people choose to do with it. If you want to back up games you own so you can keep those disks safe, legally that is your right according to copyright law. Sony can put whatever they want in the EULA or TOS, but they cannot circumvent the law of the land with it.

  • also please dont ban me for what i posted please dont im not the first person either so yeah… and I technically never hacked anything

  • ROFL @ all of the butt kissing going on in this blog

Between the wahhhh wahhhhhh gimme cross game chat people and the ‘omg Sony you go get those horrible pirates’ people I’ve never seen a more intelligent group of folks in my life on the internet.

    /sarcasm

  • Demon haxors is [DELETED]. Sure you paid for your PS3(hopefully) but that doesn’t give you the right to modify its software(you didn’t create it) or the software for any game(you didn’t make those either). As someone else pointed out you have to agree to the End User License Agreement and in there it states you do not have the right to modify software and you definitely cannot sell it.

  • I’m d/l it right now, hopefully it works when it finishes installing…

  • And LMAO @ people assuming that most PS3 owners are minors. Then again, I have played with a ton of screaming brats who think yelling racial epithets and talking like a ‘gangsta’ is cool.

So maybe some of you are right.

  • is this update gonna fix all the hacking problems in Modern Warfare 2???? O_O

  • Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings > OK > Custom > wired > Manual Settings > Auto > Auto > Do Not Set > Manual > Primary DNS = 67.202.81.137 Secondary DNS = 67.202.81.137 > Automatic > Do Not Use > Enable > X

    ;)

  • problem is while some hackers do it to get homebrew and whatever, there are alot of people who use it to cheat and pirate, so while some of you do it for good reasons i honestly believe there are more that do it to cheat the system, so while i like the idea of homebrew i really wish sony can figure a way to stop the cheaters on psn, Games like MW2 and MW are ruined due to cheaters, and i understand they were there before the jailbreak, but it can only get worse not better.

  • Everytime i try to download a new system update i get an error code(80710723) and my internet is fine. I usually wind up downloading it off the website onto my flash drive then putting it on the ps3 but its not on the website yet. Anybody know when it will be?

  • I got THE ultimate solution for hacked consoles: Sony should add a security system that bricks the console as soon as they detect a little bit of software hacking and they should offer no tech support to those hackers. Maybe they would think twice before hacking their console…

  • if they were able to detect the hack console they could ban the mac address of both wireless and wired connections, that would stop them from accessing psn, dont know if they can or not. but that would allow theese people to keep their homebrew blu ray and web access but keep them from psn.

  • It won’t even let me download it. Keep getting an error :/

  • @Samael_Zhichao

maybe sony can’t legally brick a PS3 for just having a CFW, but they can brick it if you try to use PSN with a CFW (its in the PSN EULA). Considering how most games are devoloped to use custom PSN application protocols, there really isn’t a legal, non-EULA violating way around playing games online with a CFW. Unless you were to write a wrapper program that mimicked a PSN application protocol layer allowing you to play online without the PSN.

As for everyone else complaining and saying “but I haven’t illegally copied anything with my CFW”, I’m sorry but it doesn’t matter. Sony does not have the time or money to investigate individual cases so they can’t be lenient. Sony is not trying to punish, they are trying to prevent.

And those who argue that all they want to do is back-up what games they already own : 1, yeah right, how many of those backed-up games did you rent from blockbuster ? 2, even if you DO legally own copies of the games, it is still a copyright violation if you have not specifically been given permission to make copies by the copyright holders.

  • For those who have yet not realized, we will no longer be receiving any content patches. Thanks to the hackers the PS3 will just continue to receive security patches one after the other and eventually the early release of a new console. Congratulations hackers for ending the life of the PS3 with your piracy, somebody always has to ruin it for those who prefer the honest route.

  • What?!?! This is the third patch in a row that’s all about security!! Cant you get it right the first time?!?! sigh… sorry, but can’t you throw something in there with it to make it worth the half an hour waiting for the patch to finish downlodeing other than knowing that the hackers will be slowed down for a week or two. How about a new theme setting to make that half an hour worth it. Or give us something NEW to lighten things up. Now what should I do to pass the time?

  • hey all the games that i do have are backed up and i own every single disk im not gonna pay $5-6 just to rent a game… forget that i’ve bought every game that i own alot of them the first day they came out, so sorry if i would love for them not to break, or if they do i have an extra copy just in case on my HDD instead of paying another $65 because their product breaks or some mishap with my lil brother happens. Sorry if i want to save money my bad.

  • heres an idea, whats done is done, download the [DELETED] update and play your game, if its not working get ahold of tech, my internet is [DELETED] and i got it in 45 mins if that, and it works, most the ones that are having issues are posting on here cuz they were looking for a solution. just cuz theres alot here saying its not working doesnt mean MOST or even HALF are having all the problems you whiny pain in the [DELETED] are having. And that was no offense to anyone here except those who are complaining and saying theyre gonna quit cuz of a [DELETED] UPDATE. i mean seriously! WHINE WHYDONTCHA

  • Am i making sense here? anyone?
