Join Astro on his own supersized space adventure.
Hi everyone! On behalf of Team Asobi, I have the immense pleasure to unveil our new game Astro Bot coming to PlayStation 5.
A video speaks a thousand words so please check out our first trailer to see the game in action.

Since making an appearance at the launch of PlayStation 5, Astro has introduced many players to the magic of PlayStation. We received a ton of heart-warming comments about how much fun the game was, how it utilized the DualSense wireless controller in fun ways and how it paid tribute to 25 years of PlayStation history. From the bottom of our robotic hearts, thank you very much for all your support!
We listened to your comments and now, Astro is back in a super-sized space adventure, his biggest to date.

In this brand-new game, you will explore 6 galaxies and over 80 levels in search of Astro’s scattered crew. Hold on tight to your Dual Speeder and dive down to each unique planet, from lush forests, sandy beaches, hot volcanoes to more surprising locations such as a gigantic hourglass or the canopy of a singing tree!

To get help on his mission, Astro can use over 15 new abilities offering unique play styles. As you would expect from an Astro game, these take full advantage of the DualSense controller, its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers so you can feel every little step along the journey. Among the many new powers, you will find Barkster, the Bulldog Booster that lets you air-dash and smash through enemies, metal and glass, the Twin-Frog Gloves that offer long-range punching and the ability to swing and the Giant Sponge that lets you suck up water from the environment to grow huge and cause massive (and slightly moist) destruction. Combined with improved Astro controls, these new powers take the Astro platforming experience to new heights, while remaining accessible for all. We can’t wait for you to get your hands on these and let us know how they feel.

We also cranked up the number of baddies too with over 70 new types, including massive bosses at the end of each galaxy. Special mention to the deadly cobra queen Lady Venomara who appears in the trailer, waiting for you in her golden lair. Defeating each boss will uncover a wonderful secret but we don’t want to spoil that, so our lips are sealed😊. And for the brave ones of you craving even more challenge, the game comes packed with die-and-retry levels to test your reflexes.

But that’s not all, during this epic adventure, Astro will reunite with many friends from the PlayStation universe. The trailer shows only a few but we double down on the cast and hope to delight every PlayStation fan out there. And who knows, maybe this time, these characters will play an even bigger part in saving the day? (wink)

That’s all for now. Thank you for reading. At Team Asobi, we believe in the second-to-second fun and joy of video games. And with this new Astro Bot game, we invested all our love and craft to bring a constant smile to your face, as you run, jump, bop enemies and find the many secrets and jokes we dotted around. We will be waiting for you on September 6!

We’ll be back soon with more details about the game as well as pre-orders opening up June 7. Until then, power up your DualSense, Team Asobi and Astro are taking you on a PlayStation space adventure to remember!

Team Asobi out!
No VR2 support????
No mention of VR support really hurt my soul. what a gut punch.
Just adding my comment to the wall of dissatisfaction. It’s absolutely ridiculous that this isn’t a PS5/PSVR2 hybrid.
AB is such a beloved franchise that it’d be a guaranteed hit on PSVR2 and a great way to entice ppl to buy PSVR2.
What on Earth are you thinking Sony?
Please can we have a PSVR2 version of astro bot. It would only be good for the console. It was one of the best games on the first one
Where’s the PSVR2 support? Realistically I didn’t expect it to be exclusive to PSVR2 as I appreciate you want to reach as wide an audience as possible but I was expecting it to be a hybrid title.
Astro Bot Rescue Mission was an unexpected highlight of the first PSVR and as I have just purchased a PSVR2, I was very disappointed to not see any mention of PSVR2 support for this new adventure or the original title for that matter. Please add PSVR2 to both…PLEASE!
As this is a Sony title, they should go back to the original Astro Bot and make it compatible with the New PS VR2 system.
Really I find this slack/rubbish that Sony has not done this already, they should be promoting their own hardware better and give a fantastic game a great future in additional sales.
If anything, go back and fix so that it can be relaunched with the new astrobot both supported on PS VR2.
Soon, this post will be pushed off the front page unfortunately but I hope you’ve read even a sliver of comments here Sony and think about how some of your most dedicated customers are just utterly disappointed in the direction you’re going right now. Honestly, it really does seem like you’re just pushing everyone toward PC. I have a rtx4080 so I’m great either way but 1st party games are truly special and while the 3rd party support for PSVR2 is still great, people look forward to the 1st party titles the most even if they’re scarce.
Where is the psvr2 support, could easily be a hybrid game?
Please, at least port Rescue Mission on PSVR2 :/
Love astrobot finally!
Add psvr2 support next! Or a psvr2 dedicated astrobot game,
You can do Sony, we believe in you! 😃
Sony, please bring Astro Bot to PSVR2 for the holidays as a good will gesture to loyal PS players! Thanks!
Bought PSVR2 assuming you would support your own product but you just took the money left us feeling stupid for buying it thanx
It may be off the front page but it’ll still linger with us. There is no way we can’t possibly get more Astro Bot in VR Sony?
la verdad es el mejor juego que eh mirado bueno de sony en años ojala sigan haciendo mas juegos parecidos a este por que ya es hora de que hagan juegos mas casuales y vivos como en la época de la ps2
The truth is, it is the best game I have seen from Sony in years. I hope they continue to make more games similar to this one because it is time for them to make more casual and lively games like in the time of the PS2.
Hello AstroBot, what’s happen’ Fella, hope those people at PlayStation and Sony are treating you well?
What happened to your big debut into psvr2, you haven’t forgotten where you came from, have you? I hope not, we’re all waiting and hoping you’ll still have something for our community at psvr2, some of thought you’d be up for another Rescue Mission or just a port of your original masterpiece. Come on AstroBot you know you want it, all that fame, saving the Universe. Hope to see you soon in psvr2 world real soon. wild-hour193 psn.
This could have EASILY been a hybrid title with PSVR2 support.
Sony- it’s time to tear down all the walls Jim Ryan built up around your brand… we’re expecting better things from the new leadership.
Awesome to see Astrobot getting his own full length game. Flat gamers are in for a treat.
Sony, please don’t leave us PSVR fans out. We love Rescue Mission on PSVR 1 and would love this game to get a PSVR 2 version too.
Please and thanks for listening to all the VR feedback this thread has generated.
I normally wait on a discount for games because they’re expensive but this is day 1 for me.
This game needs to have VR support. Sony, I pre-ordered a PSVR 2 head set and I spent hard earned money on it. You need to support it with first party titles. Astro Bot rescue mission is one of the best VR games I have ever played. It is shameful that this does not have VR support. Sony please negate some of the negativity that is out there about your headset by adding VR support in the new Astro Bot game!!!
PS VR2
I will only buy this if it has a vr mode.
My most wanted game of 2024 by a space-mile.
As a PS owner for multiple console generations, and a big fan of PSVR 1/2, this a huge letdown this doesn’t at least have VR support!
Really would be nice to see more love going towards PSVR2, hybrid game support for big titles like this would go a long way.
Will definitely buy this new Astro Bot game, but where is the PS VR 2 love? Hopefully this will be a hybrid game or at least have a new PS VR 2 Astro Bot coming soon… Thanks.
This is what gaming is all about. Make gaming fun again (except for Nintendo, which has never stopped).
The pre-order of the physical copy is supposed to include a double sided poster. I pre-ordered on WalMart, but there is NO mention of this poster. Is it included within the game box?
Also,it’s going to take 4 days to ship (free shipping), and the total is $64.79.
Can’t wait but I do want a physical copy….to keep forever.
NO PSVR2?!!
Looks great and happy for the team and understand the mainstream push, astrobot deserves to be a tentpole ps mascot, but we need hybrid games! And everyone in the vr community was banking on astro sequel. Sony made the tech to push the medium and the few AAA games have proved it is the new bar set. Really hope more is coming and the amazing tech sony has created doesnt become such a wasted opportunity.
please make it 2 player, even if it is turn based.
PSVR2 support is coming out in a future update right? RIGHT???
Is it work with VR 2 like first edition?
Incredibly disappointed there was no VR implementation for this, the first time I tried rescue mission at a friend’s house I immediately walked out, got into my car and headed to the shops to buy the psvr1, that’s the impact the original game had on me
Astro bot is better in vr so why no vr2 ?
You promoted Horizon Call of the Mountain as a system seller for PS VR2 but Astro Bot would have been a great system seller as well.
Can’t believe this won’t get psvr2 support. Feels like a bad dream
Like many of the comments I see here I will not buy Astro Bot unless PSVR2 is supported. VR was what made this game special and a favorite for so many. Its a blow to many of the long time fans. I hope they are looking at all these comments seriously and are true to their fan base. Seems like they are just dropping the PSVR2 with no big games coming to it. It’s disheartening to witness.
These comments are really unbelievable to me. The tech demo game was incredible and a ton gamers wanted more Astro Bot. So Team Asobi has been hard at work for years to give us exactly that and instead of leaving a nice comment under this genuine well thought out blog the majority of you instead cry like little babies over no psvr support.
These “little babies” purchased a VR headset that costs more than the console and have been speaking to existence on wanting another Astro Bot for VR since the first VR title released in 2018. We’re not even asking for another VR exclusive but to make it a hybrid so every can still play. Imagine spending double the money to be treated as 2nd class. It’s infuriating.
