UPDATE: The PS3 Firmware (v3.00) update is now live. You can use this update to upgrade your system software to version 3.00.
Just in time for the official launch of the 120 GB PlayStation 3, PS3 Firmware (v3.00) will be available shortly. As detailed during gamescom 09, 3.00 will introduce a number of great features, including “What’s New,” a redesigned status indicator and Friends List, and support for new avatars and dynamic themes.

Can’t sign in from USA main account, I tried my sub-account and the EU account signed in.

I’m unable to log into the PSN as well, haven’t gotten past “signing in” since I installed…
60GB running 3.00 and I’m in NY on a wired Cable connection. I want to play some games (online). It looks great though.

wooo ive got the update! the only thing is now i cant sign in…but my internet is fine because i posted this on my ps3 browser
works fine so far from what i see… nothin really too amazing though but “It only does Everything” already
newest 80gb sku user on 1080i hdtv and set to 5.1 optical at the moment using wireless g via a netgear draft n router
updated suprisingly fast compared to other updates that just hit the net before
This is just my opinion, but why is the friends display so ugly now? The gray blocks are not aesthetically pleasing at all. :/
this new friends list is obtrusive and very ugly. please bring back the old one!!!

I had the same issue with signing in as well. Then I just left it alone for a bit, and I am now logged on. Just wait!
Ugh, I don’t like the new “zoomed in” larger icons at all. Less is visible on the screen, also not sure I like the gray panels on friends list. And too bad they didn’t update PSN Store with a special update with some themes.

I love everything with the new firmware… except one thing. The friends list grey boxes. I don’t get why they are there. Look kinda ugly.

I’m not sure, but think the sign in problems some people are having are due to so many people downloading and signing in all at one time.
I know I had the problem, but did get on after a bit.
What I actually did when I got the sign in problem, was go and sign into Home and I came up ok.
Let me go download this and see what it looks like. I had planned on just waiting, but so many people, for better or worse, are talking about it.
USA account = “Logging in please wait!”
Hong Kong accout = “Logging in please wait!”
European account = LOGS IN RIGHT AWAY!!
Why make everything so ugly?
Friends list is horrible, font is huge, the scroll bar/window thing at the top is disgusting (it’d be better if you could stop the scrolling).
Give me an option to make it EXACTLY how it used to be, this is horrible.
Fail update is fail. Everything is cluttered now. Ugly bootup screed with that ugly new PS3 logo. All they did was add a “Message List” button under the profile. No bootup screen when starting a game. Try harder next update.
ugh. i downloaded and installed it, and it was beautiful. but for some reason i couldn’t sign in. i waited a minute, and it worked. AND NOW I SEE THE FRIENDS LIST. wtf. ugliest thing i’ve ever seen. FIX IT SONY!! the rest of the new theme is so nice, but the new friends list kills it. and some avatars please?
I can’t sign back in again either after the update… also, anyone tried playing an MP3? If I leave it on the new default multi output frequency (in Music Settings) I get absolutely no audio out of an MP3… audio from the menus, etc all seem to work fine… if I switch it back to 48kHz it works normally… FAIL :(

Boot screen, “What’s new”, and animated background is cool.
The new font size is absolutely horrendous, however. And the friends list looks cluttered.

I love the shiny sparkles with the new firmware. It looks like you guys did a lot with the firmware but I can’t sign in to check it all out.
the dynamic theme idea is pretty sweet but i hardly ever spend enough time lookin at my xmb to really care whats behind it .. except when im away from a game
the glitter does help cut down on the image retention though if your an hdtv user and hate the burn in of a still image
Other than the sign in problem….the XMB and new logo really look nice (in my own opinion).
Like the clock and friend list display too.
Now just waiting for the 1.3 for Home update.
Think people gotta be really patient when signing in because a lot of people are doing the same as you right now…Sit back relax and let it take the time it needs to sign you on. (think the servers are going a bit crazy).
