Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Director Hajime Tabata passes on some festive cheer
Happy Holidays, everyone! This is Hajime Tabata, Director of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and Final Fantasy XV. I won’t take up too much of your time as you prepare for your holiday festivities, but I did want to share our holiday card with you today that truly encapsulates my feelings about Final Fantasy Type-0 HD in a single sentence.
We launched the original Final Fantasy Type-0 on PSP back in 2011 in Japan, and due to the market conditions and many other factors, the Western release of the title simply wasn’t feasible at the time, as much as we tried. But thanks to you and your perseverance in letting us know that you wanted to play it, here we are in 2014 nearing the release of the HD version. In this case, it is you who made the fantasy become fact.
In Japan around this time every year, we have a large festival (much like the conventions you attend in the West) called JumpFesta. We’ve debuted two new trailers for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and Final Fantasy XV.
With JumpFesta behind us, I’m personally looking forward to 2015 very much, with a visit to the US in January, where I’ll be joining you for a Reddit AMA on 23/1/15 at 6.00pm GMT. Please bring your questions about Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for me!
And after that, it’s only two short months before the launch of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it, so please remember what made this game possible in the first place — you!
Have a safe and happy New Year, everyone!

Happy holidays! But only to PS4 owners because we couldn’t care less about Vita.
No Vita no buy.
And do not joke about
“But thanks to you and your perseverance in letting us know that you wanted to play it, here we are in 2014 nearing the release of the HD version. ”
It was PSP and later on Vita owners who asked for that game, not PS4 owners.
Ah.. always with the drama. I’m PSP owner but srsly I’m glad to see it coming to the better place not PS3 or PSP or even Vita. So you’re not getting any new gen console or what ? *sigh*
Anyway thanks Tabata san! you too

Truth to be said… I don’t know… I really don’t.
One year ago it would be pretty much obvious thing for me to do as I have PSX-PS2-PS3… now… when I see what SONY is doing with Vita it makes me wonder how much they can mess up. They couldn’t bring Type-0 HD to Vita like we asked for (what’s worse SCEE’s employee already manage to say that it is coming because his team worked on it)… now they are taking Gravity Rush 2 from Vita to PS4…
I don’t like when I am treated like cash cow.
On the other hand there is Nintendo… not always perfect, but even when Wii U wasn’t doing well they supported it… they even bought Bayonetta for it. Oh and there is also Xenoblade Chronicles X… So yeah… I don’t know yet. I might buy PS4… but that depends pretty much on SONY.
If they think they will force me to buy PS4 by taking Vita games to PS4… than they are mistaken.
Sadly you have right point there.. I felt like they betrayed me when they announced Tearaway for PS4 so I know how you feel.. I wasn’t know about Gravity Rush though :(
Anyway there’s great games coming to the new gen consoles which means is hard to just ignore it for just.. this
They need to make it for PS4 so they can port it to Vita.
It’s easier than making it for Vita and then port it to PS4.
Nintendo didn’t “buy” Bayonetta. The IP is still owned by Platinum Games as far as i know. N simply “saved” it from certain oblivion.
There’s no confirmation that Gravity Rush 2 will come on ps4. And even if it does, that doesn’t mean that it won’t come on Vita too. Anyway, the Vita version for Type-0 could be announced after some time like it happened with Resident Evil: Revelations 2.
