Take on creepy clowns, corrupt riot police and mad scientists in 10tons’ wacky latest
Hello! I’m glad to be back on the PlayStation Blog to say a few words about our new game, Tennis in the Face, which arrives on PS4 today.
As you might guess from the title, Tennis in the Face isn’t a very serious game. Nor a tennis game, really. Instead it’s more about smashing furious tennis serves at creepy clowns, corrupt riot police, mad scientists and a couple of other worthy targets of some tough tennis street justice.
The set up is easy to grasp; each level contains a handful of enemies, which you must knock out by hitting them with a tennis ball. The enemies are lurking behind walls and obstacles, so you need to bounce the ball a couple of times to reach them.
Why? Well, you’ll just have to download the free trial for the full story. It’s about an evil energy drink corporation, a ruined pro-tennis career and one angry Pete Pagassi.
I should also mention the hilarious ragdoll effect used on the enemies. Every so often the chaos unfolds in spectacular manner, when an explosive chain reaction sends a clown flying through the air and landing on a riot police, with both tumbling down to squash a hipster fondling a smartphone. Tennis in the Face is a great specimen of slapstick comedy in a game.
Tennis in the Face is also coming to PS Vita in the next few weeks. We intended the PS Vita version to launch at the same time with the PS4 version, but multiplatform game development is sometimes quite an adventure!
We have also started production on two brand new games lately, and I hope to be able to announce them in early 2015. Stay tuned, and serve some swift tennis justice in the meantime!
