New pricing changes to PlayStation Plus 12-Month plans.

It’s a new month, with a new lineup of PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September. The Monthly Games lineup of Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition and Generation Zero will be available to PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, September 5 until Monday, October 2.

Let’s take a closer look at each of the games in turn.

Saints Row | PS4, PS5

Experience the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created.  The unique sprawling world of Santo Ileso is the backdrop for a wild, larger than life sandbox of thrilling side hustles, criminal ventures and blockbuster missions, as you shoot, drive and wingsuit your way to the top. Take over the city block by block, wage war against enemy factions and tighten your grip on the streets. Play online with a friend at any time, via fully untethered drop-in / drop out co-op, skipping the need to take either of you out of the outlandish action.

Black Desert – Traveler Edition | PS4

Find your calling in this open-world fantasy MMORPG which boasts fast-paced PvE combat, large-scale PvP siege wars, multiple character classes and combat types to specialize in. You can also choose to dedicate yourself to a variety of pursuits, such as trade, fishing, horse training, alchemy, cooking, and gathering. The Traveler Edition is a bundle of the base game and multiple add-ons*.

*Those add-ons collectively constitute The Traveler Item Pack, which is also available on PlayStation Store as a separate download. PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert cannot redeem the full Traveler Edition bundle from PlayStation Plus. However, PlayStation Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert other than the Traveler Edition may redeem the standalone Traveler Item Pack from PlayStation Plus, instead.

Generation Zero

This first-person open world adventure is set in a familiar but hostile open world of 1980s Sweden. Battle and survive deadly machine enemies alone or with three friends in seamless online co-op as you discover the truth behind what’s happened to the region. You must choose your battles wisely as you engage in adrenaline-pumping guerilla combat against these mechanical forces. Scavenge parts from your fallen enemies and use them to craft equipment, weapons and ammunition. Build and fortify your own bases across the island and start taking back your home.

  • The only thing we can do together as a gaming society is to stop paying for PS Plus, if you have a problem with that then at least only buy from economically poorer markets like Turkey.

  • The price increase doesn’t surprise me but the lack of accompanying features and benefits to justify it is. Hope Jimmy Ryan has an ace up his sleeve for 2024.

  • Ridiculous if anything should be a price decrease.
Im appalled by the notion of a price increase for essentials tier.
Sony needs to backtrack these price increases immediately.

  • Really PlayStation? Have you seen this prices in Canada? This is unacceptable, don’t expect people to pay for this, next thing you know people is leaving the platform. I’m not paying for subscriptions anymore, that’s it. I’m tired of these corporations miking the loyalty of people sticking to a brand for so long. But enough is enough, I wish for once we all be together to create a buzz and make these people understand that without us they’re nothing.

    Rats!!

  • 아오 이 씨발아 ^^

  • I don’t even play online multiayer but I bought a Premium sub for the first time to play the PS1 /PSP games on the PS5.

You got me in with the Ridge Racer games, but now I find the rest are pretty lacklustre indeed… where’s the PS1 Tomb Raider series or Wipeouts? Each month I wait hoping for a great PS1 game to appear, yet…

At £120, Premium Tier subscription is now just not value for money for what you get extra compared with Essential Tier.

That all being said, I might have subbed another year, but definitely not after the ridiculously disproportionate price increase.

I’d rather put my funds into the PSVR2 games I want; I’ll probably cancel my subscription when it ends and weigh things up.

Sony are now going to have to offer something pretty substantial compared to the other Tiers to keep people in the Premium Tier, that’s for sure.

  • 지랄하네

  • even at $120 Premium was a stretch if Sony would actually include day one release then a $40 price increase might be Justified however currently is not

    bye

Your cancellation is confirmed. The PlayStation Plus Premium: 12 Month Subscription subscription will cancel on 08/23/2024. You can reactivate the subscription anytime before 08/23/2024.

  • So arrogant $ony is back 🤮
Wonder why Jim needs so much money? Maybe he doesn’t have that much millions earned by never hard working 🤔

  • This is the biggest [DELETED] move of greed that we get has fans and as supporters. Sony really don’t care of what it’s going on in the world. Countries like Portugal from 60€ to 72€ it’s a MEGA price hike and you guys don’t realize that. [DELETED]? Solution, for me at least I will not renew my subscription. This is a clear out robbery. And if this means that I will never subscribe again, so be it!

  • Jim Ryan trying hard to do what Don Mattrick did to the Xbox one 🤦‍♂️

    • Really starting to loose trust in Ryans leadership and its not the first time. I mean its more than bad timing.

  • If this is going to include the ability to play my entire back catalog, physical as well as digital, from PS1 to present, including handhelds, then I will consider it. Otherwise, I am glad I have Game Pass with day one first party releases and backward compatibility. Also, is this to cover the predicted losses from the Playstation Portal? Seems like it.

  • Seems like it’s time for me to rescue my single-player backlog games. The online games I play now are free-to-play (Overwatch and Rocket League), so I don’t need a re-subscription once my current subscription ends this year.

  • This TOTALLY unacceptable! I have had PS Plus since the beginning and will be cancelling my membership if this goes through

  • Another price hike? Sony are you nuts? Once my current subscription ends, I’m no longer subbing. This was the last straw for me. It’s not even about the money for me, but the ethics behind this price hike. With inflation running rampant and salaries stagnating, how could this even be a consideration at Sony? Exclusives or not, you’re just going to alienate your user base at this point. Not even worth subbing at the current price then Sony wants you to pay more? Good bye.

  • A price hike and the worst PS Plus lineup in its history

Saints Row (Metacritic 61 / User score 2.9)

Black Desert (Metacritic 61 / User score 3.8)

Generation Zero (Metacritic 45 / User score 5.9)

Sorry Sony I can’t justify that at all

  • 40% de aumento, em um país com poder aquisitivo baixo é um absurdo, o mínimo que esperamos são jogos de qualidade em day-one.

  • Hiking up the prices for these subscriptions by those amounts are insane. Thankful I got another year discounted recently. But I will be seriously rethinking continuing to use PS Plus come Summer of 2024. The monthly line up for this month and this announcement leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I’m really disappointed.

    • These are my feelings EXACTLY. Come next year, it’s bye bye PS PLUS. Actually going to consider canceling my preorder for Destiny 2 the Final Shape because I’m not going to pay those ridiculous subscription prices just to be able to play online along with my other PlayStation friends. Big FAT L on Sony’s part.

  • This sucks, since you’re offering nothing for the price increase, I’ll not renew when my sub runs out.
Congrats on making eveeyone move to Xbox and PC.

  • I just don’t agree with the $80 price tag. The only way I see myself continuing with PS+, is specifically, a steep discount via PS Days of summer or a Black Friday sale.

Other than that, I’ll let my subscription run out for the time being.

  • Hi,

I haven’t commented here in years, but, I had to chime in with everyone else to let you know; this was an all-time misfire from your services and marketing teams, and I hope you reverse course on it ASAP.

I’ve been subscribed to PS+ since it originally launched as the Instant Game Collection on PS3. After reading this news, I turned off auto-renew on my Premium subscription, because I will not pay this absurd increased rate, *especially* with no justification besides a very nebulous “we can add some mystery things later.”

Coupled with a mediocre lineup, *and* announcing it the day before your closest competition *finally* has a game that players are excited for is just…almost bold of you.

Everything here is an insult to your customers. Do better.

    • same here, ive been a customer since they started charging, before it was free. this is my last time using PS plus and most likely playstation. they just keep going down hill. might as well just save up for a gaming PC that has better games and free online

  • I am not very pleased about those 12 month PS Plus prices. Premium for #160, Extra for $135, and Essentials for $80? This is insane. What are they thinking?!

  • I’ve had PS + since it started on PS3. I won’t be resubbing when it’s up next year unless SOME triple A new releases day 1 happen but it won’t or up the value of this price increase for Essential, those day 1 indies on Extra don’t cut it for me. At this point I don’t care if my saves are stranded on the cloud and can’t be downloaded like on PS4. Time to upgrade to a Starfield-ready PC.

  • Don’t get me wrong. I love PlayStation. I just don’t like the price hikes. I just hope these prices get reversed.

    • @Xer0Signal Same here. I am also turning off auto-renewal as well. I like the PS Plus when you pay $50 for 12 months back then, and PS Now being a separate service. Like I said, they will need to reverse those changes, or they will lose customers.

  • You would think that a price hike announcement would coincide with an amazing lineup and some new inclusions to tiers that justify the increase. This just comes across as insanely greedy. Way to go Sony.

Too bad there isn’t a cheap basic tier for just online and cloud saves.

  • I’ll turn off my auto renew tonight when I get home. I have money to throw around, but I just refuse to keep giving every corporation more money for no reason

  • are you ok sony? $80 for online gaming i don’t give crap about monthly free crap games. the only reason i brought ps plus because of online games . pls don’t do this

$80 is too much for online gaming

or create separate ps plus for online gaming $20

  • I cannot believe this is how Sony treats its loyal customers! What justifies this price hike? Please get outta here with this nonsense!
Sure will be cancelling my subscription when this is done. Nobody has time for greedy companies that care nothing for their consumers!
Aren’t high quality games the very foundation this service was built up on?
This is how you self-destruct as a company with leadership that has no clue who and what their customers really want!

    • Concordo com tudo que você disse!!

    • exactly . no added benefits at all with the price increase. they treat long time loyal customers like criminals every time you reach out to support with issues. no high quality games at all yet a dog [DELETED] price increase….ridiculous

  • Here’s a free tip Sony: if you’re going to drop a price increase on your customers, don’t do it after dropping a turd like Saints Row ‘22 onto PS+. Looks like I’ll be dropping down another tier, back to Essential. And it’s only “essential” so I can play online with friends, otherwise I’d drop PS+ completely! Thanks for making Xbox / GamePass look a little more tempting.

  • no one going to pay for 80$ for online games

  • To announce a price hike alongside 3 lackluster games isn’t really reassuring me that the price change is helping increase the quality of the service.

  • Who is captain of this idiot-ship ? Are you f*king out of your minds!!!

  • the reason people buying ps plus because of online games requiring ps plus otherwise no one give crap about free monthly games or crap cloud gaming or cloud save

  • #boycott new ps plus price

  • You announce a price hike along with a terrible lineup. On top of pulling out of Japan, because PS hasn’t been a Japanese company in years, and censoring the hell out of Japanese games (not Western games, I notice). Jim Ryan is doing a terrible job. PS pulls in money because it’s too big to fail. It’s that one kid you used to hang out with because he was cool, and now he’s a jerk who sometimes acts cool.

  • Seriously, who of SIE Management signs such decision with that timing? It feels like Sabotage.

    • Jim Ryan: A man who has no particular interest in video games–they are merely the widgets he is tasked to sell. As a result, he is predictable, unimaginative, and of course, greedy.

  • Agree with all of you on here, the games are [DELETED]You can’t get into anything without being kicked out Unless you’re in a special grude and they wanna raise the price ([DELETED]) So I guess I’m just gonna get rid of my PlayStation and buy pc. Because you pay for the internet and you game all day long for free. All you have to pay for is a game. It’s the way of the world over price game systems over price games and overpriced playstation.

  • pls pls pls guys don’t buy ps plus until they drop this price

$80 just to play online is [DELETED]💩💩

  • pls pls guy don’t buy ps plus until they drop the price

    $80 just to play online

    are you mad sony

  • Sure hope they’re gonna do something to justify the price increase.

    • heres the neat part, they arent doing anything. its just a price increase for more money to “compete with Microsoft”

  • Nope, I’m not resubscribing after this changes, ps plus is not worth this much, maybe a 5-10 dollars increase are considerable because of inflation, but this is just been greedy, the games dropped to us subscribers feel like the bottom of the barrel and we are paying you for doing absolutely nothing, so no thanks.

  • I appreciate Sony Playstation doing things to make me leave to PC and other platforms. Be it the added censorship, the political/social pushes, and these now price increases. After my Premium ends on January 9, 2025, I’ll be on PC at that point. While just playing my physical games on my current system if I feel like it.

Premium was bad already. Price hike with no show of improvement or enticement is insulting to say the least… It’s funny that the bomb of Saints Row reboot that killed Volition off is to highlight this increase.

I’ve made my opinions known before on surveys and even not long ago questionare on renewal. Obviously all that was taken was to do the opposite of what I suggested or asked as a long-standing customer. So the message is clear to me that I should leave and not purchase from Playstation. I’ve tried holding hope. Playstation would make a positive comeback and now I give up.

I’ve done it during Nintendo from Wii Era, I did it during the start of Xbox One Era, and it seems mid way I’ll be doing it for the PS5 Era… The people runny Playstation are out of their minds it seems and any faith/hope is gone.

The moves made mid PS4 generation have finally come to permanently damage Playstation for me. All my close friends have moved to PC already and few playing Playstation is sparse. Good job in doing things to burn me off over the years.

  • #boycott ps plus until they this price

  • With all this backlash it’ll be interesting to see if they actually go through with this.

  • Are you KIDDING ME SONY?!?! $80 for basic essential multiplayer access?! Looks like greed knows no bounds. This is a slap in the face especially since games are going for $70 each now. I will definitely be looking to switch over to XBOX permanently since they actually have a quality game pass. What a shame.

  • To make it clear. I can easily afford that price increase and maybe its justified. Still i think its a really bad decision, bad timing and no Intuition for the Situation of many ppl in times when your biggest competitor releases their biggest game and likely buys the biggest independent publisher. Seriously who signs such decisions??

  • Caso isso se concretize sony eu imediatamente não renovarei mais minha assinatura anotem o que eu estou falando!!!

  • Terrible line up – and with a price increase. There is no explanation about why there is a price increase, just the bull PR “eNABLE US tO CONtInUE BriNgING hIGh-quaLIty gAmeS anD ValUE-ADded bEnEfIts”, yet there isnt a single added benefit AT ALL announced with the price increase and each month the games are mediocre at best. maybe 3 out of 12 months being good. I am sick of every [DELETED] company raising prices with no added benefits at all.

not only that, im sick of being treated like a criminal by support. every time they think i am trying to rob them. no other company treats their users this way. i was legit hacked (they changed my PlayStation email and make purchases on my account) and PlayStation REFUSED to refund me because the thief downloaded the products. yet it was obvious i was robbed.

such bs. this is my last PlayStation and last ps plus year. PS5 games have been not exciting at all, almost no exclusives worth it. not even a LOU2 ps5 version. so sick of companies doing the bare minimum and charging a “premium”. after this it is better to just buy a gaming PC. Free online and better games. this is coming from a PlayStation 1 user who started in 1996 with crash bandicoot being my first game.
