FFXIII multi-platform? Idiots! I’m betting they’ll dumb down the graphics for both versions while making it work for the Crapbox! Never thought Sony would cold shoulder exclusivity of their biggest RPG exclusive! Nnnnoooooooo…..!!!!

Just read on IGN that FFXIII is first going to be released in Japan. Then they are going to port to the 360 so that it will come out on the same day for both systems in North America. Thus PS3 owners are getting screwed over and have to wait longer due to Xbox 360 development. Wait to go Sony!

Indeed, Japan is no longer the major gaming community as it used to be. The entire hardware sales are not even enough to match DS sales in Europe “alone”. Europe and America are what counts and that is where Sony is focusing on, and the regions where M$ is killing Sony.

:(, well Iv stood by sony for so long, Im almost felt sick today watching the MS conference, them acting all high and mighty.
Its funny to see how cruddy there conference was (sony dont do the same please). And them playing copy this year with Avatars that Sony been working on behind the scenes for years, and Nintendo brining out with the wii. And then the Lips, an copy of Sony’s singstar (sony consider ipod usable music that was cool).
All in all im just confused, how the hell do you plan to get the consles on the market and get your rights as the big company again if you let microsoft buy everything from underyou.
I understood GTA it would have been better exclusive but made sense. But FF please why the hell, your giving them the chance to step ahead as we just caught up :(.
I honestly can’t believe how much we are being screwed over this gen.
I hope the HD war was worth it for them.

Sony seems to be dead set on relying on their first party franchises. The problem is: how many of those franchises are guaranteed to sell in the millions–on a level rivaling Metal Gear Solid 4?

by focusing on genre like FPS?! come on…haze…resistance? haze failed so hard. althought i bought resistance it’s ONLY a sub-par game. 6-7 score out of 10 at most. many loyal playstation fans were loyal to socom and have waited a LONG time. for an ONLINE GAME ONLY we sure are taking a long time to make the thing…geesh then delay it again. i’m afraid i guess all i can look foward to this year is Socom which is exclusive to SONY…i hope maybe zipper will port it to pc/xbox for more sales.
all thank god we didn’t lose MSG4…but i feel that MGS4 will probably be ported over. or MSG5 == multiplatform zzzzz

If SquareEnix stuck with the console that made them who they are, then they would have never left Nintendo…
Final Fantasy XIII The Square Enix press conference has just began with a Q&A session. Obviously everyone are focusing on the recent Final Fantasy XIII announcement:
– The game is being developed using the Crystal Tools, and there will be new footage very soon.
– Kitase refuses to announce how many discs will FFXIII be released in.
– The game will first be released in Japan, and then the localization process will begin. Then, after everything is complete, the game will be developed for the Xbox 360.
– Hashimito says Final Fantasy XIII might not be released at the same time at North American and Europe due to language issues.
– The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will not be different.
– Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
– The decision to release Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360 was made not too long ago.
– The company still doesn’t know if the game will include Xbox Live elements.
So that means… FFXIII is PS3 timed exclusive… *I’m confused*
well i just realized. sony is probably quitting the console market and used the playstation brand to fuel their HD market. IE Bravia TVs and make the world switch to Blu-Ray…they’ve always owned the electronic market but have failed the last decade…ie IPOD (digital music) and TVs as companies like Samsung n Sharp are rivaling Bravia’s with same or better quality at a cheaper price. either way. i think Sony as a whole is gonna die thanks to their ignorance
How about releasing more PS1 Games for the store theres and when are we going to see the PSN cards in local stores.
FFXIII is timed exclusive for PS3 because the release is first in Japan. Nothing more than that.
Don’t worry guys, they’ll probably have someone make yet another FPS and everyone will forget about FFXIII.
if ff has the cut scenes like the ones they kept showing in trailers/teasers. m$ will have to have the game using at least 5 disk minimum. or maybe that’s why the new 60 gig will come out to install the whole freaking game on there…lol

@ mik3yl3 – Bigger? Well, that depends on the user. For me, someone who hates RPGs with a passion, there are many titles that for me are more important than a Final Fantasy game.
Still, as I said earlier, I do recognise that this is a significant coup for MS. But it isn’t really a “loss” for Sony, since the game isn’t a 360 exclusive – it’ll still be on PS3.
Sony may not have a single “bigger” announcement to make, but if they have enough announcements of significant quality, that would be a start.
Sony need to start paying for exclusives, that’s all their is to it. I’d also like to see them snap up some of the better 3rd-party companies who are currently Sony-exclusive (e.g. Insomniac) before MS get their claws into them too.
I am thinking that Metal Gear Solid’s sales are what sealed this happening.
It did good for a PS3 game, but not for a game in these times.
I am also wondering if Sony knew about this.

If SquareEnix stuck with the console that made them who they are, then they would have never left Nintendo…
May I remind you that Squaresoft themselves only became world wide famous thanks to FFVII? Look at software sales, FF games were before that not as big in the West and Dragon Quest, Star Ocean never saw the light in the West on the SNES.
Plus Sony left Nintendo and started out their own console as Nintendo didn’t want to work on a disc system, which they have now since the Gamecube.
I know I’ve voiced my grievances already, but I wanted to point out something to everyone ranting about the loyalty of Square-Enix.
If you will pull out your history books, you will see that Squaresoft made six Final Fantasy games exclusively for Nintendo.
They jumped ship *to* the Playstation brand. Why? Here’s a hint: They saw that they could make more money.
Let me put this in a parable.
Boy meets girl.
Girl already has a boyfriend.
Girl decides she likes this new boy better. Girl leaves boyfriend to be with the better boy.
After time, girl meets another boy that she thinks even better!
For some reason beyond reasoning and rationale, boy is surprised when girl repeats the same action again.
In short, I’m a little sad to see the franchise leave, but I don’t think anyone can say they didn’t see this coming.
It just particularly sucks that we were lied to about it. I suppose could fit that in to my parable, too, but then it would be getting a little personal, no?
When I played GTA pretty much the only thing I could think about was how much better this game could have been for me if it would have been exclusive to PS3. For the love of god, don’t do this to Final Fantasy….
I will go on record right now that Sony has nothing tomorrow.
Their big gun is God of War 3 and all we will get is a title picture.
They will hide behind Killzone 2 again, Little Big Planet again, Bioshock, Socom and Resistance 2.
They will then spend far too long talking about Home, some kind of music and movie download service, trophies and that is it.
The only thing that we may see that has not already been seen a thousand times might be a new Twisted Metal ( probably a PSN game).
i hope the xbox 3sh*tty burns someone’s house down because during cut-scenes the xbox overheated (no one gets injured, except for a few pets) damn it, there is no way to pull the titanic out of the ocean now…zzz kudos to sony! i honestly hope all you executive f**ks read this sh*t. all sell sony stocks as m$ just rose 50 points!

I have been a VIDEO GAME fan for live! And I currently own every system since the Atari 2600. I am getting tired of the cry babies, that complain about losing FFXIII. I am very loyal to the PS, but given it’s roots as being an nintendo add on deal gone bad, and the FACT that FF was a nintendo exclusive, some times you have to roll with the punches. The PS really gave FF life to millions of fans, didnt start there, but most are too young to remember. Thats not the point, the point is Sony with all the bad marketing ploys, delays etc (Sorry Sony, but you really droped the ball, still love ya) will still have FF, for you to continue to enjoy on the PS 3! For the broke people that can’t afford or have bought the 360 this is your chance to play great games. Its a choice, for the ones that are loyal to Sony for games like FF or even GTA… STICK WITH SONY, THEY CANT GET ANY WORSE THAN THERE ALREADY DOING! Over time they will get the hang of consumer demands and will be able to deliver what we want out of the system, without cloning another system.
Oh boo hoo, FFXIII is going to be on the 360. My 360 gets a lot of play, but even I won’t dare consider messing with multiple discs over having the game on bluray. I can’t believe you are complaining about not Sony wasting money buying exclusives (don’t forget GTA4 and Fallout 3 DLC going exclusive to MS). It’s unimportant. And I hope all of those complaining about this aren’t the ones telling us to shut up about wanting PS1 games for the PSN, because perhaps Sony could afford those exclusives if not for their asinine policy aimed toward being a poor embarassment.
SCEA, release more PS1 games! You own Intelligent Qube—release it! It’s not as fun playing it on my computer with a 360 controller.

To start off this comment is off topic, but I have been a sony fan since playstation uno and I have always felt that ps has been the ideal gaming system but sadly enough my opinion is turning ps was the system for gamers and now it has turned from being the most popular system to the least falling behind the wii and xbox for every 5 playable games that ps puts out now xbox has 15 there is nothing that is just for ps fans anymore while xbox holds the bar with exclusive games for their fans ps fans watch with angry and confusion as xbox gamers are allowed to play the once ps only games and we still have no access to xbox exclusives my faith in sony ps has been destroyed by sony itself from devil may cry to FFXIII ther is no reason why you should put faith in sony’s Playstation anymore when you can play the same games on a cheaper console and also play GOOD games that aren’t even avaiable for PS Blue-ray is not enough anymore Sony has turned its back on its playstatin fans and it shows I am personally on the verge of trading in my playstation for xbox360 at least then games will be recieved in a timely manner and not a year after release and i will still be able to enjoy playstation titles on the xbox360 the time has passed for excuses SNOY has let me down as being one you own’s the 60gb version if you cant back up your console take the same option sega did and give up and stick to making games for microsoft…please show more support and bring in more games than you are giving away to xbox I love PS but I dont know for how much longer GET IT TOGETHER

Am I the only one who doesn’t give a sh*t about FFVII remake? I play the original on the PS3, why do I need a remake? For better graphics? I want a “new” game.
I know it seems pretty bad now, but Sony will have something big tomorrow and besides, you still get to play FF13 on your PS3 right ? So, just relax, if the only reason you bought a PS3 is for FF13 you are truly one sad gamer so please go jump ship and buy yourself that other unreliable machine from the other company and go be happy again.

At E3 2006, Square-Enix announce that “…takes full advantage of the PlayStation 3 system’s advanced hardware…”. So, how can both versions be the same? The Crapbox can’t handle a game made to the PS3’s full spec!!! They are dumbing down the game because of this, I just KNOW it!!!
STOP LOOKING FOR SONY FOR ANSWERS! Look inside, you want to know why everyone is jumping ship, yet it seems all that arent getting what they want is jumping with the publishers, and creaters of games. Grow a back bone, stop being sheeps, give Sony some breathing room, maybe then they can get down to work on giving us what we want. They all ready gave us the best system, now let them work on giving us the best games.
I’m sorry but Sony is pretty much done. Tomorrow we can expect them to show the same games they showed last year since everything got delayed anyway.
Then they will show their “artsy” PSN games which are a complete joke, especially when Microsoft show stuff like Geometry Wars and Galaga.
And to top it all off, they will show off Home, a service which like 10 people will actually use. What a joke. Where are the RPGs Sony? I’ve been asking for them for a whole year and never got a response.
lol you might be, everyone cares about ff7 remake. a legit one not a sh*t one. yes you can play ff7 via psone disc and probably later on psn downloads. but the graphics fail so hard on a hdtv…seriously unless u still have a CRT it looks like crap. cant’ see anything
I have a Sony (uhu) Bravia LCD TV and works fine on 480p, make that 576p.
