Announcing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a new franchise From Naughty Dog

Explore a whole new world from the studio behind The Last of Us, Uncharted, and more.

We’re back! You have been dying to know what’s next for us, and I’m thrilled to finally be able to answer: Naughty Dog’s next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, currently in development for the PlayStation 5 console. We’ve been working on this brand-new adventure since 2020! This game is shaping up to be our wildest, most creative story yet. If you haven’t already, check out the announcement trailer:

Announcing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a new franchise From Naughty Dog

Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.

Beyond that, we’re keeping everything about the story under wraps – at least for now. What we can tell you is that this game lives up to the Naughty Dog tradition of creating an emotional, character-driven epic journey. Our narrative goals are rivaled only by our gameplay ambitions. This will be the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history, taking our learnings from our previous franchises and pushing them beyond anything we’ve ever done before.

Jordan is played by the talented Tati Gabrielle, who leads a stellar cast (pun intended!). Eagle-eyed players might spot some of the other cast members in the trailer. We’ll reveal more of our ensemble down the line.

Our incredible voyage into the cosmos also needs an equally incredible soundtrack. As tremendous fans of their work, I’m excited to announce our collaboration with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who’ll be scoring Intergalactic! The guys are cooking, and the trailer is just a small tease of their work for the game.

We know you’re eager for more – and trust us, we’re very eager to share more with you. For now, though, it’s time to put our heads back down and keep cranking away on Jordan’s adventure.

On behalf of the entire team at Naughty Dog, thank you to all our fans! Your support allows us to work on our dream games, bringing these wonderful new worlds and characters to life. We can’t wait to show you more!

See you on the other side,

Neil Druckmann

Naughty Dog Studio Head

  • Color me intrigued.

    Side note.

Being petty, snide and hateful seems to be in-vogue nowadays. It saddens me. I saw this trailer on the official YouTube channel and man. Just because a game is not for you doesn’t mean you gotta insult it and the team behind it.

Wishing the best and if the gameplay is up my alley, I’ll definitely buy it.

  • The main character seems very arrogant, not very likeable nor relatable.

    I’m curious about the game.
We have yet to see any gameplay.

People are tired of bald protagonist and always have been in general.
It works for Kratos and only Kratos.

  • I’m curious about the game.
We have yet to see any gameplay.

  • Why a shaved head?

  • Words cannot accurately express how excited I am for this game.

  • Can’t wait!!

  • Nod to Akira! (Kaneda red jacket, disc player reminds me of jukebox bar scene in Akira.)
Nod to Cowboy Bebop! (Spaceship and Bountyhunter)

I am so excited for this new IP.
Sci-Fi! Wished you would have called it Savage Starlight though.

    Endure and survive.
Also not that sold on the enemy design..

    The rest is topnotch!!

  • Did I spot Kumail Nanjiani likeness in that trailer?

  • About time we see something different from this studio.

  • This is lit, as always from ND. The losers whining will come back to say it’s a masterpiece like TLOU2.

  • First and foremost, love the vibe. It’s got a Cowboy Bebop/80s/Guardians of the Galaxy vibe which I dig. BUT I struggle with wanting to play any story driven game where I’m locked into who the main character is (I don’t get to create one). Ultimately, I won’t play it. I’d feel the same if the main character WAS Spike. I love being able to create a character. One of the greats that did this was Mass Effect. Commander Shepherd could be anyone you wanted. Cyberpunk 2077 did it as well and it works! I’m aware that there are gamers that don’t care about character creation/customization. A good friend of mine doesn’t and it drives me nuts when he picks a preset and runs with it haha. He’ll buy this game without a second thought and love it! My point in all the rambling is there’s an option, and that option gets gamers like me excited to play games like this.

    • I’m like your friend, I really do not care about the customization, for me it’s a chore which always looks subpar to the official designs.
So I played Mass Effect and Cyberpunk with the standard female character.

I don’t think ND will do customization since they always lean toward creating a character and their stories.

  • Sorry Sony but I wouldn’t add it to my library if it was a free game on PS+. It’s a shame what California has done to Sony. You guys have awesome hardware but the Western-developed mindset is destroying the PlayStation brand. This game looks like everything wrong with modern gaming and the comments are disabled for the trailer on Naughty Dog’s YT account. I hope it flops, Sony needs to learn.

  • the PC audience you’re desperately trying to cater to are already starting a hate campaign at full force

  • Looks stunning from a visual, technical standpoint as all Naughty Dog games do. But holy product placement Batman!

  • ND should hace been hard at work on this game instead of wasting ti.e on another PC port that will flop.

A few things. About time ND announce a new hame/IP.

I like that it is Sci-Fi, but I absolutely hate the character design. Bald manly women, no thank you. I am sick of the uglification of female characters in the West. After playing Stellar Blade, I do not want to play as an unattractive female and her design is unattractive from a creative/artistic standpoint.

I also do not like that they used a real actress from Sabrina and You Netflix shows instead of creatinh an original face. Another thing I do not like is the art direction itself. Why not be more creative instead of making another “realistic’ looking game? This is a Sci-Fi game, not Uncharted.

I do mot think this game will sell as well as people claim. It will not flop, but it will have lower sales compared to their last few games. More like Horizon 2 or Uncharted 2-3 range.

Last thing. ND are cowards for disabling comments on their YouTube trailer of the game. Let people comment and speak their mind. You want us to buy the game, but you want to sensor our opinion.

  • Very excited for this. Loved ND games since a child with Jak & Daxter, and I absolutely adore anything retro-futuristic.

As for the mindless echochamber comments saying anything negative thus far in regards to the appearance of the main character genuinely need to go outside and see what real women look like.
Sorry to tell you the UwU girls you see in your JRPG’s are not representative of real world women.

  • @Tolq Why are your feelings so hurt over other people’s opinion?

  • Seems interesting, looking forward to playing it!

  • Can’t believe there’s so many haters. I’m so excited! Retro space got me intrigued and the game just looked very Naughty Dog!

  • Reznor and Ross? Shyeeeeee. Looks dope.

  • Incredible! Had goosebumps watching it at the game awards.

  • Cant wait to find out more about this game!!! And more improvement of accessibility!!! Naughty Dog finally back!!!! The accessibility of The Last of Us Part I and II was amazing!!!!

  • Don’t want to play as a girl lol

  • I’m really excited about this game; it looks great, and I look forward to hearing more about this new world that Naughty Dog and PlayStation are bringing to us soon.

  • Looks incredible. Can’t wait to play this one day. Take your time. We know it’s going to be next level as always

  • Back in 2011, Naughty Dog released the reveal trailer for The Last of Us. I was immediately turned off by it as it seemed like just another zombie survival story in a time where it seemed that the market was flooded with them. However by the time they showcased some gameplay the following year, I’d realized I severely misjudged Naughty Dog. Despite what some people think, I trust Naughty Dog to nailed Intergalactic and prove many of these naysayers wrong. I can’t wait to see more.

  • This was such an incredible surprise for the end of the Game Awards. Immediately on my radar.

Naughty Dog, Trent Reznor, looks like Kumail Nanjiani is part of it as well! Super excited!

  • They could of made something amazing by having the protagonist as customizable.

I’m expecting Veilguard level dialog with gameplay taking a backseat.

  • Haven’t played a space game in a while. I’m digging the trailer! I’m trying to figure out the voice actor for the agent lol! Looking forward to seeing more of the game. I’ll be doing wishlist, pre-order, etc etc!!!

  • I’m really not trying to be a jerk but I’m so massively disappointed with the PS5.

I can count on one hand how many “PS5” games I’ve actually enjoyed.

If this is what playstation is gonna be going forward then I’m definitely out for next gen and ill

  • Looks fresh and awesome! Looking forward to it!

  • Naughty Dog, I’m loving the 80s aesthetic to things, and the music, I’m hoping that is very 80s too – very nice looking story thus far.

    Excited about this. I’m in.
You do stories like no other. That alone is reason number one for going all in day one.

  • They turned off comments on YouTube on Naughty Dog’s website, but on Sony’s website they are still on – I wonder how long ?

  • What is their obsession with taking a good looking person and modeling her like that?

  • Kind of mixed on this myself as a massive Naughty Dog fan. I think we should be able to celebrate beautiful men and women in games and not see it as something to be ashamed of. That aside its Naughty Dog’s pedigree which has me interested rather than this teaser and that’s a shame, it does appear to be going down the route The Last of us Part 2s main flaw of pushing “the message” over believable story telling (even though over all its still an AMAZING game). I bet it’s awful for the team as well hearing such negative feedback to a game they have no doubt worked so hard on, but likewise as a fan honest feedback is what serves both parties best in the long run. Your still my favourite game studio so please don’t lose heart completely!

  • I’m 50 years old I truly pray God to still be alive when this incredible journey begins see you on the other side naughty dog for president yay once again to rule the world-!!!

  • Looks incredible!

  • Lol! Five or more years ago the character might habe been interesting. Today it’s just a stereotypical cliche character. This is weak and kinda dissapointing but exactly what I expected from Neil Druckman.

  • Day 1 buy, this looks very intriguing!

  • For the MoDeRn audience, lol. How many copies did Concord sold?

  • we can see how that consultation with Sweet Baby went.

  • Naughty Dog starting a newer franchise after The Last of Us is risky both ways because it hasn’t proven it deserves it.

They should’ve just left this as one game because now they’re putting everything on the line.

  • The space theme? What happened to classic storytelling and human relationships in earthly settings? Does true loneliness now require venturing into space? The main character, reminiscent of someone from the second part of The Last of Us, shaves her head with clippers but doesn’t even bother to wipe it down afterward, showing no concern for discomfort. Yet, somehow, she finds the time for a perfectly packaged cocktail with a straw… It looks rather ridiculous and sad.

It’s deeply disappointing to see such a trailer, and if the game turns out to be just as absurd, it seems the only option left is to stick to mourning The Last of Us multiplayer and waiting for the next remaster…

  • I’m loving the look and feel! Can wait for the next visual or trailer.

  • Definitely not for me. From character design to premise it’s a no go. Some nice graphics isn’t enough. Funny how any “negative” comment gets attacked. (And that’s fine?)

  • Wait… Trent Reznor? As in the guy from Nine Inch Nails? That alone has me sold!

  • So Psyched! A New World From An Amazing Studio? What More Could We Ask For? Anything Naughty Dog Makes It Turns To Gold. Cant Wait! Looks So Beautiful! ND is just one kf those few studios whos games still look current gen a decade later. Sign Me Up!

  • I’m so excited for an epic game by ND in space! I feel ND has become so controversial because their games are so heart felt. Gamers react as if it’s real! Amazing. Keep up the great work!
