Allow us to get your week on track, PlayStation.Blog readers. SOUNDtrack, that is. SIGNED soundtrack, even. That’s right, we’ve got 10 soundtracks graced by the pen/magic marker/writing instrument of one Shoji Meguro, master composer of games like Persona 3 and Persona 4, and we’re giving them away. Here. Just to you folks.
“How do I enter?” you inquire, leaning forward in excitement. Easy! Just tell us what you’re most excited about regarding the upcoming P3P as a comment under this post. Maybe it’s the fact that you can take one of the highest rated RPGs of all time on the road now? Or the cast of memorable characters you just can’t get enough of? Or the dating sim elements? The fantastic music? The great art? The addicting gameplay? The original story?
10 lucky winners will be randomly (or as close to randomly as possible) chosen and sent a SIGNED soundtrack CD. Only North American residents are eligible to win, however. It’s not that we don’t love you rest-of-the-world’ers; we just want to focus this giveaway on the region in which the game is actually releasing.
Why are we doing this? Well, we’d love to use this opportunity to remind you that:
- a) Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable, Atlus’s upcoming handheld RPG epic, is right around the corner, releasing in stores and via PlayStation Network on July 6th.
- b) It features one of the best soundtracks ever, and in order to further emphasize that point, we want to give a few of those soundtracks away. SIGNED.
In case you all are a bit unfamiliar with the P3P soundtrack, perhaps we should share a sample with you:

“The music seems awesome,” you say, pensively prodding your chin with your finger, “but I’m not guaranteed to win it. I just wish there was some cool bonus with Persona 3 Portable that I was guaranteed to receive.”
Funny you’d say that, because there’s still time to pre-order your copy of Persona 3 Portable at a participating retailer (GameStop and Amazon in the United States and Canada) and receive a collectible Junpei Baseball Cap. It’s modeled after the one he wears in the game!
“Wow, they’re sure giving us a lot of physical awesome to celebrate the release of the game, but what about the game itself?” you muse aloud to no one in particular, gently tapping your pointer fingers together in front of your mouth.
We’ve already told you in previous posts about how Persona 3 Portable puts you in the shoes of a team of gifted high schoolers forced to use their developing supernatural abilities to save the world from destruction, and how the game cleverly mixes addicting RPG dungeon crawling with social sim elements. And how the PSP system release introduces a new female protagonist who experiences the events of the game from a new perspective, not to mention the addition of one-button menu shortcuts, a streamlined user interface, and more.
We’d say more about the game, but really, why not let others speak for us? Early reviews are in, Blog readers, and they’re glowing:

I have never gotten the chance to play it on the days of the ps2 because of work and school. Now here is my chance to play it and hopefully Atlus makes a P4P.
Prolly one of the best potentials as a portable game. Also, being a chick.
I’m excited to play this for the first time! I’ve heard a lot about it, and I’m really excited.
I’m completely and utterly over the moon about being able to take my favorite RPG (and not to mention the auditory goodness of Shoji Meguro) to work with me to show everyone what I’ve been ranting and raving and pointing at my PSP about for the past year. It will be a great mood-picker-upper on those days where the army of twelve puppies, complete with lvl 71 fleas and worms come marching in and the rest of my party plays the ‘Not It’ card.
I’m very excited about playing as a female protagonist. To be able to play P3P with different social links and different interactions as a female is great for me. Also, I’m excited about the battle system changes. I loved Persona 4 battle system and can’t wait to use it in P3P.
Ever since I played the FES version of Persona 3, it quickly became one of my favorite RPG’s of all time. With the release of P3P, I eagerly await to see what additions the new female main character brings to the story and also what new strategies the new personas bring. Having also finished The Answer, I also cant wait to try the Hall of Doors.
I’m looking forward to finally getting a chance to play this landmark game. I didn’t have a Playstation 2 when it first released, having foolishly sold it in anticipation of the next generation of consoles. For several years, not being able to play Persona 3 has been one of my bitterest (videogame related) regrets. Finally, I’ll be able to play The One That Got Away…
Of course, I’m also looking forward to the awesome soundtrack that is practically a guarantee when it comes to Shoji Meguro’s work.
After P3P, the next thing on my bucket list will be… P4P? (Finger’s crossed!)
I’m so excited for this game. I’ve always wished the protagonist was female, can’t wait to see how the plot line diverges between the male and female paths. I thoroughly enjoyed Persona 3 and 4 (yay for new game+!), so I’m looking forward to P3P! Art style and music were amazing in P3 and P4, so bring on the new tracks!
I’m looking forward to the new social links and trying out a PSP (I’m buying the Peace Walker PSP bundle just for this, and, well, Metal Gear Peace Walker).
I’m most exicted about PS because all of the cast is going to be now on the PSP and the gameplay is going to be awesome. I will be playing this all summer!
I haven’t had a chance to play Persona 3 yet. But wow . . . a P3P soundtrack signed by Shouji Meguro himself!
Wonder what it’d be like to get Theodore. :P
I’m excited about portablity and the female protagonist
There’s everything to be excited about in this port to the PSP. Persona 3 is an excellent game, and the fact that there are even more features being added to this version makes it all the more desirable. I can’t wait to play from the female perspective!
The best part? I finally get to OWN this game. :D
Im excited for some Persona on the go! Why only play the game at home when I could take it anywhere?
What am I most excited about you ask? Well let me tell you <3 Maybe it's the fact that I beat fes less than a week ago and my heart is still trembling or possibly that I get to unlock even more costumes or maybe it's the fact that I really want that hat even though Junpei never reached level 30 in my game O.O
No, it has the be the female perspective. Being a female I desperately wanted to form bonds with my Akihito (le gasp, Liam O'Brien *fangirl squeal*) and my Ryoji~ Though I still assume I won't get love from Ryoji </3 At least I will see him once again so I can stalk him in many fangirl ways.~ And Theo is kinda pretty to look at~ If only I could date/have a tender moment with Minato Arisato we'd be in business. xD
Anyway I still have Persona 2 and 4 to beat~ <3 Fare thee well Atlus <3 (Pick me Randomly) ;)
I’ve had it pre-ordered for awhile now, and I’m really excited to get the free hat with my game. I’m most looking forward to the new team controls as well as the remixed music.
I’m most excited about the improvements to the gameplay from P4 being incorporated into P3P. As I was playing through P4 last year I found myself wishing some of the streamlined mechanics from it had been in P3. Well now it looks like I’ll get my wish. I eagerly await July 6th. Thanks Atlus!
I own both the limited edition release of Persona 3, Persona 3 FES, and come next week, Persona 3 Portable. What I’m looking the most forward to is the enhanced social links. If they are anything like Persona 4, these new social links will allow further insight into the characters, making them even more lovable than they were to me before.
I am excited to not only play on the go, but to also play as a girl this time around! I am also VERY excited to see the new gameplay mechanics from Persona 4 implemented into Persona 3 Portable.
I’m new to the series, but am very hyped about this game.
I just bought a PSP for this game.
Of course I already pre-ordered the game.
The hat will be a very good welcoming gift for my new PSP.
Even better will be the signed soundtrack!
I would love to experience this game on the go. Never got to finish the ps2 version.
There’s nothing like an epic RPG like Persona in general, but making it portable is another thing altogether. I also hope this is a precursor to maybe a new Persona on PS3? Only time will tell …
I get to play as a girl AND play it anywhere I want! Who needs to study between classes when I have persona on the go :D
atlus? SMT? Persona? what else do you need to say? PORTABLE??!!
Done, sold, partner! female protagonist? DOUBLE SOLD!
atlus様、
質問があるんですが。。。
日本語で書けば、なかなか勝つわけですか。
どうもありがとうございます。
マイケル
ところで、
友達が作りたいけど。。。かっこよさが足りひんもんだから。。
and I cant wait to live in Japan again via persona in my pocket, yeah.
I’m looking forward to the new soundtrack, environments, and wide variety of content suchs as items and gear!
I’m excited simply because it’s portable. I loved Persona 3 on the PS2 and I’m glad I can get it in bite-sized chunks soon.
Persona on the PS3 por favor 8)
I’m most excited about replaying the whole game as a female! I want to see what relationships I am able to develop with social links =)
I’m excited about playing through as a female. Very interested in how it will change things, and I’m glad it’s got a nice new feature in there to make it worth buying for those of us who have already beaten it.
Now I’m just wondering if we’ll ever get a remake of the Persona 2 games…
What am I looking forward to, you ask? I’m looking forward to the new social links, and the ability to play the game through a female players eyes a lot, as well as the new tracks added in (specifically Sun, love that song) but most of all, I’m looking forward to taking this game with me wherever I go.
None of my favorite games are portable sadly, so seeing Persona 3 make it over to the PSP is an awesome thing.
I’m really looking forward to the Hall of Doors–a new set of challenges is always welcome. The updated battle system a la P4 doesn’t hurt either…and yes, as so many are saying: neither does the hat!
Persona on the go oh yeah:)
I look forward to this being my first experience with the Persona series after hearing about how awesome 3 and 4 were during my years at a university. Also getting the cap to cover the increasingly noticeable bald spot would be nice… *hint hint*
I don’t know why but my comment from this afternoon (3:26 EST) hasn’t been posted yet. “Still awaiting moderation.” Oh well, this is what I said:
I really love the Persona games because they really go back to the tried and true JRPG formula. They really seem to be getting a lot of flak lately because they’re too “linear” and “too boring.” What do I say to those people? Then don’t get them! It’s like arguing with a Madden fan why Madden sucks. You aren’t going to convince them otherwise, so why all the hate? I got Persona 3 FES on PS2 and even got Persona 4 and got the special book (I had a picture here, that may have been why it was flagged). The SMT games are NOT for a casual audience. They’re for the group of people that enjoys difficult games and love Japanese culture. In a lot of ways, it’s more Sim than RPG, but anyone who is reading this already knows that ^_^.
And that’s why I want the soundtrack.
I loved playing Persona 3 on the PS2, and I’m excited to be able to take it on the go and meet up with the guys and gals of SEES once again. Also, the ability to play as a female protagonist is intriguing! Almost here!
I am new to the series, but am hyped about this game.
I recently bought a PSP just for this!
The hat will be a nice welcoming gift, but the signed soundtrack will be even better!
I am super excited for the release of PS3 for a couple of reason, many of which are shared with everyone else. This version allows you to not only once again play, in my opinion, one of the greatest RPG titles of all time, but it lets you play it as a female as well, which adds a whole other side to an already amazing game. I want to see for myself all the new stuff they’ve added in the game, the different battle system, added dialog, and even how you simply move around. A lot of people I’ve spoken to have said that the new movement is basically point and click, and that this will likely take away from the game, but I don’t think so. It will be interesting to see how these changes come together to make this game stand out on its own.
I’m excited because it’s Persona 3… but portable, ’nuff said.
I’m looking forward to being able to bring one of the greatest RPG experiences I’ve ever had with me where ever I go. I’m also very excited to have the option between the male and female protagonist, and I look forward to seeing what changes in the story and the social links will be made for the female protagonist. And getting to control your party members Persona 4 style? AWESOME!
Why am I looking forward to it? Besides the fact I have already purchased the original and FES for the PS2? Because it’s insanely awesome… and maybe just maybe you’ll give the same treatment to both parts of Persona 2…?
I admit, I did think it was pointless to get P3P, since I already have P3 and P3Fes. But then I realized, I needed a good JRPG on the go. I’d love to get my hands on the soundtrack too. Just listening to it gives me the urge to play some more Persona.
Also can’t wait to get my hands on my Junpei cap. ;D That’s definitely one of the other reasons I decided to go for it. I’m a total sucker for things like that.
I’m so excited about Persona 3 being ported to the psp. As many others before have stated, this will also be the third time I have purchased this game, which my friends have called me stupid for(until they play the games their selves). There is just something about it(whether it be the memorable characters, themes, relationships between the characters, or the feeling that you are the hero) that draws me into playing it again and again. I’ve been pumped for the release ever since i pre ordered back in March for this and just to prove its awesomeness my brother has been trying to steal my psp just so he can play on it(he has also stated that he wants the hat to). I’m very interested in seeing what story elements are different between the male protagonist and female protagonist. I’m also excited that the made the battle system more like Persona 4 instead of Persona 3.
I think I am looking forward most to the aspects of the female lead (New S.Links and so forth) and the inclusion of new Personas.
I’m excited about the addition of the control given to your party that was not in the original release. I never finished Persona 3 on the PS2, largely in part because of this I think (I did complete 4 which of course already had this built in).
I’m also excited about playing persona with a slick look to it – I’ve only owned an HDTV since the release of the original persona 3 and as anyone who has played PS2 games on an HDTV knows, it hurts the appearance significantly.
Believe it or not I’m actually excited about the hat also. The hat has a subtle look to it that doesn’t scream out “I’m a hardcore gamer!” so I can actually wear it out in public and the only people who look like they will “get it” are other P3 fans.
I am SUPER PUMPED to play through this 80+ HOUR STORY all over again, with TWO MAIN CHARACTERS, ON THE GO. this is like getting 3 times the value for your money.
I’m excited for the truly unique experience that is Persona 3 to finally hit the PSP so I can totally let out my inner nerd in plenty of public places even if this doesn’t go that well with the boss, the public at large, or the ladies. Persona 3 Portable is worth going against all of that for what is probably gonna be the best experience for my tastes on the PSP.
I’m mostly looking forward to playing as the female lead now. I love the interaction with the male lead and the girls, always love the final scene between all of them and now i get to see the female counterpart to them all and get my laughs in all over again. Im also looking forward to seeing the changes to the story as the female and fall in love all over again with the ending. July 7th cant come fast enough!!! Hoping to try a bit of the game out if they’re showcasing it at Anime expo this year :D
About the changes that have been made and how changing the story to fit the female character might ruin it …or not.
I can’t wait to play as a female character…
… and that way, I’ll be able to date Akihiko-senpai!! ^w^
TOO EXCITING!!!!
