As many of you know, today marks the third anniversary of PS3 and PlayStation Network. It’s amazing to think how far we’ve come in three short years. At launch three years ago, PS3 was a cutting edge gaming console, ushering in the idea of a forward thinking format like Blu-ray that few people had heard of. We were committed to that concept and how it would impact the gaming landscape for the next generation. Today, Blu-ray Disc is the next gen standard media format giving PS3 game developers a larger canvas to create games that continually push the envelope on rich, immersive gaming experiences.
In its infancy, PlayStation Network began as a free service to gamers offering an online commerce option for games and game content. Today, it offers an unrivaled social networking experience in PlayStation Home, a robust video delivery service for purchasing and renting SD and HD content from every major studio, social networking applications like Facebook, instant streaming content from Netflix, and a rich selection of more than 450 games for PS3 and PSP…oh, and yes, it’s still free.
Momentum is going strong and signs are only pointing up for us. In October, we saw a 70 percent increase in PS3 sales over last October. This was fueled by a marketing campaign that many of you have commented on, but also by a new slimmer and lighter form factor with a larger hard-drive for $100 less. We’re seeing hundreds of thousands of you joining the PlayStation family every day, and we welcome you to check out all of the amazing things that PlayStation has to offer.
We are really hitting our stride here and with how far you’ve seen us come in three short years, imagine how far we’ll go with the next three. It all starts with this holiday and blockbusters like UNCHARTED 2 and Ratchet & Clank, and only gets better in Q1 with MAG, Heavy Rain and God of War III.
Really, what I’m here to say is, thanks for all of your support. Without your enthusiasm and feedback, PS3 wouldn’t be what it is today.

Its been a jaw dropping HD experice these 3 years. amend to that
but as far as PS3 goes, well i bought the 60GB at launch and it died in late 2008 so 2 year life for 60GB thats pretty good. i bought the 80GB PS3 early 2009 so far no problems at all.
the launch of video store was awesome.
oh, i almost forgot, i loved the PLAYB3YOND Tv ads those were sweet! this new campaign “it only does everything” its okay so far mean i do like the TV ads that are pretty funny. but PLAYB3YOND Tv ads were way cooler.

i was there!!!! at madison avenue waiting to get my hands on my ps3 , its been quite an interesting journey but its not nearly finish yet lol , i still have to play 3 of my 4 most anticipated titles this generation and they are all coming out next year!!!! ( God of War 3 , Gran Turismo 5 and The Last Guardian ) and keep bringing more kick ass games that only you guys can bring , happy birthday from someone who has supported your grandpa( psone) , your pa( ps2) , you and your little brother (psp ), happy birthday PS3 !!!
I am a proud owner of a first generation 60GB console bought on day 1, and it’s still working perfectly, and quietly. I am glad I was nearly first in line to get my console. The PlayStation 3 turned out to be exactly what I envisioned it to be. And it’s great being in the PlayStation family.

I bought a 60GB model 3 years ago. I was happy with it until this summer when I got my first YLOD. I send it back to sony for a 170$ repair cost. Now 2 months later I got the YLOD again on my refurb ps3 and lost all my data again.
So I’m kind of disapointed with the ps3 at a certain point right now. Sony always claimed that the ps3 is a great machine who didnt broke and now it seems many people have the problem i got and my ps3 join my 360 who also died 2 times in 2 years.
So, yeah, the ps3 is great, but after payer 650$ at launch + 170$ for reparation and it still not fonctionnal I will think twice before buying a system at launch.

Thanks TO YOU Sony, I mean, you are the ONLY company that dares to deliver a totally NEW hardware every game generation. Knowing the risks that today’s market has.
Even so, ou keep pushing the technology and even so, you try to deliver the best games or the console.
Of course, there was mistakes, but important thing is to NOT MAKE THEM but to LEARN FROM THEM and try to keep better every day.
The PS3 is a impressive console, a very hardware-reliable console that has one of the best game library of all times, sadly other coMpanie$, play dirty. I hope you can capitalize this momentum and dont lose it.

@ 68 dude i hate to break the news to you but nothing last forever sometimes stuff happen . my ps3 die on me 1 time so i pay for it to get fix and it still working . i will be getting a ps3 silm so i will have two ps3 lol i haven’t turn on my 360 in six weeks , uncharted 2 is that good i can’t wait for mag happy b day sony.

by the way with out the psn the ps3 would have not got where it is today. look at the wii it only has a network that is called wii wifi that really sucks. sony hit it right when they made it to be the xboxlive killer. i belived in it from day one and always will belive in it. i was one of the oners of the ps2 fates back in the day that thing ran good till 2003 then it stoped reading discs in the drive. i got it fixed for free but it never ran the same. so sony it was good that you made the ps3 better then you did the ps2 because it never stopes reading the dics even ater shuting off and bliking red from over heating. this is not my forst ps3 because after 4 months of using it it died on me. so i got a exchang from you and never a problem. the only thing i have with it is that it does run slow some times but i can still play my games offline. so good jub sony i know in my hart you will pull this gen out with a nother win. Happy Burthday ps3 and psn. also by the way the psn is hear to say it will be on the ps3-ps7 and beyound.

Hello guys and girls of the world of Sony Playstation. Just wanted to wish Playstation 3 a happy 3rd birthday. I look forward to more stuff coming out every month/year/week etc. I also have a 60 GB model too which plays all the games too. Just feel alittle lousy that the current models don’t play the ole PS2 games. I’ve been playing Playstation games since 1995. Still have some PS one games too. The cool part I love is that you can upgrade the hard drive. Remember you have to have a 2.5 inch hard drive and make sure you back up the hard drive before putting the new one in.
