As has been reported on many gaming blogs and websites, we have temporarily taken Firmware v2.40 offline. We’ve received a limited number of calls from consumers experiencing an issue with installing the system software update on their PS3. While our consumer services department has seen a low volume of calls on this topic, we are committed to providing the PS3 community with XMB access features delivered in the v2.40 update. We are working diligently to isolate the problem for those few consumers and to identify a solution before we put the firmware back up.
We’ll provide further information as necessary here on the Blog.
I’ve had TVersity since about January of this year and all is working fine.
The new release put up this week is even better.
Seems to have gotten some of the previous bugs out from before.
It’s a great piece of free software for your PS3 (even XBOX, WII, etc).

One reason I got TVersity was for the Internet Radio and that works just fine…especially hooked up to your home theater system.
The people over there are doing this for free and have donations you can give as well.
I’ve used it a bit and I did give $20 as a donation, but a really small amount of money for a great piece of software !

this is bull my ps3 was working fine i got the update and everything statred crashing first went my bluetooth then my wifi then my direct line went now my ps3 turns on then freezes after only 1 min this update has screwed me over royaly i cant do crap on the ps3 i spent $600 on it and cant even play it. 80 gigs for nothing.
Yeah. Been some lively debates this weekend. It’s been good. I’m sure tomorrow all this will get straightened out. It’s a shame. They can do better. I know I’ve had fun getn into some lively arguments with some folks, no harm intended. Everyone has an opinion and that’s what we’re here for.

Yeah, wasn’t too damn bad, I enjoyed kickin’ it about w/ everyone….even you shogun34 (no harm taken)! I definitely have met some pretty cool ppl here and gained some ‘friends’, too (my PSN is QueenB82, anybody wants it). ;)
Hopefully, things will come out a lot more better going into Monday and we all can find out some details. I suppose deep down that’s what we all really want, no matter your view.
my ps3 has been freezing a lot since the update. im not too happy about this and i hope theyre working on a patch for us who did succesfully install the new update.
Here’s a minor update for Sony….
2.40 streamline all the downloadable games and content like Qore under an icon on the PS3.
Now that I’m adding a bunch of people to my friends list, can we get an icon that holds all the friends just like the games and subsciptions ?

Especially you ganja Queen. Sorry if I got a tad mouthy yesterday. It’s just been a frustrating weekend. Kinda funny too when you think about it. I did manage to get it last night and luckily it’s working fine. So yeah, i apologize to anyone I ticked off and hopefully I made some new friends in the process.
Hearing about freezing on some people’s machines…I haven’t seen it yet and hope I don’t.
Just wondering if it may not be your internet connection, or maybe as this is a busy week for the PS3…the servers are taking a huge hit more than they did before.

@ 2011 i will turn on my ps3 and the dpad and the buttons will not work on my controller but the ps button still works so all i can do is turn off the system. this happened 3 times today.

If so, maybe send Sony and email. They’ll look at it on regular business days and can assist with a fix maybe.
They’re pretty good…a while back I had a problem with one of my downloadable games (getting charged twice) and I wrote in and Sony fixed everything.
It took about 2 wks, but all is ok now.
This company does hear you people…just there are many of us.

The PS3 is an awesome heater. I don’t even need my radiator on when I’m using it hahaha. I’m looking forward to trophies. Just playing lots of GTA right now. Getting MGS4 for my bday though in a few weeks. I want it now :S

I understand it can be frustrating not know what the hell is going…especially if you’re a person that went through w/ the update and your s*** starts messing–that’s a frightening thing. Hell, I had one of my few scares when my picture went out, (but I could hear sound) and it damn near gave me a heart attack (until I found a solution online and got it back right); so I know what’s it like to get a PS3 fright.
I guess what p*ssed me off about some posters was not the ones that truly DLed the update and was having issues and speaking on it; but those that didn’t even have it and were whining to Sony about when they where gonna put it back up. I was just soo fed up w/ those fools b/c it’s like you’re clogging up the damn blog for nonsense–when there are real people with heartfelt issue getting lost in sauce of these whinners.
My momz always taught me growing up, you can’t miss what you never had….that’s basically the jist of my comments yesterday (not to you or anything) but to all the lame whinners out there complaining about not getting a update–when there are individuals who did and are really catching hell w/! It’s like, who’s gonna see they’re pleads for help, when there’s a 1000+ posters screaming ‘I WANT MY 2.40 NOW, SONY’ rants….agh, that’s just what I couldn’t take.
I luckily was at work while the patch went up and was honestly dissapointed when i returned home but now from all the reports im hearing im releived to say the least,I would just like to know that if anyones system was truly bricked due to this update what is sony going to do to compensate these ppl being how its a mandatory update and no fault of there own if my playstation was ruined due to this update i would expect a free refurb or a new system i heard that sony was requiring 150 dollars to fix a mistake that they made if its true ridiculous if not then im just curious if they will fix the systems free of charge or not.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing–sounds like it’s an issue w/ the controller, possibly a short or something. Doesn’t sound like that would be an issue w/ the system per se.

Not sure if anyone here follows DLTV…but I’ve added that onto TVersity and it runs just fine downloaded to PS3 and I watch it on the bigscreen.

@2030 Yeah, checked it out, no version for the Mac yet, says they’re working on one. I use Media Link, it’s been working pretty well for me. It’s from the same co. that makes connect 360. I need to get apple tv.

This one is great..has everything pretty much Media center has.
There’s also another site, viewmy.tv that has internet TV from all over the world and you can click on the ones you want at viewmy.tv and it will add them onto TVersity.
Many many good features in this software.
Orginally got it for the Internet Radio feature but all the other features make it a must have for PS3 owners.

any problem truly related to the update can be fixed by reformatting the HDD. No one’s console really “bricked” as they all can be fixed relatively simply. Anyone that does have the issue can either do it themselves or send it to sony to fix. From what I’ve seen around the web, it sounds like Sony’s fixing it for free.

@ 2021 its not the controller when it freezes i can see the little loading icon on the top right corner is not moving and my controllers are charged.

@2037 i was going to buy sshd but i’ve read they took down the updated one with trophy support with 2.40 so i’m patiently waiting… read uncharted will get trophy’s so i’m excited for that as well
