We’d like to provide a quick update on Life with PlayStation for PLAYSTATION 3. We know many of you are eager to try out the new service for yourself, but you’ll have to hold tight. Due to a few procedural matters, the new service will make its way to PlayStation fans in August.

Rest assured, Life with PlayStation will be a service that introduces a new way to interact with your PS3. By bringing information from around the world into your living room, Life with PlayStation will offer a variety of interactive content and channels on a visually stunning worldwide map interface.

We’re focused on continuously expanding the world of PS3 through new services and hope to do just that with the upcoming launch of Life with PlayStation.

Didn’t Sony have plenty of time to release firmware 2.40?? but no they didn’t test it properly. It just shows they rushed it all in a long period of time. So Sony had to re-release it to 2.41.

  • Cool, can’t wait.

  • @196 That is what Sony wants, MORE FREAKING TIME!!!! “Please take your time, take your time” Everything is take your time, Bull. SONY NEEDS TO FIX THEMSELVES WITH ALL THIS WAITING. TOO MUCH TIME!!!! If they need time, than they should have NOT RELEASED THE PS3 and took all the time they want to fix it. BULL!!!!

  • Time Time Time!!!! SONY JUST NEEDS MORE TIME!!!!! Always more time. Just freaking quit the gaming console war and take all the time in the world to fix things. stupid.

  • @203
    GOOD POINT!

  • I have to point out that the PS3 is awesome with the value with the included features of the wifi, blu-ray, HDD, HDMI but it lacks many things that the xbox 360 has already. How could you call PS3 ‘This is living’? Maybe it’s Sony’s way of living, I dunno?! Sony continues with the lack of games, lack of features, Playstation Network is still at a poor standard, no in-game voice chat, trophy support is not mandatory as well as custom music which the xbox 360 obviously has advantaged over the PS3. PSP continues to be dominated by the DS, no decent games are arriving to the PSP and PS3 looks overly exciting…not. I’m already sick of Home. Everyone enjoy the suckiness while you can, lol.

  • I’m mad to but atleast they updated us on it

  • @Phenzcrete

That is going a bit too far. Relax dude!

  • Very Cool. Thanks for the update.

  • is this only for the states, or will this be a service available everywhere?

  • It’d be nice to get a video of the service to sooth our eagerness, Noam. =]

  • Shocking another delay!!!!

  • Shocking another delay! This why Sony is far behind they can’t get things out in a proper manner.

  • What is going on here. This is too much. The boards havn’t been this interesting since the delay in firmware 2.4

  • I can’t wait to download this little thing! I have been missing the news stuff from my Wii for a while now (May it have found a better home with a famliy who will make better use of it then I ever did)

This will give me the chance to read daliy news and check the weather on a good connection! (Wii tends to drop out every 2 hours and was a major pain in the butt trust me)

  • Yeah second me on what #203 said!

I’m getting rid of this Delaystation…

  • Agree with #203…

[DELETED] Sony and their delays… And Jack Tretton should be fired!

  • screw you guys, honestly, screw you for lying to us and deceiving us the whole way through.

  • 1- Question most often asked to any software developper? (until they finally cave in and commit to a date)

When is your software coming out.

2- Why did your software got delayed?

Because I was tired of being asked for a date, so I gave you one, but it was not bang on, sorry.

3- Why is there a patch for every software coming out now?

Because we have to commit to a date because of fans, rush our software out to meet this date, and sure enough because of that, things happen.

There’s some people here who have spent more time complaining about Life delay, than they will ever spend time on it!!! It’s free, and it’s just a funky way to get news you can get somewhere else. What’s the rush? I surely wish I could find out how much time those guys who are complaining will spend on Life.

For me, it’s always better when software comes out when it’s ready. Never had the urge to ask: when? when? when?.

  • Why do SONY allow any F00Ls on this for to Comment on this for???
Most of you lot sound like xBots!!! :-/
    GET A LIFE!

  • @221

Learn how to speak english pal, you need some lessons desperatley you little fanboy. I would get mad but cant even understand you due to your lack of grammar you fool.

  • Did anyone notice who is on the top of this blog?!?! Its all the way on the top of the page? HEY !!! I KNOW THAT GUY!! THAT’S THE GUY THAT WENT ON NATIONAL TELEVISION AND LIED TO EVERYBODY!!! …what a jerkoff, him and jeff do nothing but ignore us, whenever we ask them a question as to why stuff gets delayed they avoid it at all costs, and answer questions about some piece of crap PSN game that i will never buy….Its time you man up Jeff, why ignore us? Thats so puzzy.

  • THanks for the update since everyone’s curious. This is what the blog is for. Sorry it’s rated so low. People want an update then are mad when the update isn’t what they wanted to hear.

Looking forward to the service and please continue to post!

  • oh god the delay station strikes again

  • Thank you so much, guys. The open communication is much more important than the precise date that something comes out.

Even something as cool sounding as Life With PlayStation. ;-)

  • I don’t understand why people complain so much. You asked for an update, you got it, and are still pissed off. Oh wow, August, guess what? IT’S ALREADY AUGUST. Get a life complainers.

  • Its funny, I was just on here yesterday trying to calm down some whiners about why the playstation store dosn’t update until mid-thursdays instead of early in the morning or late wednesday night. I told them “be patient! being vocal on this isn’t going to get Sony to move mountains for you. Wait until it’s actually after the deadline of when they said they’d release it THEN start to complain.”

    ……..

so if all those complainers are still out there,I officially put my foot in my mouth.

I’m figuring Big Man Jack over at Sony probably just fumbled the sentence out wrong at E3 and didn’t want to back track after hearing audience buzz. Who knows……sucks to be you guys though! Video update for LWP will win some of these guys back….now if you do that just try and not delay that too…

  • @203

You seem to describe your mother a lot…

but on topic. i’m STILL convinced that my theory is right! (page 3, post 106) and it’s free right?

  • Wow, the colorful language that some people use when mommy and daddy aren’t supervising their internet usage.

Half of you who are complaining aren’t even going to use this service anyway. You guys constantly cry about delays on the PS3, but these things happen…EVERYWHERE! You guys only know about PS3 delays because that is probably all you have. The 360 and Wii have BOTH experienced major delays as well. Where are Alan Wake and Splinter Cell Conviction, BTW? Games have been delayed since the days of the arcade.

Here’s a little hint that will keep you from being butthurt in the future. STOP reading every single gaming site, blog, and video and hanging on to a single date as fact. Release dates are almost NEVER met. If you think waiting a few extra weeks or months is so bad, keep in mind, people are STILL waiting for Chinese Democracy AND Duke Nukem Forever!

  • thanks for the update. Will it be released via firmware update or the store>

  • I second what # 203 said!

I’m done with Sony’s BS! I already invested money into my ps3 but I’m not going to anymore! You lost a customer sony and I’m sure many more!

You’ll lose this next gen war!

  • …in case anyone was wondering, Chinese Democracy is a Guns n Roses album that was started back in 1994. Duke Nukem Forever is a FPS that had an original release date of April 1997.

So it’s not that major if a game or service gets delayed a few weeks, months or even a year or two. People have been waiting over a full DECADE for stuff that STILL hasn’t been released.

  • dude, give them a break.
anyone who knows anything about working in the software development industry knows that for things to be made to run flawlessly, it takes months of proper development and developing time. getting sick and tired of their delays ?
well, they are not doing it intentionally. no developer/studio/corporation does it intentionally so if you dont like it, go to M$ and shut up.

i’m tired of children like you who undermine the value of a well developed product.

  • re: 230

Yes, stuff happens, absolutely. What’s frustrating is when Sony has a perfect vehicle to talk to us about it, to keep us informed.

For whatever bad reason, a lot of us are very excited and into what Sony is doing, and we’re very invested emotionally (and financially!) into the success of the platform. It would be nice if Sony could lower some of the formal marketing walls and just give us some clue of what’s really happening on the inside, the way Major Nelson does over at the competition.

It’s one thing to have a blog, another thing to actually open the kimono enough to have the kind of revelatory communications that can make us all feel like we’re in this together.

  • kinda figured this was going to happen. People get use to it already. Sony never drops stuff on time. Just the way it works.

  • thats the way it is with all companies though.
development has a schedule. things happen or go wrong all the time and things then have to be kicked up a notch to make up for it. for example, even on some random day if their internal network is having technical difficulties, think of the harm that does to what could have been done within that time frame. game companies, other consoles, phones,
movies, all those have delays too.

people only bash on this blog because it provides an easy entry point to offer public out lash.

they hunt for this stuff on every gaming and media site and when they hear and read the SAME single piece of news over and over and over again but regurgitated and a different spin placed on it, that they feel they need to say something in the easiest way possible.
and well, what would be better then to do so on PS’ own blog.

  • Wow you commenter’s are ridiculous! First of all like Jack had anything to do with this delay or knew that it was coming. If he was at E3 just spewing [DELETED] that he knew wasn’t going to happen he would of said Killzone 2 was coming out this year or something big like that! Not some app. about the [DELETED] weather for Christ sake people get a life it’s weather!!! Just look outside! You guys should be happy Sony is even doing anything at all. Apple charges $10 so you can put a store on a $600 iPod! They charge you for something to give them money! Come on people get a grip on life stop blaming people that don’t have a [DELETED] single idea on when something is coming out. Jack doesn’t have a clue on when this is coming out. He just says what people tell him. So someone said it will be done in July he said it will be done in July and again people it’s just the [DELETED] weather and news damn it you guys are all a bunch of babies!

  • Jesus. Look Sony aren’t the only one’s ever delay something, Rockstar delayed Grand Theft Auto multiple times. Sure you have to wait for a little while but if your waiting for this to take up all your time think again, its an added feature not a game that you’ll spend hours on. Go and play your PS3 and just be thankful when the update comes.

Oh and I can gurantee the same people who are moaning about the delay now will be moaning about tiny little things when it is released.

  • Sony, stop setting definitive dates.
Whiners, try programming – ain’t that easy, y’know.

Plus those pathetic enough to vote a post low because someone is updating us on a slight delay is pathetic.

  • sweet cant wait

by the way is it normal that i cant find the greatest title anywhere

  • @Gadbury

    exactly.

I’ve always appreciated Id software’s take on when they plan to release something.

gamers/media/:”so when when can we expect doom 3 to come out?”

Id software: “it’ll be done when it’s done”

PS3’s engine is supposedly incredibly complicated to work with – specifically game development wise. hence the delay for GTA IV when it was originally planned for a November release, then February, and then finally for April.

it’s funny how much something doesnt suck when proper time is invested in something worth while.everyone loves GTAIV on the ps3 and it’s now one of the top 5 games yet on our console.

    so please. just stop it.
these whiners are probably still under the age of 19 who have no concept of time management or what it really takes to develop a game. they hear about a game and their interest in it is fueled by marketing hype and therefore just expect the game to be done and released at the very peak of the buzz surrounding it.

the real world does not work like that.sorry
    but you’re sadly mistaken.

  • no wonder people start calling playstation – delaystation.

  • LIAR!!! YOU HAVE MY TRUST!!!! YOU HAVE LOST MY PATIENCE!!! YOU HAVE LOST MY SUPPORT!!!

  • Im sorry but LWP is a news channel… my god some of these people are ready to kill someone over a delayed news channel… i didn’t know news was that interesting. Ya know what if you hate sony so much sell the ps3 or get a xbox or a wii. Yes they are messing up in the business but i still like my ps3. If you don’t like the console just SELL IT and GO TO THE OTHER ONE. Xbox has the better online,in-game music, and achievement system. Ps3 has better hardware… >.>, I picked it cause of MGS4.

  • #239 has it down perfectly.

The real issue here is giving dates on incomplete projects. I know that if you don’t give a date, you’re going to get flamed for that too but it’s probably still the lesser of two evils.

Instead of dates, it would be better to give a status or a progress report. Nothing detailed or anything, just a little idea as far as when something can be expected.

  • Sony, don’t stick to a date if the choice is meeting a release date or issuing software with outstanding legal issues or serious bugs. Missed dates are embarrassing but bad software and user law suits are far worse.
Shoelace, trade in your PS3 and remove your whining voice from the forum. This will have no negative effect on anyone, particularly Sony. They already have your money!

  • Man, I want to work for Sony. Every company I’ve worked for if things didn’t meet the scheduled release date somebody got fired or removed from their position.

However I see all these guys at Sony delaying things over and over and these same guys are still in charge!

Jack, use some iron fist there!

  • @248 People will flame anything. Some of the people on here dont even have PS3s and are just trolling. Just look at the language that they are using. You KNOW they are not adults and couldn’t possibly be THAT concerned about news and weather on their Playstation. If they were, they would just watch CNN for another week or two.

Also, I love how everyone threatens to get an Xbox or Wii as if they NEVER have delays or problems. Like I mentioned, Alan Wake and Splinter Cell Conviction are still nowhere to be found. As for Nintendo, well if E3 was any indication, they will be taking a year off in 2008.

  • let’s change the subject-

it seem the 360 version of RAGE is going to have to be made on 2-3 dvd’s compared to the PS3 one Blu-ray!

    good news for PS3 fans!

    now….
