So, is this update a preparation for Live With Playstation, which should launch tomorrow (via PS-Store? Though I would have thought it gets its own XMB-Icon+Download like Folding@Home)?

Err… X-box does the same thing and you cant play online until you do it. But stop threating, its pathetic. If you dislike the ps3 switch, easy as that but don’t threaten Sony cause it just looks dumb. A huge company like sony is like 1 in 100.We ordinary people are 1 in a couple billion.

Another slow to download and install update that just fixes bugs from previous updates. Sony really needs to limit the number of updates and ensure that the ones they’re releasing are bug free. I’d rather have two updates a year that are completely tested and loaded with features than endure this Chinese water torture of incremental, buggy patches that do little or nothing.
My request is a easy one PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT THE UPDATED DO!. I’m tired of looking all over the internet on gaming news sites to try and figure out what the latest update do, when I could came to this the “official site” and have all the information I need instead of just a “heads up here we go again”.
So another update but only some titles. It would be nice to know if I will be able to play a full round of gta4 online without getting booted all the time. I usually play with all my friends and they wouldn’t kick me out. It’s becoming quite annoying for me. Also what do you do if your games are not getting read by the ps3, my friend has a 40 gig that will not play any of his games anymore.
Also when if the Life With PlayStation coming?
Oh and Mr. Lempel, can you check into my account for the game PAIN. I had bought it but had alot of issues with my account( Ask Doria Bluth about it)and now it is gone from my downloads list. My psn is SOOPERGOOMAN187 and my email is thatsonyguy at hotmail dot com. I would like to have Pain back since I had paid for it, I have bought all the extras for it too, but If you don’t give it back to me, then I will want all the money that I spent on Pain and characters refunded back into my wallet. I don’t know why it has gone missing as It was the FIRST item I bought in the store back in December of 07. Please help out this Die Hard PlayStation ONLY fan.( I don’t play the other consoles)

I swear, just don’t post this kind of stuff if you aren’t going into specifics about it. Patch notes please. We are in the age of open source and transparent communication between users and developers. Why Sony keeps everything hidden from us?

Great – another slow to download and install update that doesn’t add any features and only fixes bugs from other previously rushed patches.
Sony should really limit these updates to 1-3 per year, so they can take the time to bundle in enough features to make it worth the bother. This will also improve the chances of the updates being stable so they can end this vicious cycle.

Have you guys ever considered using something like the java-based Opera mini in the ps3? I realized the wagglestick console already has this, but my thinking is that if it can run so well on a cell phone, it should work great on something like the ps3 despite it’s lack of memory. I’ve also heard that the guys that make firefox are working on a mobile version of the browser… might be worth a shot.

@Zta @235 considering this as problem??? try use the f.forward/rewind/pause functions when you r in the browser or view pictures…and will see…they just arent accessible anymore!!!not from the new mini control panel(at the top of the music column)not even from the main control panel (the one with the earth animation).now thats a problem caused by the 2.40…most ps3 users havent realized it!!this is a problem we all should complain to sony to fixing it!!dont u agree?
Please don’t release updates near the end of the month when some of us have already used up our monthly internet allowance and are stuck with dial-up speed connections! Haha. Kidding, but I really would like it better near the beginning of the month so I can get the update over with and get back online (yes online works on a dial-up speed connection – Not well, but good enough).

One think that i heard but is not on the update 2.40 is the Bluetooth thing??? Where you can send photos etc on a Bluetooth phone to your PS3??? Hope that comes soon ;)

I have to say that IMHO PS2 B/C Is vary important to me and many other PlayStation3 owners. We love that we can play PS2 games and keep them for as long as we like. But if Sony dose not keep up with the games for the PS2, or even bother to fix the issues that come up during playback, and release a full list of PS2 games and give it better support your going to lose customers.
I think we should do away with PSone games, and focus on PS2 games they are better looking, play better, and have ten times better sound. PSone games should stay on the PSP, but PS2 games should be the PS3s focus for B/C. This way you can take the cash normaly spent on PSone converting for PS2 converting and thus get PS2 games up for download and have a kick butt set up. The PSP handels PSone game perfectly, the PS3 can do PS2 games perfectly now thanks to the Dual Shock 3 controller.
Please consider not releaseing any more PSone games on PSN for the PS3, and instead focus on PS2 games. There is a large number of good PS2 games that if converted right would be great to pay for agian and download to our PS3s and play over and over agian.

Stop releasing these small updates. Wait until you have a larger update and do it all at once. It’s so annoying when you just want to play a game a you have to deal with this. Stop it, please!

What about some more ps2 compatability updates, there are a lot of us out here that still play ps2 games on ps3, the graphics look so much better than on a ps2 console when using a hd tv….the compatability list is from firmware 1.8 and i have a load of games that work but are not on the list. psone games look bad and lack the playability of titles like shadow of the colossus,ico,metal gear solid 2 and 3, timesplitters 1&2 also god of war 1 & 2 they look ace as well..so come on sony more ps2 compatability, theres a lot of 60 gig owners out there.
lets have more ps2 backwards compatability on ps3, games like shadow of the colossus and ico, god of war 1&2 time splitters 1&2 are great games and look so much better on ps3, the 40 gig ps3 can support ps2 games via software emulation,,,the 360 plays original xbox games via emulation and they work fine. give up with psone games because they look bad with great big boarders all around the screen not to mention that most psone games available are rubbish,where is gran turismo,,,i would buy that for my psp. so come on sony more ps2 emulation compatability….

My download took about 4 seconds. Install took 5 minutes. Played about2 hrs Burnout online and things looked normal, although much more laggy than usual. That might have been unrelated though.
Really wish they would release notes with these updates. It’s like, “Hey we changed some things and it’s up to you to figure out what we did!”

I have tried to register here at the blogs on my PS3 and it always freezes up and I have to reboot..I had to use MICROSOFT Windows to register..still not going to fix the horrible browser?
