They actually have a Q&A where they are responding to at least some of the user complaints.
Way to Go Eric Lempel and Patrick Seybold for your complete and utter failure at providing any meaningful feedback to Sony customers on this mess you’ve foisted on us.
I would love to have my external hdd function for sending files to my friends off it back…worked before the update…create a mail, attach a file from the external hdd, mail is sent, friend gets file from my external hdd. Sound familiar? Be nice to do it again…..
I’m seriously surprised that everyone is having problems after the 3.0 update. Thwere are annoyances but my original 60GB model is working fine. I hope you guys having the problems get them sorted out soon.

I just wanted to say I actually like 3.00 –
I like the new ticker, sparkles and what’s new section. I have Uncharted but I’ll play it again before the fix and before Uncharted 2 comes out.
Nice job on the relaunch, Sony. I picked up a 2nd PS3, and I work with 3 guys who bought a slim for the first time. A friend had an Xbox RROD on him and he replaced it with a 120GB :) Good to see him on my PSN list, we went to high school and he lives 3000KM away :)
I am SCARED of continuing turning on and trying to play my game. We shouldn’t fear our video game systems that we invest alot of money into. 2.80 really was the PS3 at it’s best right now. So, ll in all my problems are this:
1. I want the old start-up screen back with the old chime because it kind of feels like a slap in the face for people who don’t have or really want a Slim.
2. I want the old PLAYSTATION 3 logo screen when I launch a game..again, kinda like another slap for “Fat” owners. It says PLAYSTATION 3 on the top of our systems for human’s sake.
3. Annoying ticker, too many PSN icons everywhere in the menu. Font too big for people who have yet to get a HDTV where I read is STILL annoying. And of course the ugly Friends list and etc. with browsing and music, etc. etc.
I feel like you rushed 3.0 for the release of the PS3 Slim.. I mean it this was for the Slim itself, okay but it does not match with the old models. Little things like that matter. Come on Sony, I still love you and believe in you but please listen and use this HUGE power in the PS3!!
I have an original 60GB model, if anyone was wondering why I was scared in my last comment.

I would just like to say how much i LOVE th new update! (ESPECIALLY DA SPARKLZE!!!) I love the new little ubdate box witch tells me everything i want to know nice and clear. However, i do miss the *ding!* when starting games. I may be a playstation fanboy, but i have a damn good reason for it.

i hook up my ps3 to the modem…i then turn on the ps3 switch..i c the green light on the ethernet in the back of the system.. i also wait for the modem to register the connection.. then i do an internet connection test..it then tests resut say this

then says please see system settings with sytem update..
*basically telling me to update to 3.0 before it will connect to the last 2.. but i then try system update and it then waits for like 3min then says sorry connection failed. please see network settings for details..
*THEN.. I SELECT THE (INTERNET CONNECTION TEST ).. ALL FAILED.. FAIL FAIL FAIL..
SO..i keep turning of ps3 turning on ps3.. turning off ps3… an it only seems to let me get success’s on my connection but not to the network; when i let it sit..TURNED OFF.. for 5-10min..

I hooked up my ps3 to the net over the weekend,eventhough i’ve had it for awhile so i dunno how the whole interface was b4 the update. But i enjoy the expierence i dont mind anything about it except i downloaded a batman arkham asylum wallpaper wit the icons but the friends list doesnt look anything like the rest of the icons thats my only gripe,plus i sumtimes i have trouble wit my browser.

So many complaints about such incidental things. I wish I could rate comments here. Anyways, I also wish SCEA would fix the old trophy issue someday….I still have broken trophies for games just for changing my password.
i can’t check the battery level of my bluetooth headset anymore… before it appears on the upper right corner of the screen when you turn on the headset or when you adjust the volume… hope Sony fixes this…
Ok is the fix coming? I just updated FW just out of curiosity and noticed that the fan spinning faster even when not playing games compared to preview FW. I can feel that it is getting more heat. Is this FW designed to work with OLD models anyway?
It’s good thing that I don’t have time to play PS3 for time being but if this don’t get fixed soon I’m expecting to see tides of critisism comming. SONY better act soon.

I for one didn’t update my PS3 to the latest firmware why. Because it removed the cool features that actually made the PS3 look cool.
I want the chrome “gling” sound back or at least give us the option to make it “on” or “off”. I don’t mind the extra second as you guys use as one of your excuses. And I want the new boot-up “PS3” logo off my screen, it looks really bad and stupid since most of us already have the original font. Or at least give us the options to whether have the classic boot-up “on” or “off” . I really don’t mind the rest of the update, what I really wish there was is MORE CUSTOMIZATION.

Was new FW designed to pull more juice to core? Resulting overheating problem to old models that have less capacity to handle heats?
Hope this comment isn’t too late, but please fix the PSN sign-in problems that have cropped up after this firmware installed. Even after logging in from the XMB some games (eg Saints Row 2) now refuse to acknowledge that I’ve been signed in already and the multiplayer function no longer works.
Why is Sony withholding what ‘technical’ items were fixed in 3.0? All people know is the cosmetic stuff you have changed but I see no where that you list what bugs you actually fixed in the previous firmware. Why is that? Why the secrecy? Most every company that releases patches provides a changelist of items that were touched. You say

Its been 5 days!! where’s the fix?
Yes – this FW update a disaster.
I lasted 2 maybe 3 days playing awful NZ Map Pack 3 online – constantly getting chucked out from server. Then game disc wouldnt continue so had to do restart every time. Now NO DISC RECOGNISED at all.
Also no FLASH drive recognised – anyone had this one?
Am hoping update will fix this. If not and my Playstation is broken I am going to take this as far as I possibly can to get a replacement. No way you can break your product by updating it and expect the owner to shrug his shoulders and go and BUY ANOTHER ONE.
Is this just a coincidence to coincide with Slim release? Hmmm…

Sony is trying to emulate Microsoft with broken hardware/software and get people to go out and buy multiple consoles like sheep. It’s all a big conspiracy to get everyone to go out and buy a slim.

I have an Xbox 360 which never, again Never made any problems. And as soon as i buy a PS 3 with ONE game wich is Uncharted i can`t play it. That sucks!
I regularly play music on my PS3 and before the update it was amazingly easy. Since the update, while a song is playing i am no longer able to go back to the XMB to set up the next song to play. Now when i press the PS button it asks me if i want to quit playback instead of taking me to the XMB while the music still plays. WTF? Why are you taking AWAY features with an update Sony? Please fix this.
Listen up Sony, when you give people an update. Don’t take away the old stuff. Allow people to turn on the features of the new update. Don’t force people into it.
1. I don’t like the top/right notification. I want options to turn that off. I never used the previous ones and I don’t want to use the new one now.
2. When browsing my video and music, I like it the way it was before where the selected file pops out and the other text still shows onscreen. I don’t like it that the unselected text disappears. I like to see what’s next and before as I scroll, I do not want the text to disappear when I stop scrolling.
Every game freezes on a 60gb launch console. wtf. this system had never frozen until this update. fix please.
I have an 80GB PS3 and since the update I have played several games and not once did it freeze or did I have any issues. Cursing and screaming at Sony is not gonna solve anything. They are looking at what’s causing the problem and will fix it.. so everyone needs to shut up and go outside and live their life. It’s really pathetic how kids are today. No respect whatsoever. This is what happens when you take God out of the equation. The world is in Hell and reading these comments is proof.. Shame.. Go read John 3:16 and Romans 12:2 !
I have a 60gb launch console as well and for awhile I was unable to quit any disc based game without the console restarting and not being able to go back into dashboard. The only fix I found to this problem I was experiencing was to pull the power cord put it back in and power up the system again. I only started to experience this problem when I updated to 3.0.

Please, please bring the OPTION to toggle the “chime” the PS3 logo at the start of games.
What am I playing? An Xbox game? A Wii game? Please give us the option, don’t just take it out. I don’t mind having to wait a few seconds longer to start up my game.
Really, this is my only complaint about the 3.0 firmware.
