To all of you who have been participating in our DC Universe Online PS3 Beta, we’d like to welcome you and thank you! We’ve been listening closely to your feedback and we’ve heard a few of you are running into some technical issues. We want you to know your feedback is valuable and we are implementing fixes as quickly as possible. In the next patch many issues will be resolved.
Some of the specific issues that we are fixing include numerous changes to improve the user interface, in particular text readability. In addition, we want to make it easier for you to play with your friends! What is an online game without playing with friends? :)
Social enhancements will make it easier to communicate, play and group with others. Improvements to chat input, frequently used phrases menu, and the ability to use emotes will further convey your personality and mood to the world. There are also several adjustments in process that will improve instruction and hint messages within the UI. Plus, we are adding a way for you to quickly access combo sequences, super power information, and buff/debuff information for your character.
Finally, stability of the game has been greatly improved in the latest version. So, as you can tell there is a lot going on and more to come. Please, keep giving us your feedback and insights, and get ready for a great game play experience – thanks to your feedback!

yeah the game freezes too often… when i was having an epic battle of awesomeness raping these heroes, it froze. i was undergoing a battle the eff!
anyways no complaints other than the freezing. love the game. and all the people who are crying because they dont want to pre order or buy psn +, i have 1 thing for you… “WAAAAAAHHH”
@ Mike. I second that (everything you said). Game is great, barring the occasional freeze. And it’s a smart move giving the beta to PS+ subscribers as they’re more likely to pay for a subscription (like they did with PS+). The scrubs and cheapoos and those new to MMOs generally have no idea that the best MMOs are generally pay to play. It’s been that way since EQ. Free to Play games generally cost as much in the end, if not more, as the micro-transactions can add up real fast. Guild Wars is it’s own animal and I haven’t seen another MMO like it.
I’ll say it again, let’s get Guild Wars 2 on the PS3 next :)

Seriously as a suggestion its to make the whole downloading from PSN store so it can be put in download background so we can do other things with ps3 while we are downloading this, at least the base files.
I know its a mmo and it gets a lot of updates but the way its currently managing the updates and downloads its not very efficient.

Had a good hour on the beta and really enjoyed it.
Only issue I had was that the text was to small to read and that the flying is a little slow, but overall, I really enjoyed it. Will be playing some more when the servers are back up (hopefully soon!)
Quick question about the full game though, I know it will have a monthly subscription, but will it be free to play for PlayStation+ members or will they get some sort of discount? as £40 per year and £10 per month is a little steep for most casual gamers.
To add to my previous comment, I would happily pay for PS+ and pay a knock down price (say £5 per month) to play DCUO as I honestly think its worth it.
The graphics are great, the gameplay works well, the customisation is excellent and it has that feel good factor about it.
One quick note though, is that you should be able to edit your gear in game (access to the customisation menu when you first start) from the start menu as I haven’t got a clue where the NPC is to change it (if there even is one!)
game is saying server is down?
it is 12:39 am the 18th in new york and i keep tryin to sign on the beta and it loads to my superhero page but wont let me choose one… when i tried to delete a super hero it said “cant do this when server is down”
yeah this game is very nice i seem to be glitching and freezing more frequently the farther i progress through the game. last time i played for 10-15 minutes before freezing then logged back in only to glitch 3-5 minutes later. but that’s betas i guess lol. also i would like to see more detail in character creation. maybe where you can customize your body like they do with color(have a tiny body with a big head or something haha)

I like the game this is a first day buy for me … before the beta it was really low on my radar … I know we have some issue hey its a beta but I can tell i can really get into this.
couldnt figure out why I couldnt play. Didnt realize that slow moving bar at the bottom represented how much I have downloaded. WOW, that is a huge turn off.
wish it wasnt pay to play, i jus cant afford to put that kind of money in a game…60 bucks then monthly fees. if the fee was a little cheaper and maybe if i had more time to play the game id buy it, cause it looks like its gonna be in the running for game of the year.
I have been downloading since 9pm eastern time. Got booted from download twice. It is now 11:43am eastern time and I’m still half way. Ugh… If it wasn’t that I am a DC fan I would quit. I got the plus just for this game ( and lets be honest I’m not the only one that did lol) but the download is a bummer :( I give it ten more hours lmao

Been Downloading for 9 Hours and only 1/3 there and for some reason my screen does not show me the text under the bar just the top quarter, does anyone know how long it is supposed to take?
just downloaded the beta. its not a bad mmo, i like the feel of the beatemup genre alot more than the rpg feel so this game is looking up for me. great gameplay however my screen freezes every now and then, might be the game or maybe its just the amount of users on the server, but other than that, great stuff.
okay it is now 4:51pm eastern time and I am still downloading wth…. My SKS family tell me the the game is great but when am I going to actually get to play it oh and btw rumors are you guys are actually going to stop the servers in 30 minutes while I am still downloading (go figure lmao) not my luck… anyways My family said the game is great but to much lagg, everyone keeps getting booted of server and for some reason it says we could chat but they really can’t. I really don’t care lmao I just want to play. So its been 20 something hrs of download… hmmmm should I quit now???

i downloaded it but it says i need to download the key something i dont know it says try again in so and so minutes so 1 hour later it still says it

I love the the game so far, but it has no crafting and I can’t see a long future without crafting and at $15 per month price tag for this game. Another thing is the horrible freezing problems, which caused my PS3 to be destroyed. That’s the one major thing Sony needs to work on is some kind of failsafe or protection to prevent hard shut downs when a game freezes because it WILL kill your PS3.

After a 27 hour update time,I was excited to play,But after the 4th console lockup at the tutorial(Both Beta Servers),I have lost pretty much all interest.
I really hope the this gets fixed as i really want to play this game.
I am in Australia btw,and I hope we get a server closer to home.
Otherwise it seems like fun.
downloading the update now…. hope they fixed all or most bugs im level 20 now hope it lets me go up some more…. also for some reason it wont let me do the green latern mission the bad guy doesnt die! wth
After downloading the update, I now am having trouble getting in the game. It lets me pick my hero, shows loading screens, and then says I need to sign into a network or my PS account. Are the servers just down, and is there a place to check that? I do like the new loading screens by the way.
I’m still at 15% after 7 hours of waiting and I’m afraid to leave my ps3 on so you guys need to fix the wait time for this or at least have different screens pop up because seeing Batman, Lex, Supes, and Wonder Woman gets quite old.
When will we get a real release date for DC Universe? All I have found so far is first quarter 2011.
I have been enjoying the game so far, the install took one night about 6-7 hours in total. Then the updates took roughly an hour for the first one and then 5 hours for the second one… My only real complaint is that I have spent more time downloading the game and it’s updates then I have spent playing the actually game due to an inability to connect about 80% of the time. The only other thing aside from a fix for that issue would be to have power schemes resembling the Lantern Corps and Shazam! as a big fan of both comic series. I think the DC franchises are pretty well distributed otherwise.
When are these servers going back up?
Game is cool. PS Plus subscribers better get a discount, only makes sense, and I heard a rumor they would. I would get PS Plus again just to get MMO discounts, ff14 and DCU.
i have the hardest time trying to load some places
especially the metropolis metrodome HIVE it has a 90% “fail to load” rate with me :( so i cant finish the mission
Even after the new patch my console still freezes so I can never get out of the ship at the very beginning.
Unless there are drastic improvements,I’ll be getting the game about 6 months after release,hopefully then it may be ready.
6 hours and im 90% done with the first download, i dont know what is up but im not gonna wait 7 hours for a beta game, $15 a month isnt that bad, i heard their was a $60 dollor start up fee? a little high, only dished out that much money on Call of Duty Black ops i dont know if im going to on this, especially since i havent even got to play.

I’ve downloaded this game twice now… Thinking the first awful experience was faulty files… I don’t think so, I get not even 1 minute into the game and it freezes giving me no choice but to restart the ps3 everytime. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS!?
coming from the view of a web project manager, the text is infinitely too small. especially for those with standard def 4:3 tvs (like me until tomorrow.. thank you family). other than that, there absolutely NEEDS to be a way to get back to the game after a server disconnect other than restarting the game. like a button on that alert page that goes back to the screen that checks game assets and reloads, cause restarting is REALLY starting to piss me off. esp when only 1 server is down, you play your other character and then try the first server only to find out you have to restart the game and waste another 5 minutes. and for a lot of mmo players, WoW specifically, another 14.99 a month is steep considering your target audience. i honestly hope something urges you AND Blizzard to knock 3 or even 2 dollars off the monthly charge so we’re able to keep playing both games.
other than that, this is the sickest most awesome game ive played in a long time, and im pretty much addicted after a day. good job. haha. just dont take all the compliments as a signal to slack in delivering the best game you can to the people.
This game is AWESOME! Having a ton of fun! The only setback I am having is the game freezing. I have my preorder for the collectors edition, can’t wait! I just hope they get the freezing issue taken care of by release. I downloaded the current patch and it still is freezing. I am also hoping they have a discount for PS+ subscribers.
At the way beginning of the game I can’t move my character around anywhere. For some strange reason none of the buttons work on my controller, except for the playstation button in the middle that lets me get back to the main menu of my ps3 screen. I just don’t get it. Does anybody know the reason behind this?
I am new to the beta and i must say that this beta is pretty good so far and am liking it. I love that it has voice chat which makes it more easier to find our friends in the beta in a huge metropolis and Gotham city and it’s more interesting and fun to play. I love flying in the city with one of my friends and am already feeling addicted to the game. The problems that i hate about this beta so far are” The beta took insanely too long to download, waiting in line to play, the text size are too small and frustrating to read, and it frozed my ps3. I hope players could have the option to pay the monthly fee with their psn cards or atleast give playstation plus subscribers a discount for the monthly fee. Also i hope players could get 1 month free when the full game launches since the game will probably cost $60 dollars anyway. It’s a very cool beta. Good Job !
Ok, never mind, I fixed my controlling problem. But those behind the dcuo game better fix the freezing problem for the ps3 and the monthly fee better be at a reasonable transaction!
I downloaded this game as soon as it was released on PSN+. It is now December 31st and I still haven’t played it because the game will not load in a reasonable amount of time and each time I quit, it starts over next time. So today I decided to leave the console on while we went out. It is now on hour 5 of whatever it is doing and only at 30%. I was really excited about this game and am a huge comic nerd. But now I have lost all interest. This is a massive problem. Nobody is going to want to buy a game that is going to take 20+ hours to install or load or whatever. Seriously, is this a PSN download speed issue? Am I just downloading the game NOW and if so, what did I download before that took just as unreasonably long to get? THe way I see it, no amount of in game glitches can compare to a crippling long wait just to get into the game itself.
I sent my preorder receipt too but never got my PS3 beta key. What’s up with that? Please send me my beta key already.
I downloaded the game. After waiting 37 minutes it starts to do another download which took about the same amount of time. Then when it finishes it gives me an option to start the game but then says unable to start game. I’ve been waiting for this for sometime and now all of a sudden I can’t play it? I deleted the game content from my PS3 and am going through the process all over again to see what happens. This is a very big inconvinience as other people stated if I wasn’t such a big fan and waiting for this I would just quit any advice?
