  • …no 20th anniversary sale for EU, then?

  • BRITISH POUNDS PLEASE?

Anyways bought Super Stardust Ultra earlier for £4.99 and love that (have all the previous games including the Amiga original hehe) and the Resogun Season Pass (I didn’t even realise that game had DLC). I’ll have a look through the rest of the sales once I can understand what I would actually be paying…

  • Just a heads-up for anyone wanting to buy Sportsfriends, it has a known bug which causes a VRAM error on the PS3, which then hangs the system. This hasn’t been patched yet.

    • Thanks for the warning. I would have bought this otherwise.

      Any official news on this?

    • I haven’t seen an official reply anywhere, just a lot of complaints regarding the error. Looks like the game causes some form of memory leak. On restart, the PS3 wanted to do a file check for corruption, but luckily found no errors. In all my years of owning a PS3, this was the first (and currently last) time I’d ever seen that message. Deleted it instantly after that!

    • You must be lucky then, I have had the PS3 integrity scan many many times, its not really anything to worry about.

I have had the same thing on PS4 quite a lot too, as it keeps randomly locking up in standby and thus complaining that I turned it off without shutting down, which if course I didn’t. ;)

    • Indeed, the rest mode has a bug where the console refuses to turn back on, or fully turn off. Many people have reported the same thing, actually testing firmware features before release would help a lot. Sometimes you can hold the power for 10 seconds and turn the console off, otherwise you’re getting a scan which lasts a long time on a 2TB drive.

    • I just turn all of the rest mode features off including usb charging, my console either is on or off. It works.

    • goth lots error on ps3 games so lots of scans to
ps4 geting lots of freezes in some games buth then never need to put out fuly mi console by force ( so improvment + fast restart games )
ps4 needed a power off buton
      off = stil on

  • Still no GTAV discount on PS4, then?

    • lol! I stopped waiting. Even when I read ‘GTA’ on the title, I knew it was too good to be true.

    • Even if it does happen they’ll probably do it the same way they discount the PC version on Steam. That is, the price remains the same but with a $1mil Shark card slapped on it. I believe that’s what they usually call a dick move.

    • Grand Theft Auto does hold its price for the first couple of years. It cost a truckload of money to make. When you consider what you’re getting for your money and think about how many companies go to that much effort, plus you dont have to insert a disc, isnt it worth the extra £15?

    • Also dissapointed but hey witcher 3 was a nice surprise.

@clucknuggets. Ehh no i def not think its worth 15e Møre for not getting a physical copy its the other way around with a disc i could sell it or trade for another game the download got zero value after im done with the game.

    • That’s fair, we’re all different. I had to go without my PS4 for a week due to the drive dying. I’m pro-digital now. I want my games like they are on PC.

  • Another disappointing week for Vita users ,full of classics and digital , and only 1 real Vita game …
Also ,guys “Remember, to your PS4, PS3 or PS Vita then you can also buy through our online store.”…
if you’ve not got access ?!? Please use proper English

    • To be honest mate, I’d worry more about your own usage of commas and spaces, before you decide to yap about the English skills of another person.

    • What is this post lol?

    • I know there shouldn’t be a space before a comma, but at least my sentences are correct. This one is is something you’d expect from an uneducated “ghetto” style ‘Murican, instead from one whose job description is to post in English

    • To be fair Guardian isn’t being paid to post in proper English

    • Though I don’t see what’s wrong with the original post

    • A disapointing week? Are you kidding me? Midnight Club is almost a 1:1 copy of the console version, and looks great from what I’ve seen on my Vita and the GTA games can bring you hours of fun on the go. Also, Rayman 1 is still on sale, and even though it’s really hard, I’m loving it.

I’m a bit tired of seeing the same being on sale over and over though.

    • As I said before , there is only 1 real vita game. Digitals are digitals , only a couple of them are worth it , and most end up free on ps+. Classics are simply ports from older consoles. I own both a psp and a ps2 besides a Vita, so just having them digital on Vita is meaningless to me

  • Euros no Sterling, again!!!!!

  • Deal of the week! Witcher 3 now reduced to normal price!

  • Any chance that the Resogun-Soundtrack will ever be made available as a download for PS3 or PS Vita? It’s just plain annoying that you are forced to use a PS4 (which I don’t own (yet)) to get some stupid MP3s. :/

    • I’m fairly certain it’s available on certain sites i’m not going to name, because, you know. Or you can look on Youtube.

    • I know, but stupid me is a person that wants to own those OSTs in a “proper way”. Even if they would offer the soundtrack via other sites (Amazon, iTunes, etc.) it would be fine.

    • You can even find the same stuff you would obtain by downloading the soundtrack on PS4, you know. Same folder, thumbnails, MP3 files. That stuff has no DRM. Just get it and pretend you obtained it with a PS4 if you don’t want to wait, that thing is not coming to PS3 or Vita, it’s a miracle that we got a port of the game, without a single piece of DLC.

  • Oh great, Witcher 3 for a sweet price…no wait, it’s just the regular retail price now.
Well, at least I can pick up GTA5 for PS4 because of that Rockstar sale….oh wait, no it’s not bloody there.

  • Where is the discount The Witcher 3 Season Pass, standalone one? I already have disk, I need SP discount.
I think I’m not the only one

    • Highly unlikely when the additional content hasn’t even come out yet! Buying the season pass will probably be a saving on buying the DLC separately but I don’t think pricing has been announced for the expansions yet. The first one is due out next month I think then the next one in early 2016.

    • Actually Heart of Stone is £6.79 on pre-order. Not sure what that will be in Euros.

    • It’s kind of strange to expect a discount for content that has not even been released yet.

    • @Ivadell I don’t know, I mean it’s hardly any more strange than selling the expansion pass before the game has been released, never mind the content.

  • Oooh. GTAs for the Vita! Didn’t get them last time they were on sale because you couldn’t remap the right analogue, anyone know if that’s been fixed yet?

  • To anyone who hasn’t yet bought Witcher 3, while you’ll probably get a better price for a physical copy, if you prefer digital games (like me) then even at full price it was one of the best value games I’ve played. It’s full of content and little to none of it feels like filler, unlike many other similar types of games. Also, between the patches and DLC since launch they’ve made huge improvements to the user experience and added extra content on top of what was already a huge game, all for free. The paid DLC included with the expansion pass also promises a lot of extra content and I would be shocked if it isn’t of the same quality as the main game. It’s a shame the discount isn’t more substantial but regardless it’s a good time to take the plunge if you’re at all interested in open world RPGs.

Very disappointing that GTA V isn’t included in the Rockstar sale, by the way.

  • *on PS4 I meant.

  • Hi there, Chris, Fred or whoever is going to reply.

During the past weeks, i’ve tried to report a couple of issues with the Store and/or PSN, but as of today, nothing has changed, and no one replied. All attempts to contact the Customer Support brought to nothing except a truckload of

unprofessionality. Could you please take a look at it?

    1) One of the DLC for the PS3 title “Ridge Racer 7” doesn’t seem to work anymore. The content is named “Decal Set 13” or “Set13 Decal Ridge Racer™7” or “PAC-MAN Sticker Set” (there are 14 “Decal Sets” for this game, but the ones from 11

to 14 change their name in the Download List for whatever reason, not important anyway). Anyway, this “Decal Set 13” used to work, but now it doesn’t anymore. I can get it, i can download it, i can install it, but the game doesn’t seem

to see it. It’s like it’s not activated properly. It definitely used to work before. All other DLC for this game definitely works. Please take a look at it. The problem, again, is in the UK and all the other European versions of the

Store. And possibly worldwide, but please, take a look at it.

This is the content i’m talking about: https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/addons/ridge-racer7-decal-set-13/cid=JP0700-BLJS10001_00-PDECALSE13000013

    I’ve already tried everything, including:

    – Formatting the HDD and restoring everything
    – Deactivating/Reactivating the system
    – Using another account/profile (DLC is region-free)
    – Deleting the savegame (i wanted to restart the game from scratch anyway)
    – Redownloading the content and reinstalling the game

The problem is the file itself, it’s not recognized by the game. Even the size is wrong compared to other DLC of the same type. Again, it can be downloaded, it can be installed, it’s just not working in-game.

    CONTINUED…

  • Sorry for the comment being split in two and bad formatting. Anyway:

Again for Ridge Racer 7, several pieces of DLC have disappeared from purchase, from all the non-UK European Stores:

    – all 20 extra music tracks and the complete bundle with all of them (these have different bundles in the UK store, 4 with 5 tracks for each pack, while in the rest of the world, there are 21 downloads, 20 music tracks and a “complete bundle”)
    – Decal Sets 11, 12 to 14 (i have them but still… also they brought back only Set 13 but i reported the other DLC too)
    – the UFRA challenges from 8 to 25

Again, take a look at it if you can. And yes, i’ve already tried contacting both Bandai Namco and Sony support teams, to no avail. All i’m getting are automatic replies or just no replies at all.

And before you can say anything about “licensing” stuff: 1) none of the content is licensed AFAIK, as they’re all Namco properties 2) one of the missing DLC, previously listed above, was added after i reported it, so they can definitely be added back, there’s no point in removing, for example, the UFRA challenges from 8 to 25. It should be “all or nothing”, the rest of the world has all DLC, no exceptions.

Anyway, the highest priority should be the non-working Decal Set 13 DLC.

    2) Oh, just a tip for all the upcoming Blog entries like the Store Update posts: try to list EVERYTHING that gets released. Every single theme, every single avatar, every single demo, every single free content in general. I keep finding new content not listed here. Last time you completely omitted any form of DLC.

I hope you can take a look at all those issues/tips. I’ll keep posting this wall of text until i get a proper answer. It’s not like i’m asking for impossible things. Thank you in advance.

  • “Something for everyone in our latest round of digital discounts ”

There are times when I question myself what is the meaning of some words.

    What is something?
    Who is everyone?

Mainly because I see nothing worth buying… and it seems that I’m just a nobody.

  • I really don’t know why I bother coming to the blog on Wednesdays, I guess I am just an optimist and believe that one day we will see some good prices.

    Bf4 premium is a fair price, I guess…

    • Oh and please show the vita some love! Deals have been for indies only recently, plenty of JRPGs for you to get some discounts on!

    • At this point (two years into the game’s life) it would be a fair price if it was the entire bundle discounted (BF4 + Premium).

    • Well, they had the game and premium on sale for £23 or so not long back, so this is cheaper if you already own the game and just want premium.

  • Not much for me this week at all. Has anyone played Omega Quintet? Worth it?

    • Unless you don’t have anything to do with money.

      AVOID

Heath Hindman who lives in Japan and loves jRPGs couldn’t stand it. And that’s the only person I tend to trust when it comes to japanes games.

      http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2015/04/28/omega-quintet-review-fluff-ps4/#/slide/1

    • Thanks for the heads up. My go to guy for JRPGs is Colin Moriarty, we like the same types of games. Though you seem to have similar tastes to me, so I’ll add him to my list :)

    • I’m tempted by the combat, but everything outside of that just doesn’t float my boat!

    • @Frimo_online
I know how hard it is to find someone who write good reviews of japanese games.

Either there are those who will give too low score just because it is japanese games… or too high for exactly the same reasons. Both groups should be avoided.

Lately I’ve bought cheaply and platted Moe Chronicle because I heard some good things about that game… and man… it was disaster. I hoped for a game that would score 7-8/10… but frankly speaking it deserved something more of a 4-5/10

I was prepared for ecchi risky stuff (which I’m not the biggest fan though I even liked Criminal Girls and Agarest)… but to my suprise I found there nothing really arousing. One of the most juvenile game I’ve ever played. No plot, no good music, battle system was weak, dungeon crawling elements were so~so.

So yeah… I know exactly how hard it is to find good source of opinions about games. Bit shame that lately Heath Hindman is busy with his job and doesn’t write more reviews. But still… if he does. That those are 100% trustworthy.

    • Yes it’s worth it. I paid full price and it’s one of the best games of 2015.

  • I think this is a pretty decent sale tbh.

The Escapists and the Resogun Season Pass for me.

Will get The Warriors to play on my Vita as well since I never completed it on PS2 :)

    Thanks Chris!!!

    • Love The Warriors. Had it on PS2 and I have the PSP version (and have played it in 2 player using a Vita and a PSP linked via wi fi)

  • For me this is one of the best sales for ps vita . Was literaly waiting for vice city stories and resogun to come to sale . Great discount on both the titles.. thanks

  • I took out my GameCube and start playing Resident Evil 0.

  • If you used a logical or even just consistent approach to exchange rates it wouldn’t matter that you only post in one currency. But given even nasa couldn’t programme your conversion patterns I’d prefer seeing all relevant currencies in the region. Please.

    • Multiplying the Euro value by 0.8 seems to return a reasonably accurate measure, although only used it on a few. Alternatively clicking on the links takes you to the UK price.

    • Take your point on the links Tee, been a bit disappointed/baffled in the past when I’ve used a uniform exchange rate though, but thanks for the steer.

  • So disappointed, Rockstar discounts, but not GTA5 for PS4?? Also the sale price of the Witcher 3 is a joke.

  • Is the Battlefield Hardline Deluxe Edition the full game?

  • Please dont buy the digital edition of the Witcher 3. The game is amazing and should be purchased in physical form were there is lots of goodies like maps, stickers, a letter to fans. (+ its actually cheaper) It just shows how this developer is amazing and cares about gamers.

I do wish there was only the season pass on sale.

  • Hey Chris, is there any possibility we will see Drakengard 3’s dlcs (or/and the sisters complete pack) discounted? I loved that game and I would gladly play as the other sisters, but 30€ is too much for a 1.5 years old season pass… thanks :)

  • SCEE Is based in London, UK the UK prices should be included…. Talk about laziness!

  • Why cant the list just be put into a table, rather than having to scroll through lines upon line of text?

Also, this is a shockingly bad sale. How is it that the US gets the PS4 deals for the likes of Call of Duty, Darksiders, Dark Souls II, Diablo III, etc and we get Resogun, Super Stardust, Battlefield 4 shortcuts and whole host of PS2 throwbacks?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we subsidise the US store. Plain and simple. Until we start to see better deals and a fair currency conversion, I wont be making any purchases from this store.

  • Nothing catches my eye. It’s a shame this sale seems to celebrate the “AAA” hype machine rather than the diverse history of PlayStation titles from the past 21 years, but I suppose that’s the games industry for you.

I would like to mention the fact that the PSN is ridiculous. I tried to buy a new avatar because I was sick and tired of the miserable Ellie one (don’t get me wrong, I love TLoU). So I went onto the store on Vita and discovered to nobody’s surprise there’s no avatar section. So I tried searching for the word “avatar” and got a pittance of results. Then I decided to try the webstore and found loads of them. Particularly annoying that I found a whole bunch of Danganronpa avatars that can only be downloaded on PS3 – despite all three Danganronpa games being PS Vita exclusives! So I had to download it to my PS3, which needed a system update and then a software update for the store… I just wanted to change my avatar but I had to jump through hoops to get there. PS3 is particularly bad, but the fact I couldn’t just download the avatar on my Vita, or even PS4… O_O

  • I’ll just buy games from US Store from now on.

  • I have a problem with LA Noire (complete edition btw). When i complete the Traffic Desk it, says I need to download the Homicide Desk but it’s nowhere to be found. It is not in the in-game store nor the normal psn store. I have the feeling it is deleted from the store or something?

    • Have you checked your download list (not queue) on store.playstation.com?

    • Are you sure it’s not still downloading or something? The desks can’t be downloaded separately, if I remember correctly. the only thing that might be separate is the DLC, but even if the DLC isn’t installed you should be able to progress.

    • I resorted to buying the game again on disc after encountering the same issue four weeks ago.

Rockstar Support say it’s SCEE’s responsibility – PlayStation Support blame Rockstar. While neither Blog staff or Store management show any interest.

It’s disheartening to see the game still being sold in this state.

    • so if more then 1 persone goth same problem = demand a refunds
if them not want ride a leter to local peopel who are defending richts of the consumers .

if sony + rockstar are refusing to solve the mater them are selling broken stuf ( in lots of contry you have multypel jears of waranty !!!! ) broken game selling = criminality
nore sony ore rockstar are above the law .

    • One last thing you could try is check your Download List in the store. I recall there being an issue with Ni No Kuni where only some of the game files would download from the games’ store page while the rest would be sitting in your Download List for some reason and had to be selected from there. I haven’t seen that problem with any other game, but it’s worth a try.

    • I’ve had this issue since last week, I’ve contacted R* on their support forum and on Twitter and guess what? This issue has actually been going on for more than 6 months and I got the exact same message they’ve given everyone else whos suffering from this problem:

      Hello Castillo_82,

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Games Technical Support.

We have received some reports about the additional required main story cases not showing up for download on the digital version of L.A. Noire on PS3 in Europe, and are working with Sony on a resolution. If you would like to receive an automatic email notification when there is more information, please log into the Support Site and click Subscribe at the top of this article:

      Best regards,

      Richard R.
      Rockstar Support

Heres a “fun” fact btw: I went on the US web store and the American version of LA Noire Complete Edition is 16GB while the EU version is 12,7GB… Looks freaking shady to me and immediately shows that something is missing on the EU version.

    • So we’ve gotta wait till sony/R* clear this up then. Well I hope they do, cause I’m not going to buy a (faulty) game twice

    • I feel the same way, man. Even though buying a physical copy of the Complete Edition of LA Noire would fix this mess, I dont really feel its ‘the real solution’ to end this.

We’ve already payed for the game once so I see no need in buying this game again when either R* or Sony (probably both) should fix this problem ASAP so we get exactly what we paid for. We can only hope but unfortunately, I dont think they give a damn.

  • Is Linger in Shadows worth £1? I’ve seen it on sale before, but don’t really know much about the game.

  • To everyone complaining about The Witcher, it is currently £44 on Amazon and £45 at Game so £35 looks a decent price for me on a recently released AAA title.

What do you want it for, 10 quid?! No pleasing some people.

  • I can’t believe they’d still charge £23 for Godzilla, metascore of 38. Maybe it could be next months ps+ game?

  • All the Resogun stuff was showing as free but it wouldn’t let me download any of it!!

  • The blog is run by British people so please, for the love of all things Sony, put it in pounds! Euro should be added as a secondary price.

I shouldn’t have to convert Euro to pounds because of lazy blog posters.

    • Well , even if you do convert it, that doesn’t mean anything as we’ve seen week after week that they seriously don’t use any current rate, but their own

  • Jawad! Jawad come back! I’m sorry for complaining about the sales all these years, you can have your job back, how about a raise, I’m sorry!

  • And not one official reply to any or should i say the usual gripes ,gripes don’t really do it justice .
    Dear for the players
As a customer and a loyal…dwindling by the second ,can some one please respond too are complaint’s ,the list is in this blog every Wednesday after store update .

Bets taken now ,whats the odds on any off the WELL founded complaint ‘s we give which is met whith………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………Everyweek.

    • It’s not generally the guys who run the blogs’ job to respond to those complaints. They will only respond if there is already a solution. The real issue is that the official Playstation support is a joke. In my few experiences with them they were not only completely unhelpful but grossly incompetent, getting basic information drastically wrong. As an example, I contacted them about an issue I was having with Red Dead Redemption a while ago and the response was that I should contact EA about it. It’s like their only purpose is to give the appearance of providing support since they are simply incapable of actually providing any.

  • I was expecting to find the Expansion Pass for The Witcher to be on the sale. what a let down :(

  • Your blog updates are an absolute mess. Poorly formatted, poorly written, not even in alphabetical order, no prices in pounds. Sort it out eh?

    • Yeah, All I want is just a better store team who has the time to replies. I just cannot take mute as in answer all the time.

  • So you can discount the Battlefield DLC’s and not the main games themselves. Classic move from EA.

  • I can’t buy Tokyo Jungle Animal Characters Mega Bundle because I already have some of the content, and so now obtaining the rest of the content separately would cost me more… >.>

  • Isn’t it like third rockstar sale this year? I hope it’s last at least.

  • When a game is €49.99 while being 29% discounted I have to laugh myself silly. Mwahahahaha… I paid less than that for the superior PC version of W3 on day 1.

PSN pricing is so ridiculous that it’s funny.

  • When are we going to go back to the old store front for PS3? It was simple, easy to use, efficient and intuitive.
It was so much better. Faster, easier to navigate, easier to view what’s new.

Ever since the update years ago and every update since, it just got worse and worse. Entire games unable to be found by searching, only to be found in the PC store (Tokyo jungle was missing for a long time), pictures / boxshots not loading, stuff like this found in all 4 versions:

    http://pics.laaff.nl/PS-store-ugh.jpg
(Actual screenshot from the PC version just a moment ago)

The PS4 storefront is going to get a makeover soon, right (US already has it)? I hope it’s not going to be a major step back in ease-of-use like PS3’s store updates… :S

  • They spelt “regular” price wrong. Digital only console market will wreck people’s wallets

  • The Witcher 3/RockStar/Battlefield discounts are obviously a joke. You can get the games cheaper on ebay. I can never understand why people buy digital games that can be bought on disc with resale value. Anyway, I recommend VALIANT HEARTS for PS PLUS subscibers. Check out the reviews as not everyone’s cup of tea but definitely worth the £5.60 so far.

  • Bought the Resogun Season Pass :D Bargain!

I also bought the new character released for Awesomenauts, Nibb (Not in the sale). Great game, if you haven’t played it you need to give it a try. 3v3 (Attack and Defend) MOBA like

  • When I click on the withcer 3 + expansion, it says its £20, is that for the full game with the expansion or just expansion only?
