Hi Everyone! Back in 2008, we unveiled the official Bluetooth Headset for the PlayStation 3. Since then, many of you added it to your arsenal of PS3 must-haves. Today we’re excited to announce a new version of the official Bluetooth Headset for the PS3 system. It will be available at retailers near you this month at the same price ($49.99 MSRP) as the earlier version of this headset.
The new Bluetooth Headset for the PS3 offers the same unparalleled gaming experience as the previous model, making it a must have for intense online multiplayer games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, MAG or the highly anticipated sci-fi shooter, Killzone 3. It offers a dual-microphone design, automatic pairing via USB cable with the PS3**, in-game headset status indicator**, an easily accessible microphone mute button, and a charging cradle which also functions as a desktop microphone**. On top of all of that, it’s the only device to offer High-Quality (HQ) mode** which delivers crystal clear voice chat while gaming on the PS3.
So what’s different, you ask? New features include a redesign, making it sleeker, high-gloss and more compact – 30% smaller than the original model. In addition, the Bluetooth Headset now has built-in noise cancellation for filtering out ambient noise when used with the PS3 system as well as your mobile phone. Gadget fiends take note – the new Bluetooth Headset isn’t just for gaming. The improved mobile phone feature support allows you to use features such as three-way calling and call waiting. And with nearly six hours of talk time, you can easily take the Bluetooth Headset with you straight from the living room to the streets.
The new Bluetooth Headset is compatible with devices with Bluetooth 1.1 or higher, and is ideal for gamers, technophiles and anyone in the market for multi-use Bluetooth Headset. Enjoy!
** This feature requires a PS3 system and PS3 system software version 3.50 or later.
Hope it doesn’t hurt my ear like the other one.
Bundle this with a console so more people have headsets on the PSN!
No party chat, no need for a headset on PS3.
Does it still beep when on mute?
DO WANT!!
I can’t wait to buy the new version headset. Good job Sony on the re-design. The old version was uncomfortable.
How does the in game indicator work? anyone know from the first version ones?
I see Im not the only one who realized the previous mic was a totally unusable dog of a device. I’d have to hear this one in use lots before I’d even consider it. the last one was so quiet & heavily distorted it was actually an annoyance. That combined with jerks playing music on it in games & kids screaming racist vulgarities at everyone I keep everyone muted in game anyways.
FINALLY, the first one was a piece of crap. hope this one is more comfortable to wear
i actually like the first official headset. i also have a couple i had for cell phones and a usb ps2 socom headset with the mute button. i might upgrade if it came in a bundle.
Dealextreme sold one pretty cool for only $13.70!!! http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.47603
That is one sexy headset.
I might pick this one up. I’m using my Sony Ericsson clip-on headset right now, and it’s a good mic for chat, but it picks up almost every sound in the room. I’ve had people online chatting to my cat because his meows were being picked up so easily by the mic.
I’m hoping this mic’s noise cancellation includes meow cancellation.
Also, I hope the earpiece is a little gentler on the ears. The main reason I have my SE headset is because you can change the headphones to more comfortable ones
looking foward to this quick question, i notice the light is blue, can you clarify what is the other color like you did when the other ps headset cameout plz and thanks
Sweeeeet! Looks good!
One thing I would love to see is simultaneous dual-pairing functionality, similar to the Turtle Beach Ear Force PBT. Now, THAT would be perfect! Firmware update perhaps? I know you guys can make it happen… :D
is it still gonna overcharge and die within a week like my first two ps3 bluetooth headsets!!!! the model i have now does not overcharge and cost less!!!!!!!!!!!
But is it more comfortable? The current one feels like a doctors utensil
Tempting…I do hate the headset that came with Warhawk.
Bundle this with consoles at least have a standard on PSN.
Anand, Dan and I had fun testing the original headset for you over a year ago, but this is the headset that we wanted that whole time! I told you I liked the comfort and smaller design of the Plantronics headset you supplied for feature testing. And I told you what everyone on the SOCOM team thought of the original design.
So thank you for taking over a year to listen to your colleagues. I’ll be looking forward to checking this one out.
Thanks!
