For those that recall the God of War survey conducted earlier this year, an overwhelming amount of the community suggested the PlayStation 2 experiences of Kratos be brought forth to the PlayStation 3.
Thanks to your feedback, we are excited to announce the God of War Collection for this Holiday Season. Now fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic journey of God of War and God of War II in 720p HD form. Both titles have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics, running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience, only on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring the PlayStation Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the very first time.
This is your chance to experience God of War is its true form before the chaos of God of War III hits store shelves come March 2010.

Scheduled for release this holiday season, God of War Collection will feature reworked versions of both God of War® and God of War® II on a single Blu-ray Disc™ at full 1280 x 720 resolution. Both critically acclaimed games, which were originally developed for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring PlayStation®Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the first time (included for both games). God of War Collection offers substantial value to PS3 consumers, the compilation of both best-selling games costing just $39.99 MSRP.
Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, Santa Monica Studio, the God of War series brings epic mythological battles to life with stunning graphics and an elaborate plot that puts Kratos, the triology’s main character, at the center of carnage and destruction as he seeks revenge against the Gods who have betrayed him. God of War® III is scheduled for release exclusively on the PS3 in March 2010.

God of War Storyline
Set in the dark world of ancient Greek mythology, players take on the role of Kratos, a Spartan warrior. Plagued by the nightmares of his past, the ash covered warrior would do anything to be free of his debt to the Gods and the memories that haunt him. Nice one sony but i read somewhere that we would be getting a demo of GOW3 with this deal?? i guess not then but still a sweet deal for all the people who haven’t played GOW1 OR 2 and for me to get ready for 3 ;-)
This is a great way to show support to a system that no longer has backwords compatibility with PS3. It also does Sony well to make money off people who had no experience with the original. I applaud Sony for draining poor fools of extra money by adding trophy support and tweaking the resolution and fluidness of a pair of epic games. Great idea, but I’m not going to be buying another compilation since I own both the originals.
This is absolutely AMAZING!!!! I never played the first two so buying these will get me ready for the inevitable God of War III. Great job Sony. You guys are on BEAST mode now!
definitely a first day buy for me and my best friend i bet as we’d both been hoping for months that this was going to be a reality.
i would like to see Ico and Shadow of the Colossus done in the same manner. Ico is near impossible to find even a used copy of and my best friend has never played either title and is interested in the series but no longer owns a PS2 to play them on.

This is by far the coolest news this year for CURRENT Playstation 3 owners. The Slim and price cut announcements were awesome for people on the fence for buying the machine, but for those of us who’ve had a PS3 for awhile, this is much bigger news!
Now, please listen to me, listen to the fans, we are RIGHT on this matter, and that is: Do a similar collection for Team Ico before The Last Guardian comes out!
ICO and SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS at 720p (though try your hardest to make it 1080p, please!), 60 fps, anti-aliasing, and trophy support. You’re talking serious epic win if you pull that off for us! Not to mention that Ico is very rare, and for 40 bucks, in high-definition, current-gen glory with trophies as an incentive, a ton of people who never got to experience those two gems will get to finally see what all the fuss is about and that’ll only help you to market and increase the awareness of The Last Guardian before it launches.
Please, take this friendly word of advice. Ico. Shadow of the Colossus. PS3 combo pack. Do it!

ya know what would really sweeten the pot, is to include God of War: Chains of Olympus for PSP and a Digital Copy to put on your PSP. Kind of like digital copies for DVD movies.
