If you are like us, you’ve marked your calendars and informed all and sundry that, come November 10, you will be shirking your day-to-day responsibilities in favor of tossing flashbangs and dropping brass on any and all opponents in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Forget work, school, and jury duty – this Tuesday it’s all about who can get the most Killstreaks as we embark on a shoot-or-be-shot journey through the war torn landscapes of one of the most highly-anticipated titles of the year.
For those of you who are saving the single-player campaign for a later time and instead opting to spend D-Day knee-deep in some of the most ridiculously addictive multiplayer modes you’ll find in any FPS around, there’s no better place to find a battle than in PlayStation Home. Why? First and foremost, PlayStation Home allows you to easily find other CoD:MW2 fans and seamlessly launch into the various multiplayer match types including Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Domination, Team Deathmatch and the new Demolition and Capture The Flag modes. But to top it off we’re also offering participants in our launch day event a unique opportunity to score some free prizes just for coming out and playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – namely, the Modern Warfare 2 Veteran ARTFX statue (pictured below).
This 1/6-scale (12” tall) statue depicts Cpt. “Soap” MacTavish of Task Force 141, equipped with custom snow camouflage and weaponry, as seen in the “Cliffhanger” mission from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. 10 of these special prizes will be awarded at random to users that attend the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 “Featured Game” event tonight, Tuesday, November 10 between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:00pm PT (9:00pm and 1:00am EST). The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 event marks the beginning of a new type of regularly occurring event in PlayStation Home – the “Featured Game” party. Every day one of the latest and greatest PlayStation 3 games (that have an online multiplayer component, of course) will be showcased in PlayStation Home. Official host accounts (manned by the Home Community Management team, the Home Community Volunteer team, and – when available – game developers and other celebrity players) will gather in Central Plaza between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:00pm PT (9:00pm and 1:00am EST). A list of host accounts will be placed on the screens at the Listen@Home kiosk in Central Plaza as well as on the official PlayStation Home Clubs and Events forum.
If you have the Featured Game and want to join in on the fun, just add one of these accounts and then use the “Go To” feature to travel to official “instances” of Central Plaza where the event is taking place (you can find the “Go To” option in your Menu Pad by going to your Friends List and then selecting the name of the host account). Once at the event, insert the Featured Game into your PlayStation 3 and either set up your own game launching session or join someone else’s (just look for the game title being broadcast above another player’s avatar).
Not only are the Featured Game parties fun events that anyone can join, they also offer opportunities to win awesome prizes and, most importantly, meet new people to game with. We couldn’t be more stoked to kick off this new community program with a title like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Expect to see all of us in Central Plaza right at 6:00pm PT on Tuesday, November 10th. And we’ll expect to see you there as well.

It’s too bad the invite system in MW2 is currently ineffective. We can’t get a game to start because we can’t even get a group in a party…
I have tried n tried, and sent ADD A Friend invites since 9pm, and each time it comes back, This user has reached the maximum number of friends blah blah blah…so no offense, but this IS BS………You KNOW for a GUARENTEED FACT this game is in high demand, and you know there are MANY members of HOME who play online games, I would assume/think and reasonably guess that you would have MORE then 3 or 4 “hosts” that are offering HOME launching events of the Online MP…..to continually get, sorry they have reached their maximum amount of friends crap, shows a TOTAL LACK clarity to the obvoius..lol sorry but their are WAY MORE THEN 500 PEOPLE who have bought this game, who have HOME and who want to play n get into the Online MP campaign with fellow HOME Members where we CAN WIN prizes etc..

Anyone who didn’t add these “Home” friends right after you posted this can’t get in. They all reached max really quickly. It’s a shame, I was really looking forward to trying out Home again. Seems like you guys have squandered that once more.
Would it really be that hard to have changed the “Game” space (you know, that one that was loaded with Fat Princess stuff) into a temporary MW2 space? Or even just a blank area where people who wanted to take part could go? This friends list business was crap from the start.
I tried joining in several sessions and was never able to get a multiplayer game going. In one launch, I was just taken to the main menu of the game. No multiplayer. Another launch never happened because we only could get 4 out of 6 slots filled. The third launch attempt froze in PS Home. The whole process is too complicated, just to even try to get to a game launch in the right place. Good idea, but needs to be simplified and plenty of bugs still need to be worked out. I’m all for it, if it could work. Went back to solo play in MW2.
Getin this after school tomorrow… Played it today (on x-box :p sorry) and it was awesome !! Especially the spec. ops mode… Can’t wait
Finally something that might have had me use Home and it turns into another major disappointment. Playstation…. It only does everything? Where’s the cross game voice chat at then? Hell, 360 had it years ago. Well, at least the ps3 is shiny and pretty.

SONY im having trouble playing MODERN WARFARE 2 with my friends, everytime i try to join my friends games i get some error message, …. WHAT GIVES …
We need to be able to launch the DJ Hero Game from our personal space, whereas we can invite people and they can hear the music. Possibly see the performance as well. Maybe on the TVs if you make them work. Or a DJ hero space to play the game, and dj tournements. And can we change the weather so we can really appreciate our winter clothes

the thing i didn’t like about the game was the whole invite system the part where u can join a friend is cool but i hate that u have your whole friends list in your invite section i really enjoyed the old one fast and efficient this one is not the same i think you guys should really look into changing that. lol please!!
Happened to win a free copy of the game on PS3 and i have to say that this is totally typical for the PS3 to get shafted with a crappy server..Activision doesn’t like Sony. This proves it. Il be playing on the 360 til the party system is fixed.

Ever heard of a thing called BETA TESTING? This isn’t like some map exploit that slipped through the testing phase, this is a major component of the game that is broken, AND playing with one’s friends is for some THE reason to play the game.
The night of the launch, I spoke with another guy in line who said that multiplayer was 90% of what he played in the first Modern Warfare, and that the hard part was choosing which friends to build out his team. I think that illustrates what an important feature party invites are to the game.
It would be great if we could have a dedicated MW2 blog post to air grievances and also appreciation of the other features that were thankfully done right.

Please get your act together regarding the servers for Modern Warfare 2. Seriously. Did you not expect it to be a super HUGE bandwidth load??? Its only the largest videogame release in the history of videogames…
The game is awesome. The problems that i have are the party invite. COD5 was a much smarter invite system. The matchmaking server is the only screen that I have been seeing all day when trying to play online. I agree, there should have been better preperation for the first couple days of the games debut. At least put a message saying that you are aware of the problem and it is being worked on. Hopefully some updates can fix the issues. But, for now pretty frustrated.
So what do all the people behind the scenes of these big games do on the day before or day of its release? Are the PSN techies all working manditory overtime to make sure the network stays up? Are the Infinity people all out at a booked solid ball room getting their jiggy on? While we were in line at midnight, what were they all doing? :-)
I am so piss off about the MW2 network. you would think that the release would be the biggest release and that they would be prepared for a huge network bust. I feel just returning the game to get my money back till you guys have the network fix. could anyone tell me whats going on since I love my game with the network.

Are you saying that if i download that crap Home then i can actually invite my friends to a party? That is gay to say the least. the game had been ready for months at the time of its release these errors with trying to invite your friends should have been worked out by now. 62$ worth of fail. I get 6 hours of offline play through story and frustration online trying to hook up with friends. Ive been with playstation since ps1 but crap like this makes me want to take my chances with a “red ring of death” box. Fix this now please.
