PlayStation VR2: 13 new titles and launch lineup revealed

More than 30 games on track for release starting February 22.

Back in November we revealed 11 titles coming to PlayStation VR2 in 2023, and today we’re excited to not only reveal 13 more amazing games to the PS VR2 library, but also confirm titles expected to arrive within one month of the February 22 launch.

We are currently tracking more than 30 games for the launch window through March*, including titles from popular IP like Horizon Call of the Mountain, No Man’s Sky, and Resident Evil Village. A free PS VR2 update for Gran Turismo 7 is also on track for launch day. A quick update from Polyphony:

We’re thrilled that Gran Turismo 7 will be a PS VR2 launch title! Through a free upgrade, for those who have already purchased Gran Turismo 7, players will experience all cars and tracks in VR like never before. GT7 in VR takes full advantage of PS VR2’s next gen features. With eye tracking and foveated rendering, players will experience stunning visual fidelity while racing in any of the 450+ cars. While 2-player splitscreen races are not supported in VR, all other races, including online races, will be available. From the Nürburgring to Tsukuba, tracks can be experienced exactly as they are in real life.

Now, let’s let developers introduce today’s newly revealed titles:

  • Having owned and played only on the psvr this was a no brainer purchase for me because I LOVE vr it’s just the controllers and tracking on psvr were utterly abysmal. It might just be me but from my vr experience I’m more excited about being able to use ACTUAL JOYSTICKS than any of the other improvements lol. No more holding a weapon in one hand and holding a button down and pointing to where l wanna walk and then being totally unable to go backwards in a zombie game because the tracking SUCKS lmao. So hyped for this. I got me a woojer series 3 strap too. I also have a recommendation to any who wanna try something magical. If you have No Man’s Sky then at the end of the day when you’re all good and tired then either use an exsisting save or start a creative game. Get a freighter or whatever they call the big ship, and build a platform to the outside (before the updates you had to get a little frigate to do this) and go outside into space and stand on the top of your ship. Then, with the headset on,fall asleep in a chair. When you wake up, boom! Magical. It was amazing on psvr, I should be breathtaking on psvr2.

  • Bring Polybius to PSVR 2! This game was massively underrated and I would gladly double dip to play it on the new system.

  • That’s nice, but it’s been a month since PS Store in SG region have not released the “Deals” section. 😐 Has PS SG region gone inactive?

  • Please PlayStation add a mode for PSVR2 to be able to play 2D games on a virtual large screen with a simulated 3D mode. Pretty please! I’m excited for PSVR2!

    • I second this. There’s a PC program called TriDef that makes it possible to play over 90% of PC games in 3D, even if they weren’t designed for it. There’s no reason Sony can’t do the same with PSVR2.

  • please tell me team asobi is working on another astrobot game, also missing astrobot rescue mission remaster for psvr2.

  • Please offer these PlayStation VR2 titles in physical format at retail stores, if not at least purchasable through a video game distributor (Devolver Digital, Inc., Fangamer, First Press Games, iam8bit, Inc., IndieBox, Limited Run Games, Inc., Red Art Games, Signature Edition Games, Super Rare Games Limited, United Games Entertainment, Vblank Entertainment Inc., etc.) because I’m struggling to find hard drive space for base games let alone the big installation requirements. Personally, I like physical copies of the game since it gives me a sense of ownership over a digital version.

  • If Playstation would just get Half Life Alyx I would buy this in a millisecond, until then, holding the line, if they had HLF it would be sold out already…

  • Sony really shot themselves in the foot by not making PSVR2 fully backward compatible with the original PSVR. That means no Skyrim VR, no Doom VR, no Borderlands 2 VR, no Batman VR, etc. Hopefully Sony will come to their senses and reverse this bad decision. Programmers have been writing API wrappers for decades, so there’s no reason it can’t be done here.

    • You can question their decision sure but don’t act like you know ANYTHING about programming because clearly you don’t. Looking all kinds of ignorant.

    • Sorry, kiddo, but I have college transcripts and shelves of programing books that prove otherwise. I started programming in 1983. My second game in 1984 used a very simple form of multi-threading. How is that possible on an 8-bit processor? Just write a routine in machine language and hook it into the system interrupt.

Wrappers for the Glide API began to appear in the late 90s (decades ago). They allowed games written for 3DFX’s proprietary API to be play on any OpenGL card. A high performance GPU like the 3DFX Voodoo is far more complicated than a simple display and input device like a VR headset, so writing a high-level wrapper for PSVR should be a piece of cake.

I hold no grudge against you, but you needed to be put in your place. Stay in school and never stop learning. Peace be with you, grasshopper.

  • Man…. No man sky, Resident Evil, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon… I will be happy with that day one line up… Plenty to enjoy day one…

People act like they gonna just be swapping out games every 10 mins and want to buy 20 games day one 😂😂

  • Oh … And I’m definitely going Kayaking!!! Lol

  • VR just isn’t something that interests me when it comes to at home gaming. It’s a gimmick that’s fun at parties or at adult arcades but there’s never a time when I’m at home that I want to isolate myself from the rest of existence just to game. Out of all the people I know in real life only 1 has every bought a VR headset and they used it a lot for a month and then it became a dust collector.

  • V.ery R.adiant!

  • I can’t wait for Fantavision 202X! It’s such an unexpected game. The original was a launch PS2 game and now 20+ years later we have a sequel.

  • GT7 is the only game i can play

  • VR may be the ultimate party trick or a cool distraction at adult arcades, but when it comes to at-home gaming, I’d rather not detach myself from reality entirely. I mean, why isolate myself when there’s a whole world out there to explore? Plus, I’ve only met one person in real life who has a VR headset and they used it once and it’s been gathering dust ever since.

  • I have my pre order in but a little concerned from what I am hearing about direct orders coming from UK.
I want this day of release or sooner.
Is PlayStation going to open this up to general retailers like Game? Or will it only be from Direct for launch?

  • Please publish some more lengthy GT7 VR trailers

  • Looking forward to playing Resident Evil 4 Remake on my TV 😁👍

  • I miss the days that PlayStation ACTUALLY!! answered!

  • Just a quick question, and please don’t be mean, I’m a Mum asking for her kids: is this new VR headset available in Australia. As I only saw UK and USA mentioned? By the way, I love the VR headset we have, but my ratbag kids keep filming me whilst I’m trying to play games because I look so stupid! lol. Fun for the whole family, at my expense! lol

  • I am not too bothered about this but I hope this is BS is countered by Sonys future in development announcement!

Sony Group Corp. reduced projections for the initial launch of its PlayStation VR2 headset dramatically after early pre-orders disappointed, signaling little improvement for the hyped-but-unproven virtual reality sector.

The company halved its forecast for shipments of the PSVR2, which is set for a Feb. 22 release, this quarter to about a million units, said people familiar with its deliberations. Sony had previously aimed to have 2 million headsets ready for the launch quarter and leverage its second-generation headset to drive user growth and adoption for VR.

The Tokyo-based electronics giant has told a supply partner to expect reduced display panel orders, according to the people, who asked not to be named as the information is not public. The company now plans to ship around 1.5 million units between this April and March next year, they added, though that figure may be adjusted further in response to demand.

Your turn to answer Sony if you have not already!

  • Hey, Cant wait to get my vr2. Does anyone no when amoung us vr is come out?

  • Well Sony actually answered!

  • PLAY STATION 5 PRO need 1. wireless HDMI connected computer/TV, also that can connects at one time during game development, two HDMI or more ports.
2.Built in wife modem wireless connect 6.4 threw 5 g threw play-station plus subscriptions 3.PlayStation virus scan protected automatic full scan/quick scan. 4.17 tera byte memory
800-1000 Tb storage, 88 tera DD-ram. 5. Wireless connect to supercomputer tower. 6. PlayStation connect to Microsoft windows wireless. USB 4.1 super-computing an HDMI 4.1 supercomputer port/ wireless.7 advance liquid cooling. 8. 4.k-8k super-computing.

  • I think there should really be a bigger showing of updated games. HOW is there no AstroBot Rescue Mission!? Resident Evil 7 also would have been a GREAT one to update.
My biggest issue is I REALLY want PC support. I find it really hard to justify without PC support, there’s just such a massive library to tap into there but none of the PC HMDs interest me.
