  • Solid update. Thanks!

  • update … don’t install R-Types unless you have all USB stuff (Rock Band controllers) un-plugged from your PS3. Apparently it causes some kind of error where the player 1 slot on this game becomes non-functional. A re-download and re-install fixes that if you have all the USB controllers out.

  • Pretty good update. More PS1 games please?

  • So much content with very slow download times. It takes me 20 seconds to download a theme on PSN but on LIVE last night i downloaded a 600MB demo in 12 minutes and didn’t have to install it.

  • @52

Rockband stuff tends to mess up other games too. I have noticed this with PJM. So I just always unplug the stuff when I I want to play other games.

  • wow, this is probably the best update in recent memory. nice job, sony!

  • What an update! Man, I knew today was gonna be good…There’s also going to be the Burnout Paradise update today! I’m gonna be up late tonight… :D

  • It still cost 1$ more for each item if you’re from Canada!!!

Are you ever gonna take notice that both dollars are equal???

  • Alright I know this has been said before but i must mention it as well. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH CANADIAN PRICING!!! Why when our dollar is so close to the American dollar are we still being charged a dollar extra for every piece of content on the store? This does not make sense and is not a fair pricing strategy somebody please look into this.

  • ps3mods.blogspot.com

Why doesn’t the “NEW RELEASES” cover the new VIDEO releases?

    • To keep things grouped together easier, we\’ve added a new category for all new Videos.
Go to \”VIDEOS\” and click on \”New Game Videos\” to see all of the latest game videos added to the Store.
Hope this helps you to find what you\’re looking for!

  • Glad to see the COD4 map pack is available.

  • WHEN ARE RESIDENT EVIL 1 & 2 GOING TO BE AVAILABLE ON PSN. JAPAN HAS THEM ALREADY. WHY NOT US?

  • Can you guys start posting Rock Band content on Tuesday? I don’t mind waiting for Sony content, but it sucks that 360 gamers get the Harmonix content before we do.

  • Is Sony planning to let us play PSP games on the PS3 that we download? Since I don’t have a PSP I would like to be able to play the downloadable games like Kingdom of Paradise…is this possible? I mean I see PS1 games formatted for both PS3 and PSP…or does the PS3 lack the hardware needed for PSP games?

  • To Sony.

I don’t comment much on here. I like how you are finally updating your store with good product. But as someone who DOESN’T play:

    Racing

    Shooting

    GTA Type games

Where are OUR games? I know there are more like me. Home at some point? Great. XMB? Great too. But there are people like myself that don’t play the games above alot. When I say OUR games, I mean RPGS. You guys have NOTHING but Oblivion so far. Nothing! And you don’t even have any classic PS1 rpgs either. Japan has a few. When is it “our” turn? Or am I doomed to play Gauntlet 2 forever?

    • RPGs are seldom found on a console at the start of its lifecycle due to the time it takes to make, translate, and then localize them for each region.
If you\’ve already beaten Oblivion (!), there\’s the Shivering Isles expansion pack available on the Store which adds about another 30+ hours to the game.
As for PSone Classics, currently, Wild Arms 1 is available to purchase and play on the PS3 and the PSP.
There are a lot of RPGs in development (the Final Fantasy XIII\’s and WhiteKnightStory come to mind immediately), so, even though this is everyone\’s least favourite phrase, hang tight – they\’re coming!
Hope this helps you to find something more up your alley!

  • Great update! Just wondering why we cant get things like rock band add ons and demos when they are available to others on tuesday. Then have your regular updates on thursday with themes, videos, and PSN games. We always get firmware and other game updates when they are ready on other days. Thanks for listening.

  • We do have Wild Arms which I am still enjoying…plus Enchanted Arms which is a PS3 game.

BUT what makes me mad is that the Hong Kong store has a bunch of cool PS1 rpgs but they’re in Japanese, I would LOVE to get those in English

  • Is there a reason why Loco Roco is $21.99?

  • Wow, this is a jam packed week of downloads. Overload!!!

  • Wowzers!

Sony really took last week’s complaints to heart..

I kept scrolling down and scrolling and the update won’t end…lol

    Nice update :)

    but:

I would like to know what efforts Sony are doing to support International Customers on the Playstation Store/Network..

What I mean is that foreign credit cards, namely that of the Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago), do not work on the Playstation Store due to our Billing Addresses being not accepted.
1000’s of users like myself have to register for US/Canadian Accounts with our relatives addresses, yet we can’t purchase from the store..

    The Playstation Network Cards
Will they be cross-currency capable? That is, since I have a CA account, and I order the card down from the US, will I be able to use that same card on the Canadian store and pay the Canadian Price?

When will I be able to change my country of residence from Canada to the United States to get lower prices on the store in my Account on the Playstation Network?

These are questions that need to be addressed…. Sony don’t leave a Giant market in Latin America in the dark…
We want to BUY from the store but CAN’T…

The last thing I want to hear is “We are not licensed to distribute in that region..blablabla..”

    • We always take everything to heart that we read here: the good, the constructively critical, and, yes, even the flaming rants and raves.

Some weeks will be better than others, and that\’s just the nature of the industry – some times of the year are more content heavy than others.

As for your question about region, I can\’t answer it as it\’s not something I am involved with, but I\’ll pass on your concerns.

  • Nice to see LocoRoco has gone downloadable. Woot!

  • 14.99 for the Eye of Judgment Set 2 content? Is it just me or is that a little over kill? I’ve already got to put down 4 bucks a pack for the cards…

Just buying a theme deck or 3 packs of cards is more expensive than the Call of Duty 4 map pack. That’s an understandable price and a worthy expense for my hard earned dollars, but to charge 15 dollars on top of that just so I can use the cards, that really feels like a pretty inconsiderate move, I hate to admit. I absolutely love Eye of Judgment, but why so expensive just to simply enable the usage of the new cards that I’ve already spent my money on?

Furthermore, what’s up with the 118 kb file size? How could a 15 dollar download be so tiny?

I really hope I get a response that’ll justify this, because if not I’m just going to have to sell the cards second-hand and stick with Set 1.

    • Since this is a blog post about the Store update, you might have better luck addressing your question in one of the EoJ blog post threads.
      Hope this helps!

  • this is a great update more for the demo but what the hell : R-Types (PSone Classic) when the europe receive the great and soooo nice command and conquer ????????????????? please guys do something for the psone games :(

  • @ Snoopytimes

    It’s the full PSP game

  • Hey guys! Will download Echochrome ASAP

R-Type: awesome for people who love scrolling shooters (I, unfortunately, suck at them)—but please, PLEASE PUHLEEEEEEEEEZE KEEP THE PSONE GAMES COMING!

Legend of Dragoon would be awesome wink wink hehe!

  • Im in Canada and would also like to know when pricing will change for the Store. This seriously makes me reconsider buying stuff since I feel Im getting the shaft-o-la. Give us some feed back please, will it change?

  • Great update, any chance on getting some new PSN Avatars? My pinecone is getting kinda old.

    • 10 new avatars from Assassin\’s Creed, Haze, Crash Bandicoot, and others have been added this week.
You can change / update your avatar under ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
      No more pinecone for you!

  • They’re probably saving the Final Fantasy PS classics for the FFXIII release.

  • Dear Sony

I been a supporter for playstation since the very beginning, i love my playstation until now, the current generation. I am the owner of PS3, Wii, Xbox360, PSP and DS. But i don’t know why, i started to feel a bit dis hearted. This is a great update no doubt, but i don’t understand where is all the RPG games that once used to be te trademark for PSone and PS2 ? Playstation used to have so many great collection of libary for noe just FPS or 3rd person shooting, the reason playstation was great in oversea (Asian market) Because a huge RPG collections. Since launch, beside Oblivion, Enchanted Arm, then there is nothing….:-(
What happen to all the great series backin PS or PS2 time, Wild Arm, ROuge Galaxy, .Hack, our very own Arc the Lad and many more? Not everybody like FPS (That has been overkilled) there are far too many of them out there.
Sorry if i upset anybody here, but i just don’t wanna keep on waiting for FF series…….that’s all…..Keep up with the good job, but pls give us more variety of games. Regards

    • Please see my previous comment about RPGs and the variety of this week\’s Store update.
Keep in mind that most of those great RPGs you mentioned came out around the middle-to-late parts of the PSone and PS2 lifecycles.
Good news is, if you\’re like me (one of my favourite PS2 RPGs was Rogue Galaxy), you\’ll be happy to know that the developer, Level5, is hard at work on a new project. If you can\’t wait that long, check out their beautiful Strategy-RPG Jeanne D\’Arc for the PSP.
      Hope this helps!

  • How nice, however…… How about giving us some news or an update on what PlayTV could be like here in North America …OR… more on movie / TV downloads …OR… in what century HOME will be released.

Giving us movie trailer and wallpaper downloads is a waste of bandwidth on our part !

    • All content on the Store is optional, so please don\’t worry about wasting bandwidth downloading content you don\’t want.
      We won\’t be offended – honest! ;)

  • Brill update ;) Would love some old-skool games one day on PSN like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Dig-Dug, Pong, Scramble (Original versions)etc etc… ;-P

  • Will the US be getting the Siren demo?

  • Yay Call of Duty 4 map packs!!! I felt left behind my 360-fanboy friends for a while there. btw there’s a typo where it says “Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore sownloadable songs ($1.49 each)”. I think you guys meant “downloadable” lol. Great update. I can’t wait for the full version of Echochrome–been waiting for it ever since I heard about it at E3. If only there were a way to download content from the Japanese PlayStation Store, I would already have the full version for PS3 and PSP, I mean if I had a Japanese account, which I don’t. However, I am a little discouraged by the $15 for the Eye of Judgment update. I’ll still buy it, but I’m sure there are some people out there hesitant to buy it for such a relatively high price. The game itself was $70, plus all the cards I bought, just to get all the new ones costs a lot. Fine by me, but I hope it doesn’t mean others won’t get it. Alas, this was truly a great update, although some people will never be satisfied. Still waiting for Home and in-game XMB by the way!

  • OHHOHOHOHOHO MAN!!! I love R-TYPE!

  • question…can we customize our PSN avatars? can we use any image we like? or do we have to use one of the ones they have in the profile management section?

  • Great update! Resistance trailer on my TV looks awesome, 1 thing tho can you put some screens of “R Types” in the description in the store? (i dont know what is it really) Oh and will we get command and conquer like one the European store? Thanks
    Good Job!

  • Go figure, Sony releases a great update to the store to silence the people crying like small children about not getting enough content. Yet people still complain. Just shut up and be thankful that you even have a PS3 to play these demo’s and games on.

    BTW great update!

    • \”You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can\’t please all of the people all of the time.\”

Thanks for the support and we look forward to being able to continue to please some of the people some of the time in the future. :)

  • To Above, There are people with agenda’s here, and then people who offer constructive feedback, It’s pretty easy to weed out who’s who :)

  • Nice update

  • @ canadian gamers

I feel your pain, but Sony said they will be adjusting the pricing.
    https://blog.playstation.com/2008/04/15/inside-playstation-network/comment-page-1/#comment-54856
(they didn’t say when, but at least they’ll they will be doing it.

OT: Wow, awesome update. That is huge.

  • reat update, keep them coming!

  • -Insert usual Canadian price complaint here-

Though I have an actual question.
Is that Locoroco for PS3 or just something to download on PS3 and then transfer to PSP. It isn’t clear. The games in the Hong Kong store are clearly labeled when they’re only for PSP,this says nothing. It just says PSP game but is it one that can be played on the PS3 or do I need a PSP to play it?

    • All PSP Games and PSP Demos are labelled on the bottom of their thumbnail.

Any game with a \”PSP Game\” tag means that it\’s a game for just the PSP.
Any demo with a \”PSP Demo\” tag means that it\’s a demo for just the PSP.

The only titles that are playable on BOTH the PS3 AND the PSP are the PSone Classics, although there are some titles that will be available for both systems (Go!Puzzle, echochrome, flOw, etc.)

The PSP Games and PSP Demos are in the PS3 Store for people who either don\’t have an accessible PC or for those who want to do everything from just one Store.
Hope this helps clear up some of the confusion!

  • Can SONY speak with EIDOS and put the first Tomb Raider avaiable to PSP on PS Store?

  • @50
hey man home has been pushed back, the public ( open) beta will run in the fall of 2008.
On the note of the update good job Sony lots of content keep it up!

  • Any idea when PSN cards are going to make their way to North America? I’d be all over this content (I NEED to get those COD 4 Maps) but can’t sign up for a credit card! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!

  • Grace, thank you very much for giving us the demos for both Iron Man and echochrome. I feel that it is especially important during this downturn in the US economy to have the ability to play a demo of a game before paying anywhere from $40 to $60 dollars of hard-earned money.
When will we see a demo of Unreal Tournament 3? I know for a fact that a demo of this game is available
    for the PC.

I would also like to advise you of a problem with missing downloadable content on the Playstation Store
for Wipeout Pure. There are 8 game packages listed on the official website for this game at
http://www.wipeoutpure.com/. You will see 8 different downloadable game packages when you click
“PSP Downloads” then “Game Packages”. A damaged version of the Playstation Store website opens
when you click “Download” on any one of these game packages. Restoring these game packages to the
Playstation Store can only encourage more people to purchase Wipeout Pure.

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication, Grace!

  • @87 Trust me you need to check out xbox360 forum site. If you think we are complaining its only because we love Sony and want the PS3 to put playstation back on the throne.

This week is a great update. Echochrome brilliant!. COD4 map pack loving it. Next week is another big week with GTAIV release. I hope that Sony puts out major adds for the PS3.

  • Finally,COD4 map pack is out.I can now live my life to its fullest.

  • thatsmartguywiththefro

Any reason why the videos, and themes/wallpapers aren’t displayed under Newest Releases? Since they weren’t there I just assumed they were non existent until I popped by the blog to see the posting.

Now that I know, its not that big of a deal, but I was wondering what the reasoning was behind this organization.

Also, did the interface get changed at all? Because I swear I didn’t notice the “By Year” Sorting option before…

    • Someone has a keen eye.
Yes, the \”By Year\” sorting groups is a new way of going back and looking at some of the games you might have missed, based on their release date. We\’re constantly trying to make it easier to find ways for you to find what you\’re looking for, and this is one of them.

      \”Newest Videos\” and \”Newest Themes / Wallpapers\” have their own sections.
Click on the Category Tab (left hand side of the home page) for what you\’re looking for and you should see a thumb to take you to the latest bunch of this content.
Hope this helps you find what you\’re looking for!

  • @95

I could not agree more I love my Xbox360 but man those snobs on the Xbox boards are mean, nasty and full of whining smack tards.

At least here you get people whineing about real issues, not the RROD crap that the media has spun so fare out of spectrum it’s not even funny. IE only one xbox360 in every 60000 shiped world wides RROD according to Microsoft and that means the fail rate is less then 2% tops.

At least here when a PS3 fails one person dose not make 50 plus posts about it under 21 names to make it seem bigger then it is.

Plus people ask Sony for features and Sony gives them to us, not like on the Xbox boards where gamers rant about bad gameplay, or bad games instead of asking nicly for better software.

IMHO we should all be nice to developers both hardware, and software alike and they would be way more inclined to give us what we ask for.
