kspraydad is right its not crtc’s fault as not only itunes but zune has operated in canada for sumtime including that certain other game machine has had it a while now. BTW, Grace, it still needs sum work, theres been troubles of “movie not found error” and not being able to get in the store at all for a number of people. it hit me with that earlier. There shouldnt really be that kind of errors popping up since the video side of the store has been running in the USA for some time now.

Thanks for the video store! Pricing is quite reasonable, and the selection is quite decent at launch. I imagine that the content will continue to differ between the CAN and US stores. This will be a good service for rentals.
Hopefully something will be done to improve the terms of purchase for customers, something more akin to how the games side of the store operates. The potential of losing purchases because of the 1 download restriction is enough to dissuade me from purchases. The option of backing up content to external HDD is appreciated, but in the event my PS3 decides to crap out completely, I won’t be able to access my purchased content on a PS3.
Just one question. Is the video content exactly the same for Canadian video store as it is for U.S. store? TV show selection seems to quite small.

To celebrate I bought an episode of Roco’s Modern Life. =)
But I’m really disappointed that my purchases are not added to my psn store history. So if my PS3 dies I loose my episode and for that I probably will not be buying anything else on the video store.

I must say, this is easily one of the best but worst announcements ever made by Sony.
We are past the point of redemption. At this point, this shouldn’t be celebrated, but more or less a given. Its like making a console without wifi…and then adding it in later in a redesign, and pretend like you’ve done something grand, when it should have been that way from day 1, and everyone else BUT you know it.*wink*.
I have past the “I need the video store”. I will not be supporting this store as it serves as an example of what not to do. I do not want to support Sony in things that they completely mucked up from the get go. This has been too long coming, and theres no incentive to start giving a crap now that most of us have moved on to other digital formats and services for movies.
And Charlie’s Angels? Really? I didn’t realize the Ps3 fanbase were a bunch of 14 year old girls. *facepalm*. I fully blame Grace Chen for this massive gaffe. Sony, fire her.
Well it’s a momentous day alright, and yeah it could been a better choice for a free movie but then again it could of been a lot worse, like Kazaam? All n all, we’ve got the service and its pretty cool of Sony to offer us a peace offering like a free movie. HAPPY CANADA DAY EH!

#180, you complaining for nothing. For this first day for the Canada, the videostore have a better selection of what the Xbox offers and the iTune movie service. Plus, Its the only service of the 3 who also offer movies in french for the french canadians as well.
Yes they took way to long for this, but the results is way better than I expected. I didn’t saw the free movie thing coming so even if its not my kind of movie, how can I complain for something free ?

I live in Toronto. But i cant seem to access the playstation videostore. theres no tab when ever i go to the playstation store in my ps3. when i click on the ad for the videostore i get in but when i click on any movie is says ‘This content cannot be accessed on your account’

Thoroughly underwhelmed I’d have to say. After downloading an “HD” version of “Green Zone” for $6.75 – I got 2-Channel audio and 1280 x 720 res. First of all, how is that ‘HD’ and second of all, what about these fantastic BLU-RAY downloads??
VERY DISSAPPOINTING. Think I’ll pay a bit more, drive to Blockbuster and enjoy the bonus features on the discs IN HIGH-DEF… What are the downloadable SD versions in then? 640×480? LOL
