  • I rated the post a 3, why because even though the content is terrible, I know what’s on it, and don’t even have to log into the PSN. So thank you for saving me time.

For the Rockband and GH3 complainers. EA makes the DLC for Rockband and Activision for GH3. So complain to them, not to Sony who only provides the ability to get it to you in PSN.

I was going to say that maybe the PS1 titles are taking a long time due to copy rights, but other companies are able to bring classic games back, so why can’t Sony?

Lastly, the the posted about final Fantasy 1,2,3,4,5,6 were all NOT on a Playstation system. However you can buy a remake of 1 and 2 for the PSN on UMD. FF7 was the first FF on a Playstation Platform (not counting redeux).

  • @ Daver

No offence, but ive been told to be patient for about a year now. Promised the earth, and yet little has been delivered. You’ll forgive me for wanting to see at least one of Sonys countless promises come to fruition.

  • Comment #108 by elmonstro is perhaps the only comment with any intelligence or reason in this whole article. There are some others, but that one is a standout.

Seriously. You all need to settle down. Why are you all so darn negative? Sony gives you stuff (a lot of it for free) and yet you still complain? Wow, what a bunch of ungrateful people we have on this blog. It’s fine to be disappointed about it, but there’s no need to act like some spoiled immature brat like some of the commenters I’ve seen on this and past store update articles.

To Grace, Jeff, and the rest of the PS.Blog team: I’m so sorry you have to put up with this junk on your blog and thanks for all the hard work you do.

  • cool update, not much but, finally tried out a guitar game, guitar hero 3, pretty fun i must say though it cramps fingers, i havent cramped up in yrs. pain is pretty fun wheni’m not in the gamin’ mood, it is funny in a way so glad to see dlc for it. Plz try to atleast get a demo or game out weekly to shut ppl up in here, it’s so annoying how people don’t take risks on games anymore

  • @147

Are you serious, this should get below 0 the content is that bad, its sickening, its like this almost every week, there’s no excuse for that, luckily its not up to me because this would be in negative integers.

    @150

I agree, Jeff seems to be the only one that response to comments at, all positive and negative, and even those are limited. We definitely should have someone here willing to speak upon these subject, because the merely look of the store is just demoralizing right now.

  • I think that I may have an answer to why the Japanese Playstation Store has more PS1 games than the United States PSN. I emailed Capcom and asked them why Japanese PSN has Resident Evil 1 & 2 and Dino Crisis. Capcom emailed me back and said that Sony of America chooses what PS1 games go on the US PSN. If this is true then Sony should have no problems getting third party PS1 games on PSN. Sony of Japan wanted Resident Evil on their PSN so Capcom gave it to them. It makes me upset that Japan gets a much better selection of PS1 games than us and more content. Why can’t Sony bring those games over here? Every week PSN gets my hopes up just to be brought down.

  • At least Sony’s consistent. If you don’t have Pain, Rock Band or GH, most of these updates don’t offer much. Compared to their asian counterparts, SCEA comes out looking lazy, barely breaking 20 PS1 games while Hong Kong’s got over 100. How can they possibly meet the forecasted amount of PS1 games released at this rate? People on the forums keep assuming we’re going to get games like Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid eventually but looking at the current selection, I’m doubtful. SCEA is going with easy titles to get on the network, requiring the smallest amount of effort which is the last thing I expected from the company when the announcement to bring the classics to the PSN was made. They had said something like 96 or 98% of the library would become available with 8-10 games a month for download and I’m surprised when a week goes by that we actually get a PS1 game when it should be the other way around.

  • you people are relentless and probably know nothing about business. take it easy on these people (at sony). Even though it may not seem like it, I bet they work very hard for you every week to even have all this content. I can’t believe I call myself an American. Just look at what the European store got…2 videos and that’s it. AND LOOK WHAT WE GOT!!! You should be happy…but that isn’t the American way is it now?

I’ll admit this wasn’t the best update ever, but who cares really. Go play a video game like you’re suppose to. Try having some fun everyonce and awhile. And stop complaining when you don’t get anything for free.

Sorry if this is off-topic to the post. That NIN pack did bring back a lot of memories and good call on getting that no doubt pack up at the last minute. I didn’t find out about it until today.

  • And it’s yet another week that you can’t get the Rock Band content out on time. What, are you only paying people 1 day a week over there?

Xbox players get it Tuesday. We get it Thursday. Why should I buy my games for your system when they treat me better, again?

  • Maybe somebody already said this, maybe not, but I think that a single unified PlayStation Store would be a much better idea than having separate ones for different areas. This larger store would be available to everyone so there’d be no whining about why one store has something when the others don’t. I heard Sony is doing some sort of update to the look of the store in the future and think bringing all of them together would be better than just upgrading the interface.

Something else they could do is release updates less frequently. That would stop us getting false hope that every Thursday will be super awesome and mean they wouldn’t waste our time with tiny things like themes and small addons for games. Those are good n all, but if they had more time between updates it’d mean they could include much more content alongside those like new demos and addons every time round.

    Meh, just some thoughts.

  • @ 159

Are you serious, Go play a video game? What do you think I’m trying to do, if Sony puts out the content, I can go do that.

  • Hey I would like to make request. For the next Rock Band/ GH3 would you please make a seprate IN GAME store?

This stuff isnt making the PSN any more varied. Maybe more profit, but please relize how imbalenced download content is.

    Clue: RPGs!

  • @PSPMAN

I understand what you’re trying to say, but is there something that’s suppose to be there that isn’t? Did Sony promise you something and then didn’t give it to you? Only complaint that I could muster is flow on the psp. It was originally suppose to be released on the 21st of this month, but it’s been switched to next week…no big deal.

    My rockband content is there.

If I’m not mistaken they even went back and added Pain content last week after the update on Thursday.

And you can go to a store and buy a video game as well. You don’t have to buy anything on the store. Also there is something called getting up, opening a case, and putting a disc inside the ps3… :O !! Last time I checked, that’s how you play a game. Your welcome!

  • Sony, this update is horrible. I mean, most of the fluff comes from boring trailers. There’s nothing that’s even playable.

  • Was wondering when GH3 gonna release more songs, while Rock Band been releasing add-on songs like crazy. Need more of these type of good songs ^_^

Personally I would like to see more stuff from sony on what else they can do with the PS3 eye, would be cool to see if they can do anything to the actual person being captured on the cam – cool wigs, eye brow, change real person into toon looking character with motion detection type of thing.

No complaints on the update (^_^) /

  • No wonder Xbox Live is better..
i dont want sbox to win but sony…………

  • Profound disappointment… I would like to say more, but I don’t know how to say it. Sony doesn’t seem to look ok care about our comments.

Is there anyway to disable the PS Store??? So I won’t be tempted anymore with an early Christmas morning urge to go get a look every Thursdays and getting disappointed ALMOST (I’m kind now) every time?

Sorry Daver, I broke (well, I didn’t whine too much :) ) my promess.

  • will we ever get PS2 games via psn. psone is outdated in my opinion. Of all the sh*tty updates, this by far is the most insulting. I heard some german guy found a way to upscale all his PS3 games to 1080p. please tell me it’s true.

  • oops sorry: “… doesn’t seem to look OR care about…”

  • What is so hard for you apologists to understand? We paid 500 dollars for a machine that is supposed to have a competitive store. The “free” store was supposed to be part of a compelling package to make us choose this console over others. Sony has completely shafted their customers on a constant basis. They keep us in the dark as to when content is coming out so that we are disappointed every week it doesn’t come. A prime example is Wipeout HD. It’s supposed to release “early 2008.” What does that even mean? Obviously Sony has some idea of what month it will be ready but they don’t let us know. This is a ridiculous system.

And I’m not complaining because there are no demos. I don’t care about crappy demos so much as I care about the fact that there is a TON of cheap-to-create and free to distribute content Sony could put on the PSN store that they don’t. For instance, they just had the Game Developer’s Conference. How easy would it have been to film some video of upcoming projects and a speech by Phil Harrison and put that up on PSN for the Playstation audience? Even worse, there have been a ton of videos released on gaming sites this week (such as a new wipeout HD trailer), yet do we see these vids on the PSN? No. WTF?

If they are going to stick to this once-a-week update model, the least they could do is release a decent amount of content that is desirable to EVERYONE- not just Rock Band/GH fanatics.

As for all of you who say “go play a game lol111,” I would if Sony would release PS1 classics or new downloads for me to buy! And there ARE no other AAA titles released at retail for this system worth buying since Devil May Cry 4. So some of us would like some NEW content to buy while we wait and wait and wait until JUNE! for big titles. F*^&(*( ridiculous SCEA. If you aren’t going to change your system, at least be more open about what the heck you’re doing and planning. When is content expected, what is the release schedule, what news from recent gaming conferences etc. You need a PR person on this full-time because one only need to look through the comments in the forums to see how much you are angering your customer base.

  • Why Sony. Why must you make me wish I had Xbox Live.

Another week, another bloody awful update. Might be time to catch up, yeah?

  • And to quote post #44,

“Impress all of us, I DARE YOU!!!!!!!”

Though I’d subtract a few exclamation points.

  • @Your mother.

Shut up. Shut up SHUT UP.

You are so naive it’s unbelievable. “Free store”? As in part of the “FREE ONLINE NETWORK”? I ask you to define your terms. Yeah, sure, it’s not as good as LIVE yet, but it’s definitely getting there. And at least your not paying $60 a year to hope you get some cool content. Deal with it! And WipeOut having an “early 2008” release date? Yeah, it’s called development scheduling. That’s the general time that they assume it will be done in accordance with the rate of development. They don’t give people like you a concrete release date because if they miss it, you would whine even louder!

And as far as GDC goes? Did you just not pay attention? Sony didn’t have a keynote! They chose to let their games speak for themselves without having the big dog and pony show that they had last year. And shut up about Phil, he doesn’t even work for Sony anymore. Or did you miss that too?

I know plenty of people, a couple of them are right beside me, we all own 360’s and PS3’s and yet we have no problem with Sony’s efforts so far. For all we care they get a “get out of jail free” card for this mediocre update because they surprised us all this week by giving real dates on MGS4 and DS3. So once again shut up!

If you want “triple-A” titles so bad, go back to the PS2 for the time being, and fill in the gaps where your blind soul missed some games for the time being. Nothing blockbuster has come out for the 360 in the last 2 months either. Don’t hate unless you can deal it to both sides, or at least give a reasonable comparison. Freak.

  • Hey i pre ordered mgs4 in janurary will i get in the beta and get the special disc or do i have to run to my eb and get them discs and beta code?

  • lol at the post’s rating…

anyways, I just hope that when things like Home and in-game XMB, and all those other much wanted and asked for features and games FINALLY come out, it is worth all the wait. And oh how we fans have waited.

I must say I am very satisfy with my PS3, and have more than enough games to keep me busy @ the moment, but man do I hate hearing about how great this and that will be or how much better that could be..

  • LMAO. My god that rating is low. It’s right on though. Sony, take notice that your lowest rated posts are your PS Store updates. Time to do something maybe?

  • wat?!
    no demos!!
    damn

  • No don’t rate it higher! Rate it lower! Down with the PS Store posts!!!! Let’s take this thing down to the lowest it can go!

  • Ok, this is another weak ass PS Store update!!!!!

I don’t have Rock Band and don’t plan on getting it so these updates are useless! Without the few tracks released for Rock Band they would not have an update. I should have just had just invested my money into my 360 cause all the games get better rating on Microsofts console anyway. I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE FUTURE OF GAMING! This is weak!

I would rate this (and the last couple updates) at 0 if I could!

At this point I refuse to buy any games (or spend my money on PS store junk like PAIN characters, for that matter) until I get a game that is rated higher than a 6 on any website!

What a waste of money to buy a PS3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1.03 rating out of 520 votes. I think that says quite a bit about the entire demographic. I can deal with bad PS Store updates once in awhile, but constant lack of content gets to be distressing. The other thing that really swings it is the utter lack of communication after the initial post. there is absolutely no response from Grace or anyone else to speak to our concerns. I hope the People that manage the store take heed to the general downward spiral of the attitude here and start to listen.

More importantly, Sony needs to respond to their base. All the Blog ends up being is one big commercial for PSN which needs some serious boosting to the download speeds anyhow. These files should not take as long as they do to download and they take half the time on my 5 year old laptop for a compareable file size.

If the Blog is just a commercial, or if Sony only wants us to pat them on the back for lackluster content, they should just disable the comments.

  • Dear Sony, you are not as good as you think! Bad updates, lame communication especially in Europe! Listen to us, listen what we say here. Don`t ignore our criticsm !
    Thank you!

  • Why did Europe get TWO TRAILERS?

this is taking the serious piss.

  • Still no reply from the Sony camp, typical…..why is there no content in the PSN???? Look at the rating for the thread, 530 people have voted and all 1 star, means – SUCKS. I i think this goes for the rest of the world who has a PS3.

  • Wow, horrible update! Losing faith…….is this the best SONY can do. LAME.

  • This is in no way a bad update, check out the euro store. Two game trailers! It seems we get electronically abused for another week. :( nevermind!

Ok, im done with that! Quick question, is there any plans for a euro blog? or plans to add euro info on here? thanks

  • @ CitizenInsane27-
This is a perfect example of a Sony apologist that wants us all to settle and be happy with this crappy service. Well guess what buddy, when you pay for a product and are dissatisfied because it sucks, you are entitled to voice your complaints with the company in the hope that they fix it. If no one complained about the PSN store, then Sony wouldn’t know how crappy it is. So maybe you should GROW UP.

And I didn’t say put Harrison’s keynote speech up on PSN did I? There wasn’t one, but there were several informal discussions that took place where he talked about upcoming projects. The fact that he resigned is completely irrelevant as it was an EXAMPLE of easy content Sony could put on PSN. You said yourself they wanted the games to do the talking, then why not let us see the games as well???

And I can’t go to PS2 games because my PS3 can’t play them smart guy. So no, Sony doesn’t get a free pass. When are you going to learn that people complain to Sony because they believe Sony could do better? One of the biggest drawbacks of the PS3 is that it’s online component is severely lacking. I make suggestions on how they could easily improve it for their customer base and you criticize me. You tell me to shut up, I say GROW UP.

And you know as well as I do that Sony doesn’t randomly release content onto the store at the last minute. They know bloody well what they are putting on the US store earlier in the week because the content has been submitted to them. My point is that if they just told people what the heck to expect as soon as they know, they wouldn’t be criticized for keeping their customers in the dark. Are you really saying that this would be a worse system than what they have now?

Just because you are complacent with a bad service doesn’t mean everyone else is.

  • Hi Sony team!

    Quick question:

Will the PSN game “Dark Mist” ever be released in the states? It looks great!

    http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/02/28/japanese-psn-game-dark-mist-gets-expansion-still-no-euro-versi/

  • @Jeff Rubenstein
I know this is a little off topic, but is there any word if and when the USA is going to get some of the neat PS accessories and services that the EU has? I’m thinking of the camera and the GPS accessories for the PSP and the GO! Messenger service or something comparable for video chat as well as the Play TV device for the PS3 with the electronic programming guide? Granted, I realize that the Play TV uses DVB-T tuners that would need to swapped out for ATSC, but is there any chance we could see something like this in the USA? Or even better, PS3 drivers for usb ATSC tv tuners that are already on the market?

  • ouch, even I’m disappointed in this update…its a damn good thing I love PAIN, but other than that…pretty big let down this week. Atleast MGS4 news and HOME news starting to be revealed more and more often is a plus.

Onto PS1 titles, any word on bringing Vigilante 8, Rogue Trip, Tecmo’s Deception Series to the PSN??? Cuz I know Twisted Metal is a big deal…but those 2 other vehicular combat games were just as great if not better in their own ways.

  • Is there any chance of a low-budget SDK being released along with a way for people to put games onto PSN for download/purchase. I’d love to develop some little games/apps for the ps3 that anyone could download.

It would be nice if I could even have my own little place in Home setup to show off my wares and take input from the community on how to improve them…

Any chance of something like that becoming a reality?

  • @191 would be fun if they did have/release a low-budget SDK for programmers to try and make video-games lots of people out there want a shot a game programming I’m sure ^_^ I would love to try myself.

Also would be cool even there is a ‘RPG Maker’ type of software which is pre-made map layouts, characters which is editable through the software or on PC and bunch of events to choose from, to make your story, game. After completion be able to send those games to your friends or have it available as download from HOME in your community or something like that.

  • @ Cobra Girl

Thank you, you understand. Like said I doubt it would be so bad if someone from Sony would even explain anything, however they don’t, they come on the Blog with these updates, post the contents, and thats it. Terrible updates that focus on one group of PSN Users, with no one even addressing the topic as to why this is, yet we see interviews like the John Hight Interview, and hear how he and Sony feels about the Playstation Store, saying things like “PSN isn’t about dumping the store with Content where the consumer will buy this or that”, that however is the very reason XBLA is better, because all of their content is focus on XBL Users as a whole, as opposed to one group as most of these updates are for PSN. In any case, I hope Sony will start to give EU and US PS Store choice much like the Japanese story has.

Thanks again for your post Cobra Girl :)

  • @CitizenInsane27 Free network? How do you figure?

PS3 cost $599 at launch, I call that network charge being build into the cost of the hardware. The machine got some features taken away so the cost went down to $499.

The network is not free it’s just bundled into the overall start up costs. That’s like saying you bought a new car and got a free tank of gas.

And for a “free” network they certainly aren’t interested in making any money by offering decide content to BUY. Free trailers make you happy? Forgo the cost of the PS3 and just go to YouTube, geezus.

  • You know what’s worse than the PSN updates? The PC store updates!! It’s the footnote of every update, and never even half of what the PSN gets. Half of the stuff doesn’t even get explanations like the PSN gets. Is that so much to ask for? I know they are explained on the PC store but why should I waste my time having to sign in when it’s stuff I wont even bother downloading. Even on the worst PSN update I wish the PC store gets half the things PSN gets. I don’t know what’s the purpose of writing this it’s not like anyone (that can change things) will respond or even read it.

One last thing the rating this update has gotten is not deserved, 1.09 is being way too nice.

  • I will no longer check ths psn store. It’s too revolting. I am finally back to playing my SNES. Thank you sony. You can’t even compete for my attention. I am a shareholder by the way. NBA LIVE 96 is better than NBA 08.

  • The announcement for a HOME release date with this Store update would’ve been so awesome. Too bad it didn’t happen. : (

  • @187 MonkeyPirate,

Man could you imagine if they made a EU PS Blog? They’d get thrashed ten times as bad with the way they release stuff over there.

  • @chacal 81 –

    — “I will no longer check ths psn store. It’s too revolting. I am finally back to playing my SNES. Thank you sony. You can’t even compete for my attention. I am a shareholder by the way. NBA LIVE 96 is better than NBA 08.” —
    ————————————————–

Dude that was the most lame comment i’ve seen on here in a long time. You’re a shareholder too, huh..? Yeah…..sure you are. Your comments do no good here at all.

@Gregero – An EU PS blog would be an excersise in masochism I believe. Don’t see it happening in toto like this one, but Three Speech doesn’t seem to be doing so bad.
    ———————————————-

Sony just release HOME to everyone and end the madness!

  • Just a quick question for you folks out there…
Why is content more expensive in Canada?
Pain Characters for example are .99 in USofA. On the Canadian store they are 1.49. Rock Band songs… 1.99 for US, 2.99 for Canada.

What is so different or required that pushes the prices up?
